Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info
Anyone have decent turnip prices??
Mine haven't been above 57 this week.
Also, how do I find my wii code?
To get your friend code, go to the gate at the top of your town and talk to the guard dog on the right.

As for turnips, sorry. Mine are 64 today.
I need it!!!!
I now also have a white queen.

I just added a player from my friends DS so I can order a couple more pieces:

white pawn
black pawn
black bishop
white king
Tomorrow Nook will be downgrading to Nook 'n' Go. Tiny selection but open till 1am. :bouncy:
I also did the same thing. It better suits me when I'm able to play during the week.

If anyone's played any of the previous Animal Crossings, does it feel to anyone else like it's a LOT harder to get pictures from the neighbors now? It's been a month, I've only turned on one of my neighbors and buttered up everyone else, but no one's given me their pictures yet.

They took that feature out of this game.

Pictures are only in ACWW.

I've got two extra golden watering cans for my two extra characters in my town if anyone wants one. I need the Mammoth Skull and the last fossil on the top right shelf if someone wants to trade. I'm not sure if it covers more land or what exactly, so it's not as beneficial as some of the other golden tools.

...That would definitely explain things. Well if those are gone, what the hell have I been nice to these gossipy dimwits for?

Chillin' in Alex's town. :)

LEONNNNNNNN!!
Still looking for those chess pieces... anyone have any?
I have a black pawn.

Converse - I still owe you for the lunar lander! Sorry about that! I'll send the funds off today.

Speaking of which, my youngest bought the moon from Kody via the Flea market for about half price, a little over 15k.

Converse, I wouldn't mind one of the gold watering cans...but I don't have either fossil you're looking for (top right is a coprolite). I'll do some digging...and see if anyone is selling one today at the flea market (one of my neighbors used to have a mammoth skull).

Bought a ton of turnips at 92 bells each today.

Turnips cost 107 for me today - rippoff! :)

My kids are having a lot of fun with the flea market. I've done OK, but haven't sold as many fish as I'd have liked so far, though in retrospect, I probably more need to unload furniture I'm not using anyway, as my closet is overflowing. Hopefully I can sell my other stringfish and my 2 football fish and one red snapper, though, before it is over. Will residents who have visited come back again later or is it once per? I accidentally blocked myself in when Maelle came in and didn't get to sell to her. Oops. I'm hoping she'll come back later.

Don't worry about it, I made a killing in turnips last week, so a few bells is a drop in the bucket for me. I probably owed you for something anyway :)

I was wrong, it's not the coprolite, it's the Archaeopteryx, and besides the mammoth head I need the Ankylosaur Tail as then my fossils are done! I saw in a later post that you got the Mammoth Skull, and I'll be online in about 1 hour so check your gate and we can swap out for the golden watering can.

I guess I'm done with the flea market for today. No more animals will come into my house even though there are different ones that are outside now than this morning.

Made 471,476 Bells with one character, but could've made a little bit more if I sold one more thing to Stitches. I still have a bunch of fish left in my house.

My other characters don't really have anything to sell.

Joan was selling turnips for 100 earlier. Speaking of turnips, I found this site that helps you decide when is the best time to sell your turnips. Seems to work pretty well. I tried entering in the numbers I was tracking for turnips last week and it worked good enough... except in one town it suggested to sell a day too early. Here's the link to the Stalk Market Wizard:

EDIT: Looks like he also has a tool that will help you map out your acres, if you're having problems mapping it out yourself with patterns or whatever other methods you're using. Here's the link to that:

I won't be on again until tomorrow night, because I have spent the weekend with my mom. I had so much crap to pack to have with me for the baby, that I figured I would just leave the Wii until I came back to my apartment. My fiancee was supposed to log on and buy some turnips and do the flea market for me.

I'm going to give the axe a few more shots, but yes, I am interested in buying it from you Paul.

Nice! :applause: You must have saved up a ton of fish! This was the first flea market where I really sold fish. I made out OK, but storing them is too much of an inconvenience. Sending letters and being friendly a couple of days before helped me to get nearly 3x their worth from every villager that visited.

Nah, the guys at gamefaqs are being crazy bitches. :nottalking:

This french guy wants more than a mil bells for it... WTF?! LOL!

Yeah, I had so much fish in my house. Someone commented that it looked like a pet store on my first floor when they visited my town. I was getting close to 3x Nook's buying price too. I think that's the last flea market where I'll be selling stuff. It's too much work to move all my furniture out of the way (especially since I'm out of storage) just to set up a bunch of fish.

I just did Festivale tonight in another town with someone on my friend's list who's in Malaysia. It takes so much longer to get furniture from Pavé than getting it from someone like Jingle. You have to play games with your villagers and if you lose, they take something from your pockets or 500 Bells. If you win, you get a piece of candy. You need 3 pieces of a specific colored candy to get 1 piece of furniture.

What we ended up doing was laying out all our candy in front of Pavé and just sharing it with each other. Then we'd have our separate piles of furniture/wallpaper/flooring and any dupes would either go in the dupe pile or in the pile of whoever needed the piece.

After about 3 hours, we only had 1 complete set between the three people who were in the town. The other two of us were both missing 1 piece and we had a whole bunch of dupes. Really a big pain in the butt to get a complete Pavé set. I hope I can get the last piece I need once Festivale starts in my town.

Yup, you can do Festivale on wifi. Here are some tips:

- trap your outdoor animals. The closer you can get them to the town hall the easier it'll be than having to go all over your town to find them to try to win candy from them. Also be sure that at least one person is holding their shovel in case anyone else accidentally kicks in a hole and sets an animal free.

- empty your pockets, wallet (unless you don't mind losing money), and letter attachments... the letters will be used for temporarily storing any candy you might win (if it's attached to a letter, they won't try to win it from you since they can't see it)

- collect as many shells/fruit as possible or any other worthless items you don't care about losing. The animals didn't seem to want to try to win pitfall seeds from me, so there might be some other things that you won't be able to put on the line in a game.

- if each person holds onto their own candy, it takes a little longer to get piece of furniture, so having an organized & shared collection of candy right near Pavé might help everyone get furniture faster. Just take turns with who will be the next person to give Pavé the candy he (yes, Pavé is a guy... LOL) wants.

I think there might be some sort of logic the NPC's use when they play rock-paper-scissors. If you win the first game (let's say you did ROCK and they did SCISSORS), in the next round I think the NPC will try to use something that's effective against what you won round 1 with. So since they'll probably try to do PAPER next to beat ROCK, go with SCISSORS. I haven't really figured out what their pattern is when they win the first round or when there's a draw the first round. You have to win at least two rounds of r-p-s, so if you win the first round, the second round is usually easier to predict. Or it might be just luck that I won those. I think it's just random.

For the "guess which hand the candy is in" types of games, I usually won those by picking the same hand for both rounds.

There were other types of games, but I think they're mostly random with how you win them.

I'm not sure which piece I needed. I'll check the next time I turn the game on.

That's funny, I did the same thing with my house. Except I went with a more seafood restaurant look - used the gorgeous lamp and chair at the entrance, and threw in some pirate furniture behind the fish. On a side note, I actually got a drastic improvement in my HRA score with that set up, so much that my feng shui was complemented.

I only went with twice the selling price, so I'll give your thrice a try next flea market.

Much appreciated! Let me know if you are looking for anything. I'm not much of a collector, but I like the idea of a full museum for some reason. I am such a phylanthropist! (sp?)

Thanks. I've got to restock everything now, only have a tuna and snapper left. I wound up selling 4 tunas, 6 football fish, 3 red snappers, 2 koi, 8 lobsters (a must have), 2 goldfish, and a fern - I got a really good price out of it.

I've got some extra Pavé items if anyone is going to need any.

closet x2
lamp x2
chest x3
table x3
wall x4
end table x2
floor x2
chair x2
bookshelf

I had fun with the flea market. Selling and buying. I got around 2.2x Nook's price. I should have sold more of my furniture and a few less fish, though, as I'm long out of closet space. Also, thanks for the Festivale tips, Miranda!

Yes, thank you for the tips Miranda :D

Managed to get 4 villagers trapped around the same area so I've been getting 4 tries at it.
But I'm only half reading the screen each time so I haven't noticed any patterns yet  (the first option in each game seems to win well enough)

I'm not on wifi yet, don't want to risk entering a building and losing my set up. Probably around 4pm I'll see if anybody is open, if not I'll open my gate.

Also, you can bet with ants in each game. To get them I just spread my candies across a couple of acres. After you catch one, running to the next candy usually triggers another ant to appear.

You won't lose your holes or your animals if you go inside. You also won't lose them if you open up your gate.

The only time the game resets holes automatically is when you save & quit.

Great idea with the ants! That won't work on wifi though since ants won't show up, but it's an easy way to fill your pockets for playing offline.

BTW, I have an item for Queenie's house for you, Janet. It's a merry-go-round I got from Redd. Spins around & around on its own, takes up 1 square.

Dear lord, that sounds like the most unfun thing ever. Not to pass judgement on all of the completionists in this thread, but playing the game the way some of you guys do sounds more like a job than a game.

My wife and I paid off the final upgrade to our house last night and we were really dissapointed that there is nothing left to do regarding that. I can't imagine trying to barrel though all of the collection aspects of the game in one go - at that point there is nothing left to do.

It was actually 3 hours (or more like 2 1/2), not 4 (I think around 9:40-midnight). I'm bad with times/hours when it comes to this game. It was still fun doing Festivale on wifi than playing alone. If you're by yourself when you play, it does get kind of unfun as you put it. At least when you're online, you have people to chat with as you play the games.

I don't get it. My son is playing and he keeps talking to everyone and no one offers to play a game. He's got his pocket filled with cherries. What are we supposed to do? We did talk to Pave.

Is yellow candy a joke? 11 whole pieces thrown on the ground, he never even asked for it!

I'm missing the table but I'm taking a break for now. Overall, this event is pretty fun! The confetti is just awesome!

And this is kind of funny, I bought an adorable Bear Hat from Able's but didn't have a shirt to go with it. A few minutes later Peggy noticed me and asked if I liked recycling. I said yes and she gave me a bear shirt! They rarely give me things that are new to my catalog so that was a pleasant surprise. I guess maybe now I won't hate her so much

That's strange, fruit should work. Maybe he has too many items in his pocket?
Make sure the villagers are outside.

Yes, that seems to have been it! They were talking about being light on your feet, so I suppose I should have figured it out. In any case, thanks!

VIVA FESTIVALE just got my pave set pretty quick, only 4 dupes :) I did notice after pave gave me a item & if I didn't talk to a villager & gave him the candy he wanted right away I would get a dupe. I would stick to the same set of answers the whole time & it worked most of the time but rock, paper & scissors got harder later on.

Also just got my 3rd silver axe

It took me an hour and a half to get 3 items from Pave. I started losing and getting repeat items after that. I'm going to try again later. Maybe on wifi if anyone is going to be playing too. Festivale is fun. Pave looks like he's doing the invisible hoola hoop. lol I hate that soccer game. It's too long and I lose a lot.

Festivale was fun for a while, but it's just not worth it on your own. It takes a long time to get a bunch of candy gathered up, and then Pave spits the same thing out at you time after time. I've got about 5 pieces of the furniture and 5 duplicates now, and almost out of candy.

On a side note, it doesn't seem like anyone has been online lately. I'll try again a bit later tonight while the wife watches Secret Life of a Teenager.

My kids have been playing and gotten two items, and will trade in for a third, their last, soon. I'll be playing for myself later and would be happy to do so with others. I have not done any trap building. I think I'll just stick to playing the games until I have the currently needed set and trade those in, then play games to get the next set, etc. Hopefully that avoids duplicates, or at least minimizes them.

Uggh, been having trouble getting connected to WiFi at my mom's house. If I manage to get it up and running, I'll be on tonight. I'm staying with mom until Thursday so I may not be on a lot. My fiancee's grandmother is also dying and my daughter has a few appoinments, so it may be a few days. Rest assured, I'm not going anywhere.

Does anyone need any candy? I have 4 yellow, 3 red and 7 blue. I have no more use for them so I can give them to whoever wants them. Just let me know when your gate will be open.
Pave will not give me the bookshelf.
Took forever it to get a closet, but bookshelf is the last thing ugh.
I can give you a bookshelf. Send me your info and tell me when you'll be on and I can drop it off sometime tonight.

I've got 9 of the Pave items, plus 12 or so duplicates of various items, so let me know what you guys are missing out there and I'll send them. I know I have 2 or more extra walls, tables, chests, and bookshelves.

I'm not sure what I am missing, let me look at the list...the bed and bureau I am missing.
