What are you guys looking forward to in the next few weeks?

I'm hyped for Yowapeda, Log Horizon & Gundam Build Fighters Try

Anything else I should be looking out for?

Don't even get me started on that. So mad that Log Horizon managed to get a second season when much better LNs haven't been renewed for a second season or even gotten an anime at all. For me, Log Horizon managed to beat SAO for not just being the worst "trapped in a video game world" anime, but the worst "video game world" anime in general. I was bored to tears.

So, is "trapped in a video game" anime/manga the new go-to type?  Like super-cute school girls doing random/stupid shit was the go-to thing a few years ago?

I loved living in the database where the wall of pure fiction is cracking in my head and the world of my addiction still spreads.

What is the best "trapped in a game" anime in you opinion? Only ones I can think of are SAO, Log Horizon, .Hack and No Game No Life.

Started watching Barkamon and Ping Pong the Animation. both are great in thier own ways.

Dragon Pink.

Edit: Accel World also fits, which is by the same person that did SAO (Schwarz®).

Yes. I don't like it because I just can't take it seriously. The idea is so stupid to me.

what about selector infested , i am actually watching terraformars, the premise is kinda of silly, but i do like the actions ,except for the censoring of blood/ gore

in my opinion no game no life wins that contest hands down, but I haven't seen log horizon yet.... doubt it would change though as ecchi aside no game no life was one of my favorite anime in the last 5 years.

i thought log horizon is pretty average, at least for what they show on the first season. since i don't read the light novel. i wouldn't know whether the story line gets better. regardign sao, i know a lot of people hated the first season, but the story arc in the second season is totally trash.

I just finished puella magi madoka and it was WAY better than what I thought it would be.

:shame:

Off to watch the last movie now even though I already read spoilers. I always go on the wiki pages after finishing a show, since most of them leave off with unanswered questions. :bomb:

I was pretty crazy impressed with it too. Didn't know what to expect, but thought it was pretty exceptional.

I still need to get around to watching the movie sometime.

With Naruto ending my manga reading will probably be at an end as well as it was never something I was hugely into. I mostly stuck to things that I knew through anime and there's only two titles I believe I discovered on my own without watching or hearing about it first.

Barakamon was awesome. I really enjoyed that anime. Probably one of my favorites in recent months. It helps that I like the opening and ending themes too.

Started watching Another last night. It's been okay. I was wanting more twists but it's been very predictable so far.

Also started up One Piece again. I left off on episode 560 so I have some catching up.

They kept stalling and dragging out the plot in another. It drove me nuts!

Oh, it's on Netflix now? Fun show, only problem is I wish there was more of it. By far my favorite character is Lucifer.

Build Fighters Try finally came out I see. I'll wait a couple weeks for more episodes and indulge myself one evening in some Gunpla battles.

Finished Another last night. It was okay. It's very contrived at the end and I feel like I didn't fully understand what was going on. To be honest I had no idea Reiko was both his aunt and the homeroom teacher until the last 2 episodes. I must've missed something or I'm just stupid. Doesn't help that I poured myself some rum and coke while watching.

nah the show just suffers from really bad writing... the only reason to watch the show is as a comedy with the over the top deaths.

Just pre-ordered Cowboy Bebop on blu-ray ($50 regular edition). Cannot wait to add this to my collection. I've had the Japanese HD version for a little while now (on my HDD...) but it will be nice to finally have a physical copy on my shelf.

Broadcast order, especially if you are willing to watch it again in broadcast order to see all the things you missed the first time (assuming you don't know the story and/or haven't read the light novels).

Chronological order's last episode is the most boring episode.

What order do you guys recommend watching Haruhi Suzumiya?

Chronological order or broadcast order (out of order)?

Halp!
broadcast of the first season to experience it and when you go to watch the second season watch everything (including the first season) in chronological order skipping endless eight eps 3-7

Found the full collection of Battle Royale manga and was lucky enough to talk the seller to wait until payday to sell it to me. I've read it all online before but physical copies I like more. So psyched because I've had a hard time trying to find all of them, and the 2 that I've seen before were about $300 for all of it.

Started watching a few new shows. Welcome to the NHK, Terror of Resonance and Slam Dunk.

Anyone feel Slam Dunk is dated or does it still hold up as a sports anime?

sports anime tend to be boring for me, the ones i was able to watch was kurko no basket and Haikyuu. you should def watch terror of resonance. it is a pretty underrated anime

Was wasting time on YouTube and came across this orchestral remix of Buso Renkin's opening theme Crimson Vow.

That sounds really cool (and I freaking love that song), but it doesn't have the same effect without the guitars, and vocals.

Powered through several episodes of NHK and I like it. Around episode 18 right now. My only concern is the ending. I really don't want it to end without having a clear conclusion or some sense of closure. Like so many anime similar to this that just kind of fizzle out leaving me unsatisfied.

I honestly don't remember how it ends right now, but if you are expecting clear cut endings you really shouldn't be watching anime (a product created to sell toys and manga) and should instead just be reading manga (still often doesn't have clear conclusions but is a lot better about it as they often go for a lot longer than the anime)

Some anime actually end clearly as they are done after the manga is finished, most leave it TBC because the manga is ongoing. (or because they want to have a chance of making more later, or to get you to read the manga/lite novel, or just because they are jerks :p)

All right. I'll just stop watching anime then.
:p

I should clarify I'm not saying stop watching anime. I am saying stop expecting a conclusion... anime is way less frustrating with endings if you expect it to be a generic open ended ending instead of a clear cut ending, if you can't help but expect a clear cut ending you are very very often going to be rather disappointed with an anime ending (and thus if you want to know the stories should instead just be reading the manga), as at least 90% of anime don't have a good conclusion. (to be fair a number of manga don't either, but it's a lot less from my experience then anime has of open ended endings)

Look, I'm not entirely ignorant to anime, I'm aware of the tropes, trends and cliches. A lecture on this stuff is wasted words.

I wasn't even asking someone to confirm or relieve my concerns. Even if it does have a "hum drum" ending I wont hate it for it.

I think the only anime I really hated because of the ending was School Days.
