I used to go to a TON of old WWF house shows back in the day in Cleveland (at the old Richfield Coliseum). I was actually present for one of the first Ultimate Warrior matches in the WWF, as he was called upon to wrestle Rick Rude when Paul Orndorff's plane was snowed in up in Buffalo. Bobby Heenan even called my mom a "fat bitch" after he heard us heckling him with the "weasel" chants - I must have been maybe 6 or 7 at the time.

I was also there for the historic Raw/Nitro simulcast and WWF's Invasion PPV, and made it onto the PPV show and DVD. During the RVD/Jeff Hardy match for the hardcore title, there's a spot where Van Dam does a moonsault out in the crowd onto Hardy. Following that, RVD does his "R-V-D" pose, and they cut to us up in the stands with giant cardboard RVD thumbs on cardboard tubes. Sorta cool, I guess.

Never got to go to WCW, as they rarely ran shows in Cleveland (when they did, it was usually a Thunder taping at CSU). Did make it to two ECW shows in Cleveland, and used to have a plastic beer cup with Balls Mahoney's blood on it. Awesome.
I doubt too many people would mind that...;)
IIRC Carmen Electra was running some girl promotion where it was full on nude wrestling in the ring. I can't remember the name of it though.

It got inducted on wrestlecrap.com a few weeks back.

And I finally opened up my Chris Daniels DVD and even though the matches are edited it seems pretty good. I just got to the first steel cage match before I turned it off, but the way they edited made the DVD flow nice and was almost like a long highlight reel. I have had his theme song stuck in my head ever since I watched it so I don't know when I will put in back in my Xbox and watch the rest of it.

I'm at the Wrestecrap site, and I can't find a way to view previous posts. There's the previous inductions page, which has one-line summaries, but is there a way to see full entries for these wrestlers/events? I just can't seem to find it, but you'd figure this stuff would be archived...

Tonight was a pretty good show. Too many 6 man matches, but the interview segments were good and the wrestling was decent. The clusterfuck at the end was even decent.

As an original TNA supporter, I am continually surprised and shocked at how much work they have to "bring me back"... it's sad. :whistle2:(

Thoughts on Impact (LONG) -

Aside from new names for Raven's jobbers that will continue to make sure they don't get over a lick from this angle, we also got a DREAM TAG TEAM MATCH with a DQ finish after interference, after the match already had interference before. There was also a meaningless six-man tag involving the real hero, the cowboy, the black Macho Man, the sprinkler guy, the idiot, and the wall street guru who can't get off the pre-show. The idiot and the guru have something big planned for the pre-show, thank God. Christian sacrificing Borash to Abyss ruled, as did Jackie slamming Gail on the floor. They'll be in a bullrope match by the way, and Lynn-Sabin will be 2/3 falls. These were announced in the span of30 seconds and never mentioned again, as was Christy's mystery team challenge match against VKM.

Sting also played parlor tricks on Abyss by teleporting from one side of the Impact Zone to the other, which was kind of hard to decipher since each part of the building that he was on looked the same... and he was in the dark. Thankfully, Teny shouted everything so that we could understand it better. At least Steiner, Joe, and Backlund were awesome. Oh, and Austin Starr is facing Senshi at the PPV with Backlund as the ref and the only way the match can end is via the crossface chickenwing - just in case the show didn't have enough matches with stips attached.

At least the show provided me with these great quotes -
Tenay - We open Impact with Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe in the ring!
Tenay - Kurt Angle vs. Scott Steiner this Sunday at Destination X!
Tenay - Oh, it’s been established! Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, they have mutual respect!
Tenay - Oh, Christian loves to have backup and support!
Tenay - VKM, and Kip in particular, have had their fill of Christy Hemme.
Tenay - Boy, I am so intrigued by the comments made by Kurt Angle!
Tenay - Torture breeds success!
Steiner - Do I look like Quasimodo to you? Does it look like I can read the future!?
Steiner - ARE YOU ON CRACK!?
Steiner - I want Angle’s butt, nobody else’s!
DW - Wait a minute! Just as they were about to give the plaque to Hector Guerrero, here comes ABYSS!
DW- This monster is out of control!
Backlund - Mr. Storm, don’t forget your beer!
Backlund - The plebians are going to love it!
Tenay - Gail Kim and Jackie Moore hate each other!
Tenay- Check out the Destination X pre-game show - Robert Roode and Eric Young will come down the black and blue carpet.
DW - I’m just as intrigued as you are, Mike!
Tenay - Let’s go back to Jeremy Borash and Christian as they try to get an answer from the monster Abyss. GOOD LUCK!
Tenay - It’s the DREAM TAG TEAM MATCH! - The Christian Coalition against Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, and Rhino!
Tenay - WOAH!
Tenay - CAN KURT ANGLE OVERCOME THESE IMPOSSIBLE ODDS!
Tenay - Sting’s on one side of the Impact Zone, now the other! NOW HE’S IN THE RING!
Tenay - DAMN I CAN’T WAIT FOR DESTINATION X THIS SUNDAY!

He took them down due to "bandwidth issues." RD posts here so I won't say anything, but it just seems really strange to me considering the fact I'm sure people would donate to keep the site fully operational.

A very young Bad News.

According to Forbes magazine, only one billionaire will be involved in the April 1, 2007 event, Wrestlemania.

The annual Forbes list of billionaires was released today and Donald Trump was ranked as the 314th richest person in the world with a net worth of $2.9 billion. Vince McMahon wasn't on the list...but his old nemesis Ted Turner was at $2.0 billion.

It should be noted that the Forbes list is based on their estimation of the net worth of the people on their list. If Mr. McMahon says he's a billionaire, he probably is, even if Forbes says he isn't.

IIRC Vince did drop down to being worth a petty $800 million for awhile, but bounced back up... not sure what he's *really* at now. Nor does that really matter. Billing the event as the "Battle of the Billionaires" certainly has a better ring to it than something like "Battle of the Really Rich Guys".

Hey Kanerobot:

WWE has announced that they are inviting fans who plan on attending this year's WrestleMania in Detroit to come down for a special screening of The Condemned on March 20th at the Fox Theater. WWE states that most Superstars will be in attendance for the premiere. The Condemned is WWE's most recent film project and stars Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Tempting, no? I wonder what they'll be trying to charge ticket wise...
Hey Kanerobot:

Indeed. Hopefully if I can get in there they'll give me a script to say "OH MAN I LOVED IT AND STONE COLD...HE'S JUST THE MAN IN THIS MOVIE" for a repeated-relentlessly-on-TV promo of "fans in the lobby" because I WILL DO IT.

Really - I spent 100 bucks to see the new Rocky a month early (although the perks for spending that much were falsely advertised), so it's no unprecedented for me to spend a retarded amount of cash for a movie.

Oh, and if I can sit next to Mickie James and have her give me a handjob or something, that would be good too.

*EDIT* Well, forget the handjob. They made a correction - it's on 3/30, not 3/20. I have ROH tickets for that night, and I'd rather go get a picture with Sammartino than watch a Steve Austin movie.

fuck Kenny Dykstra. He used to be a cheerleader.

But if you're going to nitpick, fine. Maria will be a fine substitute. What, CM Punk is with her? Hah! Besides, he is NOTORIOUS for being a hump-and-dumper....he has probably already moved on to Torrie Wilson or Stephanie McMahon or Mae Young or something.

Really though, Punk has a nice list of conquests. I do respect anyone who can pull off boinking both Daffney AND Traci Brooks at the same time.

WWE officials have been in contact with Chris Jericho in hopes of a return around September. Nothing has been confirmed at this point but if a deal is reached he will most likely appear on the RAW brand.

It should also be noted that Dixie Carter is interested in signing him to TNA Wrestling.
With either company, I'd be glad to see him back. If he goes back to WWE, I hope to god that he's a face, cause him working as a heel didn't work that well.

As for Impact, was it just me or does Hector Guerrero look & sound a lot like Eddie? Oh and don't get me started on Christy's acting on mentioning her new tag team. Can someone get her a acting coach?

Last night's show was an improvement for me, but still a mixed bag. Nothing wrong with have a bunch of 6-men tag matches... gotta work in those last minute storyline movements right? Anyway I'm definitely hoping Christian goes over Joe... Christian is just too great on the mic, he's such a great champ.

Anyone notice Don West ran out of breath around 27 minutes into the program? He was announcing matches and it sounded like he was trying to take nitrous shots and rap at the same time... or something. :D
Plus, Mickie's engaged to Kenny Dykstra, and would probably avoid giving a handjob to a fan to still be with the future of wrestling.
You're joking about the future of wrestling part right? If he had a future in WWE they'd be using him on TV much more than they are. WWE likes to cram and cram and cram the superstars they like down your throat. If Kenny isn't involved in a major storyline by Summerslam, I'd say his future is in the independent circuit.

I remember reading somewhere that they picture him being a "top guy" by 2009, which almost gives them too much credit for actually planning anything past a PPV or two in the future.

Seriously, the guy's one screw up away from being sent back to OVW. Where I believe Mitch & Mikey are now a tag team called the "Frat Boys". Strange, they've gone from being male cheerleaders to frat boys.

As for couples, I doubt they'll stay together. As soon as one is injured, sent back to OVW or fired, they'll split. Look at what happened with Molly Holly and Daivari(they were a couple up until she was fired).

WWE will definitely not be firing Dykstra any time soon unless he screws up in a major way, and given how high they are on him, I doubt even that could force an exit from WWE (or even a forced exhile to OVW) for him. He might not be THE main guy right now, but he's only 20 and has already held gold in the company. They've definitely got some big plans for him in the future.

I believe one of the former SS members is OVW champ.

and not to sound too critical, but if RD wanted to save some bandwidth he should tell all the pricks over in his forums with fucking movies in their sigs that those days are in the past. I really liked his book and his website is pretty cool, but if bandwidth is the reason that you can't look at past crap that would be one way to save some of it.

someone told me that they saw ovw playing real late one of these nights in my area... have to look into it..

is burchill still captain jack?

Very good news! I will be in attendance at Destination X! It's been a while since I've been to a TNA event so I'm looking forward to this. I just hope I don't see somebody die. Elevation X scares the crap out of me. That has potential disaster written all over it.

Look out for flyin' fatmen from Detroit! Seriously, I have the same paranoia you do; have a good time, though.
nope. He's just a wrestler who'll rip yer fuckin' arm off, if that's a gimmick.
Yeah, I never understood why he went with "The Ripper" name.

I read the other day that after WM, starting with Backlash, we're gonna see the end of brand-exclusive PPVs. I like this because it presents possibilities for better matches, or at least matches we've not seen before.

It's not the end of them.

They are just going to push more interpromotional matches.

- edit Awesome news for us Floridans. The Wrestlemania 24 at the Orlando (TD/Amway Arena) rumor is still in rotation.
Orton is expected to be the last guy in the MITB match.

Mistico will not be joining WWE. He is still under contract with CMLL but he didn't tell anyone that until John Laurinaitis made him a contract offer. So, he'll be staying in mexico for a while.

Ricky Steamboat came to a deal with his ex-wife so he can use that name again.

The 2008 Royal Rumble is expected to be at MSG. Wrestlemania 24 will probably be held in Orlando at the TD Waterhouse Arena.

Lawler isn't so happy about being inducted into the HOF. He thinks that you shouldn't be in a hall of fame until you retire, and Kevin Dunn turned down his request that Lance Russell induct him. Also, he really wanted to go to an Indians game on the 31st, but now he can't. WWE wanted Jim Carrey to induct him, but Jim turned it down. So now, WWE wants William Shatner to do the induction.

Dustin and Cody Runnels will be inducting their dad into the HOF.

Rene Dupree has been suspended and he might be fired.

Backstage, people are comparing Batista to the Ultimate Warrior. He is resented because of his lack of love for the business and his not paying enough dues. However, HHH is still a big supporter of Batista because he made Dave a star.

No DX vs Orton/Edge feud is planned for when HHH returns. HHH feels that this feud should occur but Vince believes that it will be impossible to keep Orton and Edge hot as a team for that long. So Orton and Edge are supposed to be splitting up and feuding within the next few months. Edge also has been pushing to NOT feud with HHH.

WWE 24/7 has 35,000 subscribers on a monthly basis, which Dave notes is pretty low
I guess I did make that sound wrong. What I meant was... well i guess now it doesn't matter because you got it anyways. Either way, it'll still make the shows better.

This slow blending of brands is a terrible idea. Either do a complete merger and make a good storyline out of it or keep them exclusive. WWE isn't MLB. These regular crossovers don't do much, at least for me.
WWE will definitely not be firing Dykstra any time soon unless he screws up in a major way, and given how high they are on him, I doubt even that could force an exit from WWE (or even a forced exhile to OVW) for him. The same thing could be said for Rene Dupree at one point...

The reason Ricky Steamboat was shown using that name on RAW this past week during the Nick Bockwinkel HOF segment is because he had finalized a deal with his ex-wife Bonnie and thus he owns the rights to the name "Ricky The Dragon Steamboat" again. This move would enable WWE to use him in some sort of legend capacity as a character, make merchandise on him, and at some point induct him into the Hall of Fame.

Excellent! Perhaps he'll get inducted this year.

When Triple H makes his return around Summerslam, it is expected that he will not be partaking in a Degeneration X vs. Randy Orton and Edge feud.

Vince believes that it would be nearly impossible to keep Orton and Edge a hot tag-team for that long. It is also expected that the two are due to be splitting back up into singles competition within the next few months. With that being said, Edge has also asked to not feud with Triple H when he does make his in-ring return.
Let the politiking begin. Clearly Edge doesn't want to job to Triple H for a few months, even though that's really all he's fit to do. If we get another HHH vs HBK feud  why not put one of them on SD to freshen things up a bit?

I just think it's awesome that Edge has enough pull to even SAY that he "doesn't want to feud with Triple H," which, 18 months ago, would have meant he's reduced to Heat and completely buried.
