I wholeheartedly agree. I was referring to the various stories from indy wrestling where Punk wanted to kill Hart for being such a jackass.

I didn't mean for it to be a jab to you or anything, i was just stating my opinion that Teddy Hart is a no selling spotfest cocksucker :)
Ohhhhhh boy. Teddy Hart and CM Punk working for the same company (and potentially the same show) could get very interesting.
Not a chance. Punk will be shown the door the moment he opens his mouth.

Really think so? Granted, they're probably just looking for a reason to fire Punk these days, but over Teddy Hart? Hart's a guy that, although he's still a Hart, he'll -never- be able to work the WWE style. He's what, about 175 lbs? Almost his entire offense is aerial, and his only defense involves not selling anything.

The biggest compliment I can give Teddy Hart is that he's a lot like Rey Mysterio, except without the talent.

Just a friendly programming reminder to all and every single CAG....

Wrestling Society X Marathon Is On Tonight At 11 PM EST On MTV!

Does anyone have WWE 24/7? I'm sitting here wondering why the only thing available for me right now is Jimmy Snuka.
My eyes must be deceiving me... Tommy Dreamer with a win on WWE television?
Stunning isn't it? Poor Sandman though, he's really getting shit on lately.

I almost felt bad for Foley last night, but serves him right. The guy only parades out there when he wants to peddle something, and the majority of the fans have caught on now and stopped giving him his cheap pops. While his promo last night was geared toward that reality, and he certainly had passion, the fans couldn't seem to have cared less and the whole bit ended rather awkward.

Heh... so we get Foley, Rock and Austin all in one week? How about that.

Teddy Hart has already been shown the door in WWE once for having a shitty attitude, so coming in he won't be on much better ground than Punk.

His fued with Flair was really good though so I don't think he should be getting as much shit as he does. The promos cut on both sides of that fued were probably some of the best of the year and the passion that both had was great.

Pretty cool news from the Impact spoilers for the 3/22 show:

Team 3D comes out and each of them is carrying a small metal case. Brother Ray is wearing a Road Warior Hawk t-shirt. He asked Homicide and Hernandez to come to ringside so they can talk. LAX comes to the ring. Ray says that it's been a long three months and LAX has gotten the better of Team 3D. He noted the history of the feud and said some people would said it was disrespectful, but the truth is the attacks were something 3D would have done ten years ago. He said in the past they've broken women's necks, thrown an 80 year old woman off a stage and sent people through flaming tables. Ray said that LAX wants a legacy but they don't understand what you need to create one - giving up for your family, traveling, bleeding, winning titles. He said that LAX will have a chance to earn their legacy and open the cases and pull out replicas of the old WCW, WWF, and ECW Tag Team championship belts. He said that at Lockdown, it will be their legacy vs. the NWA Tag Team championships. He mentioned Road Warrior Hawk and the legacy Hawk created in his career, then promised that in the end LAX will just be another team to fall to Team 3D. Konnan is wheeled out and says that they don't care about championships 3D have won in the past, because they already the "TNA champions." He said that if 3D wants a match, it's going to be on LAX's terms. He notes there is an electrified fence on the border and suggests they have an electrified cage match at Lockdown.

Russo should be fired if for nothing else the only thing he seems to want to have is freaking gimmick matches.

I'm still reading "Hardcore Diaries" and came across the chapter where Terry Funk confronted him in Texas prior to ONS 2006. It was such a great segment that I marked out reading about it.

"Hey Foley, Hey Foley...your wife's a whore!"

"Hey Foley, Hey Foley...your children are bastards!"

"Hey Foley, HEEEEY Foley...the WWE sucks!"

There's a little bit of insight to the WWE creative process in the book so far, a couple mentions of TNA (and Foley coming *thisclose* to signing with them), but for the most part, it's pretty much an empty book. I'm enjoying reading it, but it really wasn't necessary to publish this at all.

But, to be fair to Foley, his feuds in 2006 were very good, and the way he describes the process of building a feud is interesting and insightful. But anyone who thinks that this book is controversial (I'm only halfway through, admittedly) is a liar and a fool.

So... hm. What kind of cross-over matches would you all want to see? My signature on GameFAQs is "Not changing this until I see RVD vs. Joe" And I set it about a year ago. Also, want to see Danielson vs. Christian one on one, I know a tag match already happened. Probably Abyss vs. Kane or Undertaker too. Oh and Khali vs. AJ just for fun :)
AJ Styles vs HBK

Make it happen. :D
I don't think AJ could carry HBK (mix-match, because of HBK's 'abilities')... especially these days.

I've been wanting to see AJ Styles vs. RVD.

Ok, let me just make a few phone calls.

I gotta agree with Brak on that one though... I think it would be good. But probably only around 4 astericks.

I think TNA should consider making AJ Styles an RVD-esque heel, in the sense that he's extremely arrogant and brash (which he currently is)... but totally backs it up, week in and week out (which he currently isn't).

Here's the Observer site bio on him -
Arnold Skaaland, a fixture on the Northeast wrestling scene dating back to the 1940s, passed away yesterday at the age of 82.

A former part owner of Capital Wrestling Corporation, the parent company of the World Wide Wrestling Federation, Skaaland's public persona during the 70s was as the long-time prelim wrestler who was the public manager of champions Bruno Sammartino and later Bob Backlund. He was also the regular heel manager for Andre the Giant for New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he served the role as Andre's caretaker and Vince McMahon Sr.'s business representative, since McMahon Sr. was Andre's booker.

He promoted wrestling in White Plains and worked the box office and was in charge of taking the receipts from the shows and depositing them during the 60s and 70s, among his other jobs. That job shows the level of trust the other owners would have had in him in such a cut-throat business. We remained working behind the scenes with the company up to the present time.
I remember the angle he did in '94 with Backlund to help get him over as a killer heel, and that's about all I saw of his work, but I remember it fondly.

He was the manager of Backlund when he lost the WWF title to the Iron Sheik in controversial fashion. Backlund never gave up or was pinned; Skaaland threw the towel in (literaly) for Backlund, causing the title loss.

You may remember the same angle when Bret Hart lost a match to Bob Backlund when Owen Hart convinced his mother to throw the towel in for Bret.

Yeah, I remember the stuff with Skaaland costing Backlund the title since they played the clip all the time, and I liked that they tied it into Backlund winning the belt again, even if it was only for a few days. I was actually rooting for Backlund to win the title from Bret at the Survivor Serier even though I was a huge Bret fan then.

At least Skaaland was legitimately old... I mean I know 82 is younger than some grandparents, but when someone is in their 80s and passes away, you don't say "Man they were too young"

Anyhow, rather sad to lose another former WWE star in such a short time frame.

Almost seems like 1 a week now.

Awesome find Guile!

I'm surprised Trish may have been in more botches than even Lita, although Lita surely got injured in more. :whistle2:k perhaps Trish was only in more because she was in more matches due to Lita spending half her career rehabing injuries.

Nidia certainly seemed to be the most awkward of the bunch, and that bit at the end only furthers that notion.

Heh, my favorite part though was the inclusion of Stevie Richards.

This is why women have no business in the ring. I don't care who the hell you are, you will never do it nearly as well as the men, so don't bother trying. I'm sure Myke will dig up some obscure Japanese broad who had a mean Satellite Head Scissors, and use that as an example of how women can be just as good as the men, but I still don't care, they never will do it nearly as well as the men, in terms of the suspension of belief.

I'm trying to post some pics from Destination X. This is the first time I've tried uploading pics so I'm probably screwing something up. If anybody wants to give some advice on how to do this right, feel free.

Wow, it looks like I actually did it right. I'll post more tomorrow.

No, the video is hand selected footage, so it's not indicative of anything, except the WWE's pushing of looks ahead of talent. There are a number of talented female wrestlers out there, and there always have been. The difference between them and the WWE women?

Training. Nothing more, nothing less. You know that very well, so don't come out accusing me of all people of being a wrestling snob. You know goddamned well that there are plenty of people who post here, you included, who could name that Japanese broad.

Manami Toyota, BTW.

Roughly about the same time WWF became WWE, you saw the same trend for men and women: the WWE seems to have decided that wrestling training doesn't matter, and performers can train on the fly and work that night on TV. They've brought up countless men before they were ready (Masters, Khali, Lashley, Cryme Tyme, etc.). Just because it's more obvious with women (b/c their utility on WWE tv is evident before they even begin training, so I imagine it's more likely they know less about wrestling, on the whole, than men) doesn't make it exclusive to women. Stop being a prat just for the sake of being a prat.

EDIT: What timing! Luna Vachon was just added to the WWE "Where are they now?" subsite. She explains it quite perfectly:

In a career full of unlikely triumphs, Luna cites her loss at WrestleMania XIV as the highlight of her professional career.

“Sable wasn’t a wrestler until I made her one,” said Luna. “A real wrestler can wrestle a mop, and make it look like the mop is kicking their ass, and that’s what happened that night. She beat us, and when we got to the back, there was champagne and confetti, and everyone wanted to celebrate with Sable. I kept walking until Owen Hart came up to me and told me I had just put on the match of my life. It meant a lot to have someone like him say that to me.”

Women can wrestle.

WWE just puts them in there way before the only they're ready so the only thing they can do is mess up the product.

Anyone post this one?
Ray 'Thunder' Stern dies
March 14
, 2007
Wrestling great Ray “Thunder” Stern, who became famed for his in-ring aerial maneuvers in the 1950s and later became a health club pioneer, died last week. He was 74.
Stern, born Walter Bookbinder in Brooklyn, N.Y., became interested in bodybuilding while he was a member of the Merchant Marines. He would later go to California’s famed Muscle Beach to pursue a bodybuilding career, where he met Gold’s Gym founder Joe Gold and bodybuilder Armand Tanny. The two convinced Stern to stay in California and pursue a career in wrestling.
Stern made his in-ring debut in 1950 and earned the nickname “Thunder” because of his spectacular aerial assault in the squared circle. Over a 16-year career, he would hold several tag team titles and have a noted rivalry with Ray Stevens.
Outside the ring, Stern was a successful businessman, founding the first coed health club and first health club with a children’s nursery. In 1994, his autobiography, The Power of Thunder: The Rags to Riches Story of One Man’s Adventure of Fame, Fortune, Romance, & Fitness, was published.
Stern is survived by his wife Debi.

How many is that?

How about a little bit of morning news:

For those who have asked why Edge hasn't wrestled the last several weeks, the reason is that he suffered a fractured jaw while wrestling Rob Van Dam a few weeks back. He's not expected to wrestle until Wrestlemania 23, where he's part of the Money in the Bank ladder match.

Not surprising to hear that he was injured; I could see him playing the coward heel for one week but when it happened two weeks in a row it was fairly obvious something was up.
Starting with Backlash® on April 29, WWE fans will see all their favorite Superstars on every pay-per-view. This is a change from 2005 and 2006, when only four of WWE's 16 pay-per-views featured talent from more than one WWE brand.
Confirmation of a rumor that was let out a few weeks ago, I can't see this as being anything but a bad move. The press release goes on to cite that the tri-branded PPVs sell more -- and then goes on to use Wrestlemania as the example. :dunce: To me this pretty much shows how unimportant the undercard guys are right now, and leads me to believe that One Night Stand will be even more of a joke than I'd originally expected. Apparently they're more concerned with current PPV profits and don't give a shit about the future of the company, and it will be painfully obvious that experience is the best way to build talent when some of these undercard guys finally breakthrough and get on to a PPV now.

In other news, Londrick now hold the 4th longest tag reign in WWE history and the longest since Demolition lost the belts in '89. I'll chalk that one up to the indifference to tag team wrestling these days more than anything else, though.
Isn't that the "IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMMIT" guy?
That's what I read, though I've admittedly not seen that video.

The difference between Demolition and Londrick? People know who Demolition are.

Guile, there's a lot of stuff there I'd never seen. Lots of stuff I'd heard about (the Vader eye incident, the Raven "scalping", etc), and some stuff that never gets old (Steiner falling off the ring apron).

It seems when the guys screw up, it tends to be on a lot bigger scale as opposed to seeing the girls mess up a sunset flip.
