As for the Pillman DVD, it was in the top 10 recreational sports sales listing for MONTHS, and was a surprise hit for WWE. Pillman definitely had a dedicated non-wrestling fanbase from his football days, and his DVD did an excellent job covering that aspect of his life.
k Interesting, I plan on picking it up at some point. Right now I've got plenty of DVDs (wrestling & other) to watch, so I can wait until it goes on clearance somewhere.
There's so many wrestlers that I'd like to see DVDs for. Pillman is a good choice because he had an interesting story. What I hate is the DVDs like Cena's, the previous Austin DVDs, Rock DVDs, HBK, the NWO Back in Black, etc that are put out there just to make a quick buck and only contain 5 of that particular superstar's most recent matches.
I think WWE should try to stick to doing DVDs for retired wrestlers, like Piper, Billy Graham (great dvd by the by), Dusty, Jake, Bret, etc, or at the very least guys that have had enough matches to fill a solid 2-disc set, like Eddie did when his DVD came out, Taker, Benoit, Flair, RVD and so forth.
I'd love to see DVD sets for Perfect, The British Bulldogs, Rock, Rick Rude, Steamboat, and many others. Pity I'll probably never get one for Owen Hart or Randy Savage. Christ, Miss Elizabeth was profiled in the Greatest Managers DVD, while Savage - the guy who headlined WM 4 & 5 - was left off of the Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80s DVD. Interesting.
Finally keeping with the theme of "interesting":
ECW December To Dismember will be held at the Cricket Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina on December 2nd, 2007.
I guess McMahon is planning to continue this ECW nonsense all the way through to 2008. I'm surprised WWE is actually going to go ahead with another DtD ppv though, after how successful the last one was.
