I'm sadly falling out of wrestling. I need to go to some local indy shows, to remember what real wrestling is. The stuff on tv isn't doing it anymore.

This week's Observer says that ROH is talking with Bruno about appearing at the ROH show in Detroit the night before WM (which, wonder of wonders, would be going against the WWE HoF ceremony). That would be the best fucking thing EVER. Especially since I have 2nd row tickets for it...

Now that's booking, but you're not really appealing to anyone outside of smart marks and the elderly at this point, I think. I'd be excited to see it pulled off (and have little doubt it will), but I think Bruno is yesterday's news (and by yesterday I mean two decades ago).
Hmm I might have to get that as well...
The match listing for it is pretty good if I recall - if it's in the $20 range, I'll definitely buy it.
Rated RKO seems poised to drop the belts on turn on each other sometime in the coming weeks, no? That way they'll actually get defended at WM. Ooooh I hope Michaels and Cena win the belts tonight, so they can drop them Cade & Murdoch next week when Rated RKO interferes.
Phase 1 - check
Phase 2 - I give it less than a month

Careful what you wish for I guess, but seriously who didn't see that coming last night? This may guarantee another WM2000 (WM16) - style main event for Raw at WM23 too.

New Japan Pro Wrestling on 2/18 will feature Kurt Angle and Yuji Nagata vs. Giant Bernard (formerly WWE's Albert) and Tomko.

Just more evidence that Kurt has gone off his rocker. Someone should tell him you don't have to go to Japan to wrestle crappy opponents. Christ he can wrestle Tomko right here in TNA! Anyone read his interview from the Bubba the Love Spunge show? Kurt may be getting delusional.

I don't normally post Heat results, but look at the Scotty match. First name guy out, huge pop. Rodimer being on Heat disturbs me somewhat, although I will definitely have to check that match out on WWE.com.

SUNDAY NIGHT HEAT
Scotty 2 Hotty vs Jared Steele
I forgot he still wrestles for WWE. So did the crowd, the reaction he got was amazing. Your standad S2H match.
He doesn't worm like he used to but it won the match for him.

Eugene vs Daniel Rodimer
Daniel Rodimer is Randy Orton 2.0. He walks to the ring like him and looks like him too. It's creepy. He doesn't have Randy's in-ring skills though. Stephanie needs to send him back to the training camps.
Eugene won with a roll-up I believe

Cade/Murdoch/Viscera vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan/The Highlanders
A good six man tag with Rory playing face in peril. Viscera moves so smoothly in the ring for a big man.
Cade wins the match after a clothesline/knee clip combo buy the country bumpkins.

Rodimer is Orton 2.0, but he looks like a doofus because his lip curls like a toothless hick. I've said it before, I know, but just you wait, it totally ruins everything (visually) he has going for him.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Vince McMahon was furious at the 1/16 ECW tapings and went nuts backstage after it was all over. He hated the show and was screaming that there wasn’t one guy in ECW who knew how to work.

McMahon was particularly upset with the main event and how bad it made Lashley look.

Vince is said to be mad all the time since that taping. Stephanie, Vince and Dave Lagana had a meeting about the future of ECW with Vince strongly hinting that ECW was on it’s last legs.

I hope these rumormongers are accurate. ECW is like Old Yeller at the end of the book, man.

As for the Highlanders, they probably just never got over. Of course, jobbing them out 3-4 weeks into their tenure has a tendency to quickly deflate anybody new. Might as well call them "BodyDonnas."

Well put a bag over her head and go about your business... er his in this case and I guess by bag I mean a mask or at least face paint. WWE needs another good face-paint wrestler. Not weird like the Boogeyman or when Jeff was doing the paint thing, but more like Sting/Demolition. I think the next new tag team of guys they call up from OVW should be forced to wear face paint or at least masks.

Anyone own "From the Vault" or "Boyhood Dream" the 2 HBK dvds? They're older so I'm kind of expecting ones along the lines of the original Austin, Rock dvds, but they're 6 and 3 hours long, so maybe not...

part of me inside still wants ecw to be a success.... dont want to see most of these guys lose their jobs....

..i own that "from the vault" but have not seen it in years.. last i remember it was good

I've seen a few of Giant Bernard's matches from Japan and I have to say he is much improved since his WWE days. The man carried Lesner through a match a pretty good match and has had several title shots. Right now Bernard is huge in Japan.

During his last run with WWE I though Albert (A-Train) was pretty impressive for a big man.

Albert wasn't *bad*, necessarily, but more or less expendable, yet pushed. I'll give him credit, however, when they were pushing Benoit prior to his Royal Rumble win, those two had a match on SmackDown where Benoit came out looking like a god, and that's not something I can solely credit Benoit for.

I like how Vince is all upset and screaming at people, as if it's someone else's fault.
I like how Vince is all upset and screaming at people, as if it's someone else's fault.
It's yours and my fault, for expecting something like "ECW fucking Wrestling." Meanwhile, if people would just do what he says, it would be gangbusters. The people clamor for Tommy Dreamer getting beat up by Great Khali, as well as Kelly's titties. They, of course, do certainly *NOT* want wrestling, or some shit that makes it look like a different program than everything else the WWE's put out over the past 7 years.

It's interesting to read about McMahon's behavior - what makes it so is that it's hard to really tell if, in the fallout between Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon, who was the really insane one who is out of touch and completely fucked in the head? Surely one of them must be.

Now, I find the wording of how "bad the main event made Lashley look" fascinating, as if Vince is starting from a point wherein Lashley has no agency or responsibility in having a good match. If it's the drizzling shits, it's immediately and entirely on the shoulders of RVD and Test; Lashley played his part perfectly, of course. It's like watching a family where the favorite is totally obvious, and never gets in trouble for doing the same things are their evil stepsisters.

The new ECW is as if Black Sabbath reformed with only Geezer Butler and Burt Ward, and only played "Air Supply" coversongs. That's about the best analogy I can give it.

Kurt goes to Japan to have matches with Americans? One of them being a TNA guy?!?! fucking stupid.

edited for clarity

Not to the Japanese audience.

They'll probably go nuts for Tomko, solely based on his look. (Appearance is huge over in the East.)

True... but you would think if a fan wants to see Angle vs. Very Big Man from USA they can just download a match. Seeing something like Angle vs. KENTA would sure be a spectacle though.
Albert - SmackDown, Tomko - RAW.
Your other post says that Tomko shows up and kicks Cena in the face... was it supposed to be Albert?

Finally listened to the Warrior's podcast. That shit was truly amazing. It's like a good Space Ghost C2C episode....absolutely no substance or direction but still entertaining for some reason.

His arrogance isn't even abrasive or annoying, it's just hilarious and strange.

Yea my bad no date on that one... (all I did was copy and paste any instances of "Tomko" or "Albert" that I found) here it is:

September 5, 2005 - RAW: Kurt Angle defeated Eugene Dinsmore by Anklelock submission..

Absolutely - he defends himself by mentioning how people "keep coming back" for his Warrior wisdom - but he fails to realize that he's the punchline of the joke. Sure, he's right - I do keep coming back for more, but that's because there's so little natural comedy in this world, I appreciate it when it exists.

I hope this becomes a weekly thing; I enjoy (and empathize with) the fact that he types and speaks in the exact same way, and most of all, the fact that he still snorts and growls (sometimes unintentionally IMO) is just fuckin' icing on the Warrior cake.

Warrior cake contains no additives, preservatives, sugar or rockstar drinks, of course. ;)

I've got the Boyhood Dream DVD and it's just an old VHS tape dumped onto DVD that highlights his '96 run. From the Vault: Shawn Michaels is fantastic, and has classic after classic on its match listing.

People say The Iron Sheik should have a reality show... but I think The Warrior needs one.
People say The Iron Sheik should have a reality show... but I think The Warrior needs one.
As long as it involves his dogs dragging their freshly killed carcasses into the Warrior's office so they can receive praise from the almighty. I'd *totally* watch that.

Alternately, they could trap him up in a "surreal life" kinda house with Alexis Arquette. Poor bastard/bitch would be torn limb from limb in two episodes, or become Warrior's life partner in three.

Hey do you guys remember when Batista was Deacon Batista? That reminded me of something that gave me a good laugh... When I was locked up... we were in this dorm with 6-7 people (they came and went). One of the guys was this crosseyed deacon of a church who was in for like his 20th driving on a suspended. We called him deacon urmouf

He's just repeating the Rock's catchphrase... from seven years ago. Anyways, I remember Deacon Bautista, and I'm glad WWE has retconned that gimmick out of the history books - although having him go and collect donations was great.

Booker T spoofin on The Scorpion King... its 5 time 5 time 5 time 5 time 5 time great humor fun! :D

I know I'm not alone in saying that I miss seeing The Rock on a weekly basis on RAW.
Well, he most always cut a great interview, and unlike a lot of the wooden WWE scripting, always indicated the kind of mood he was in. I recall the sheer disdain with which he oversaw one of the diva search events on Raw a number of years back (which was, IIRC, his last WWE appearance to date).

The only movie I've seen The Rock in was Be Cool; none of his other movies appeal to me, and even Be Cool sucked outside of the Rock and Vince Vaughn. Leave it up to Hollywood to put out a movie that's a two hour inside joke of itself.
