Books? What the fuck is a book? That reminds me that I have a crate of Star Trek novels that I never got around to reading that I should dust off one of these days.:whistle2:# I used to read around 3-4 or more a month. But if I've picked up an actual book(that wasn't a game guide) to read through it's a miracle.
I want Game of Thrones, and I want the MLB/NBA pack I think...stupid best buy, taking all my money...
haha u made me smile :D
Would Fire and Ice be akin to any of those? From what I know of the show from what people have told me is that it is very..."adult" as well as more political based (wars over territory and land and such).
The books are much darker than anything you listed. In those, the good guys win.

In the F&I books, the 'good' guys usually get murdered and really there aren't many straight forward 'good' people.

All characters have their 'good' and 'bad' sides. Moral dilemmas everywhere. Some you'll grow to hate, others you'll think are cool until they do something that is just plain nasty or wrong, and others you'll cling to in dark times until someone runs them through.

I have a love and hate thing with this series because the dark tones of it are just too much at times.

Thats one of the things I love about it most. You see so many different sides of so many characters that sometimes, its hard to root for anybody at all. I found it refreshing compared to most books which have clear protagonist and antagonist throughout.

Atlus is really trying to push this game out it seems. They made a post on Facebook about this DOTD, and I just got an Atlus Faithful email about the deal as well.
Honestly I am glad I don't want any of this weeks DOTDs, I have already spent way too much this month at bestbuy especially this week :whee:
Agreed!

Man I've been on the fence with this all day. Love the books and the tv series... I just have a huge backlog atm and don't foresee this getting played for at least a month or two (then I'm in to fall AAA releases...).

It's still in stock everywhere. I think I'll roll the dice and hope for a NFS: The Run second time around DOTD. $10 and it'd be a no brainer. But given I've added 12 titles to my backlog these past two months from BB DotD and Summer Clearance.

I am being totally honest here, this game is worth $20 bucks.

Thing is that is what its worth, brand new, day ONE. Its not a $60 title, not a $40 title...maybe a $29.99 title...

All in all if your a fan of the series its a great buy at $20. The story is great. You see familiar locations...at one point I remember saying to myself, "Hey, I've been here before...wait a second...what? Oh yeah, I saw this exact area on the show so that's why I got that deja vu feeling."

Combat isn't that bad. Seriously, its got flaws but I found it to be a weird mix of like real time combat and turn based.

The over world travel is not what I had hoped, it was more of a see your map and travel here, then your character appears at the point of travel. Similar to like Baldur's Gate. So, if you want open world travel ala the Elder Scrolls that doesn't really happen here.

You get to make choices and others react to your choices...don't know if in the end it makes a difference to the overall story or not to be honest.

In the end, it definitely feels more like a licensed MOVIE type title I am sure many of you have played before (Transformers, Ironman etc.) That's my take on a 4-5 hours or so of game play a few weeks ago. I'd bite for sure today if it was $10. At $20, its a good deal but I almost feel as if it should've been priced this way from the get go. Still, I like the series and the game was alright so I may just get it for 20 bucks....I'm still debating with the cheapass in me. Not sure if that's good or not after having already played it....but it is what it is.

Thanks for that description, now I'm definitely going to bite. If the story is interesting and it's like a lesser Baldurs Gate, that's all I'm really asking for.
haha u made me smile :D
Haha, dude, it's awful, lucky I've had stuff to trade in, but I've probably spent like 250+ there in the past two months. I mean, I know that's nothing compared to some people on this site, but when my only vice is video games(and the occassional beer), it's too damned much haha. Especially since I haven't even counted my backlog in a while, and I haven't played probably more than two or three of the PS3 games that I own...

Well...the over world travel is like the one in BG but the overall game itself can't hold a candle to the classic BG series. Just making sure you don't get disappointed.

What I liked is that the story does feel as if GRRM did in fact have some influence over it. How much, and did he write the story himself or whatever I am not sure but it does 'feel' like a F&I story. I read in Game Informer that he supposedly did have contact with the devs so again, how much influence did he have I don't know.

I'd compare the game quality (not story, just the game) of this to one of the Micheal Bay 'Transformers' movie games. Great potential that went wrong somewhere along the line (maybe not enough dev time?) but you see the potential of a good game there.

You wont find the great Elder Scrolls graphics here, nor will you find the open world-ness but despite the graphics and gameplay there's a decent story here and some potential.

I just used the stock locator and most of the stores around me say "Unavailable" and don't have a ship to store option. That just means that there's 3 or less copies right? Or does that mean Best Buy is actually trying to get rid of this game completely or will not carry it again once supplies run out similar to Kingdoms of Amalur?

Hard to say. I wondered this myself about Tera. I can't seem to find any store around my area or my parent's house that has restocked this game since the DOTD. I've been wanting to use my @Gamer coupon and get it for $10, but I've had no luck finding it anywhere.

I remember reading that some people were saying it was going to be discontinued? No clue if that's true though since I didn't see any official sources on that.

This may not be even close, but for anyone who has played this and Dungeon Siege III which one would you say is better? I f'n loved Dungeon Siege III when it got trashed pretty good by most people and I'm wondering if this could be the same type of situation.
I was about to cave, but the 3 stores near me are all "unavailable".

I will take that as a sign to wait!
i thought free shipping is available? LOL
i thought free shipping is available? LOL
Yeah, I used a gift card and only owned like $0.61. I only bit since I have a feeling that once these are gone, they're gone. And Best Buy charging $44.99 for the used versions helped me make my decision too.

That's okay with me. I loved the first book(I haven't read the others yet, don't judge me too much) and I still have the show to watch(I own it, but I'm terrible at following through on watching things, see; Boardwalk Empire and Mad Men), but it's okay with me to have this sit on my backlog for a few weeks.

They're totally different. I played a little of GoT when it first released as a rental. Overall I liked DSIII better but GoT story is really good.

Agreed. I had a blast with DSIII. I bit on GoT too, so hopefully ill enjoy it. If not, it trades in for $14 so with bonus it'll be $21.

I bit, just picked it up in-store. I have no games to play right now except Gears of War 3. No backlog kind of put me over the hump to go and buy it.

I beat X-Men Destiny today which I bought for $10 on Sunday and so I traded to Best Buy and put it towards GoT.

No backlog! How do you have no backlog???

LOL this was exactly what I was thinking. Out of my 157 PS3 games, I've only beaten 77.

i didnt like ds3. i was hoping i would but it was very meh. i played it on normal and blahed though some, i played it on the hardest difficulty and was angry at how cheap it was being.

still cant decide if i want got.

atlus faithful sent me an email telling me best buy had it at $20 lol
Self control... What this mean???
i hear its this ancient lost art. ive however through research been unable to deduce what it refers to.
No backlog! How do you have no backlog???
I used to have backlogs, but it got to the point that I would never even get to the backlogged games for most of them in the past. I guess because at the time (for any cheap game) it seems like a great deal, then 3 months later I'm questioning whether or not I even want to play the game anymore. So now, I try not to have a backlog exceed more than 3-5 games so I can play the games and beat them in a timely manner or else I may lose interest.

I have a backlog in TV shows, however. Currently watching Six Feet Under then I have The Wire, The Sopranos, and Carnivale.

I loved Six Feet Under, The Wire & Carnivale. I still need to watch the later seasons of The Sopranos. HBO series are usually pretty top notch. I just wish Carnivale got the full release of 5 seasons instead of 2 seasons. Such a great show that got shafted.

I'm in the same boat. I wrestled back and forth about getting GoT and after finally watching a video review, and seeing the "problems" in the flesh, I decided to pass...

Given your avatar is L, I assume you meticulously plan everything, thus no backlog :applause:

Hmm... I went back and forth on whether or not to pick up GoT, and then the deal ended before midnight PT. Oh well, looks like Best Buy made my decision for me.

You guys are hardcore. I'm currently enjoying a free month of PS+ and try to finish just cause 2. Then I only have infamous, Deus ex and KoA, all from BB...so bring on another wave do DotDs...I can handle it...I think

Deus Ex will takie away many hours, as well as Reckoning. If you play them straight through and for buy anything for 1-2 months, you may not create a backlog.

Yeah my backlog really isn't that bad, but then again I'll put a game down halfway through it if I get bored or want to play something else. And if I don't really like the game, I'll just get rid of it. Games like Oblivion and Skyrim will probably never be finished.

Currently only sitting on like 50 Xbox 360 games, and 2 PS3 games.
