Thanx htz, you have a damn good memory.
Not really, the remote rarely drops in price so when it does it's easy to recall how much it dropped.
icon10.gif

I watch a lot of netflix/movies/blu-rays on my PS3 and the remote could be useful and I always detest plugging in my controller into the tiny cable it comes with. I want this but I don't need it and $15 can go a long ways on Black Friday. Well, every store here in my area has it in stock so I guess I can decide tomorrow.

Right. Also want to add that it was the newer remote that was $14.99.

Damn - I have one of the older ones already (that gets used all the time to run Netflix - really useful to let the family beat that up instead of an expensive DS3 controller). I was really hoping this was for the new one when I saw the thread title since I have another PS3 upstairs and the PS 3D display to boot. Oh wells...
This is the older remote in this bundle too. Doesnt have VOlume or channel or 3d toggle button

Too bad this won't work with the PS3 display.
Thanks for the info, almost bought it..

just double checking: this is the regular ps3 remote youd normaly buy for 25 bucks right? I bought one for my dad a few weeks ago but havent opened it. I'll take it back and pick this up if thats the case. Can anyone verify quickly? Looking at the info it appears to be the same one

Yes it is the official Sony PS3 remote that is normally $24.99 but REMEMBER it is the first edition/version.

It is still a fine remote but Sony recently (within the last year or so) released a second version that can power on your TV, control volume, change the channels, toggle 3D, operate a receiver, etc.

This is still 100x better then using a DS3 and well worth the money.

Well what i'd been using was the old one anyway. My father has a control 4 system anyway for his room so i dont think he needs volume and power and stuff. I'll have to look at the one i picked up for him and see if its the old or new. I would think for this price its fine without the volume and other options anyway
Take another look. Remember the take is after the $5 RZ cert.
It is? I never noticed, I assumed cents work like gift cards?

Crap, I bought before checking to see if it worked the PS3 3D Display, only f'n tv I've EVER bought that didn't come with a remote control. F'n ridiculous. I'd rather have a remote control than a crappy Motorstorm game...anyhow....

Guess I'll sell the remote on Ebay/Craigslist and keep the charge dock. Or maybe return the whole thing, I don't know. I've got to decide if I'd rather have a charge dock or just get another 10' USB cable (sold my slim PS3 to help offset the cost of the super slim I'm buying soon, had to give the buyer the 10' cable b/c I couldn't find the one that came with the ps3).

I honestly didn't know PS3 wireless controllers required special chargers until now, ROTFL. I am definitely buying my second controller wired so I don't have to deal with it being a even bigger pain in the ass when I try to use it with my PC.

Easiest $16 to spend ever - I was going to have to spend at least $20 on it and a Blu-Ray remote anyway. Thanks everyone!

Special chargers? Umm, they don't. It's just a USB mini, costs like $4 on Ebay/amazon.

Now, the remote control, yeah, it takes AA batteries, which I think is stupid. It's at least as stupid as Sony selling a TV without a remote control. Why couldn't they have put a lithium ion battery in that as well? And why couldn't they have figured out a way to let the PS3 controller control the PLAYSTATION 3D Display?

But, to be fair, the 360 controllers are much worse. Not only is the battery life crap, but for those, you actually do have to get a special charger of some sort (play n charge kit, or quick charge kit, and I think I've seen docks, too) unless you want to constantly replace AA batteries. Either way, it's more expensive for an inferior controller with less battery life and older wireless technology. [Not hating, 360 fanboys, just pointing out facts, I own and really enjoy both systems].

Yeah, I decided to just return this. They wouldn't let me cancel the order, despite the fact that it hasn't shipped yet.

Darn, you are absolutely right and it costs even less than $4 now that I took another look. And yes, I do 100% agree with you with the 360 wireless controllers because it gives me problems all of the time.

Still, I would have liked to have a Blu-Ray remote at some point in time (although I could get it used) and it might save me a few bucks, but it's still decent enough as is for a price. Even if I wanted to return it to save a few bucks I would lose the money in gas and a good bit of time. It's just best for me to go "good enough" - darn, and I was the one complaining that the BF 2011 deal wasn't good enough last year...

I have a sony bravia TV and the remote for that also works on the 3D display, and I also have a Sony Blu Ray player and the remote for that works for changing volume on both the TV and display, but now I'm curious if it'd work on my PS3 as well

Probably not. IR vs. Bluetooth.

Dang, I've just been wanting the charging the station. This deal is just insane. Store pickup won't be ready till next week, but I'm in no hurry for it. Thanks, OP!

Well if Sony did not make their controller the size perfect for a 10 year old girl maybe it would use some more juice. :) I play Sony exclusives but that controller is the # 1 reason I do not game exclusively on it. I like the 360 controller. The new battery pack gets you 20 hours between charges and with 2 it is not that bad.

I get about 40 hours on the PS3 controller, one charge, and I didn't have to buy anything extra to charge it. Err, well, I did buy a 10' cable but that's because I lost the one with it (move a lot).

Yeah I like the 360 controller, my 2nd favorite controller of all-time, but the PS controller is my favorite. It's the same shape since the PS1 which I got in the late 90s, I think around 97-98, so roughly 14-15 years I've been used to that controller, so of course it's my favorite. The PS controller feels 100% natural to me in every way. The 360 controller still, after 5 or so years of owning a 360, feels a little odd to me. I like the L2 and R2 buttons on it better, but the L1 and R1 buttons on the 360 are horrible imo.

I recently got an adapter that lets you use a PS2 controller on the 360. I really got it so I could use the PS2 controller on the PC, but it's nice knowing I can get the PS2 controller out if I'm playing against friends on a fighting game on the 360. I pretty much only buy fighting games on the PS3 because of the controller though. Otherwise, I try buying based on Eurogamer/Digital Foundry and Lens of Truth comparisons.

"Cool story bro" lol
Is this the new remote that also works on TV's or the old style remote that just controls the PS3?
Old style for just the PS3.

I am in the same boat. I use my PS3 just for a blu-ray player pretty much. $15 can get some decent stuff from Amazon on BF.

Me too. I'm fine with just plugging in my controller and let my movies play. If the remote controlled my TV I would have bought this, I'll pass on this one.

I don't understand Sony. The new remote come out before or at the same time as this bundle, but they include the old remote. Maybe they pulled all the old remotes to sell in this bundle. Now I understand Sony. :applause:

I'm glad you came to an understanding of Sony after your post.

In for the remote/charger bundle, store closest to me had it in stock. Thanks OP.

Looks like I got the last one as its now showing OOS for my store.

I already have the 3DTV remote so I figure I could just sell this one or trade it in to Amazon and keep the charger.

 1. Memento (2000), MPAA Rating: R
 2. Insomnia (2002), MPAA Rating: R
 3. Batman Begins (2005), MPAA Rating: PG-13
 4. The Dark Knight (2008), MPAA Rating: PG-13
 5. Inception (2010), MPAA Rating: PG-13
for $20. :)

It's missing the Prestige and Following, but other than that, looks like all the prior special features has carried over from before. I only have The Dark Knight and Memento and only on DVD so I"m in.

Edit: Order in process of being fulfilled. Estimated arrival date: 11/07/2012 - 11/08/2012.

I bought the Nolan collection. It's too good of a deal to pass up. It will make a good gift to somebody. I already own Batman Begins, Dark Knight, & Inception all steelbooks so I don't plan on keeping it.
Warner Bros. Already announced a "special edition" boxset of the whole Nolan Bat films on Blu next year, so I can wait.
I figured as much, hence I am waiting as well.

Glad I was able to grab one of these in time. I already traded in my Batman Begins and Dark Knight Blu-Rays in anticipation of the trilogy set, now I only need the basic Blu and I can get rid of my Mememto DVD as well.
Good deal, but sold out already. Also missing Prestige, my favorite non-Batman Nolan.
:br: The Prestige is $7.99 :shipfree: on Bestbuy.com and $7.99 FSSS @Amazon.com

Backordered, but you can still place an order. I did the same thing when Best Buy had the Looney Tunes Collection on Blu Ray as a DOTD and my order was eventually fulfilled.

Mine too...nearly 2 months later! Not that I care, it was kinda funny. That set is amazing.

I hope disney gives its shorts that treatment someday. Some of the Treasures collections are getting so spendy that I don't even want to take them out often for fear that they are the one and only time they will be released in complete sets.
