▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

Damn, where is the $99 version?? EDIT: Nevermind, apparently it's a GameStop exclusive?

I'm also curious if the $10 promo applies to the digital versions. I'd miss out on GCU, but I think I'd rather have this game digitally.

On the Best Buy forums, the reps are saying this now works on Digital copies

If you have been a member in the last few years you likely remember our Get $10 offer. We hadn't had any titles since the start of this year, but now that Destiny 2 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 have been announced we have been able to include them on the list. New this time around is the inclusion of digital games to the offer. If you pre-order a full game download of any eligible title you are eligible to receive the $10 certificate within 20 days of the release date.

Where's a visa checkout deal when you need one? Would be great to stack this on top of the GCU and VC whenever bestbuy runs one again...
This is exactly what I'm waiting for. I still have several orders left from the last two, but I'm hoping to get these and some other new games that were given release dates for later in the year.

Yeah cause BBY has control on giving the games the offers. Plus those are first party games from both Sony and Nintendo, they don't get $10.
As it is their promotion, I'd say they had TOTAL control. Also, if I remember correctly (could be wrong), there were multiple first party games that got the promo treatment.

Yeah the attach rate for Zelda really took a hit with no $10 certificate.
Zelda (on Switch) may not have overall, but Best Buy lost it's edge over Amazon's Amazon Prime. :)

Best Buy doesn't do it unless the publisher agrees to give a kickback. They are already making only $2 or less when they sell a $60 game at $48.

For current generation PS4/XB1 there has not been a single Sony title that got $10, there may have been a MS title, not 100% there. And no they do not have total control. Manufacturers have control over what promotions and sales happen with their stuff. I think the only thing they don't have impact with is clearance because the store is basically saying "we'll take the loss we just need it gone".

Companies, esp game companies do not want some of their titles to have a lower perceived value especially right out of the gate. So any sale or promotion for a big AAA game they think will sell well regardless does not get sales for a few weeks. Best Buy has partnerships with manufacturers and they don't want to hurt those relationships so they work hand in hand.

Awesome!

Now... does anyone have experience with digital pre-orders from Best Buy? I'm curious how they work. Do you get the code immediately, so you can enter it on PSN right away? Then it's treated the same as a PSN pre-order, complete with pre-load, countdown, and midnight unlock? Or... does Best Buy not send the code until release day, and you have to download it then?

This might be an unpopular opinion but I hope we get Modern Warfare 2 Remastered this year.
Has anyone more in the loop with these matters heard anything about it?
Or are they saving it for next year when the much less anticipated sequel to WWII comes out ( Ha, this might actually happen IRL {J/K} )

Response from Best Buy via forums:

"Unless specific pre-load details are called out on a games product page digital codes usually start getting emailed out very early the morning of release. At this time there are no pre-load details for Destiny 2. However seeing as we’re still quite a ways away from release this may change, so I recommend keeping an eye on the titles product page for any updates on pre-loading. Let me know if you have any other questions."

Next year is Treyarch's turn, so if we got a remastered game it would be World at War or BLOPS 1.

I doubt we get another remastered game this year though.

I wouldn't mind world at war. That one was pretty good until the hackers got hold of it.

I doubt we get another remastered game this year though.

Sigh, I wish Bestbuy would give $10 credit for actual good games and not MountainDewdbro ones.

Thanks! I guess I'm crossing my fingers for 2019. 2020? Hopefully not that late. Maybe they'll actually come to their senses and release it sooner and stand alone. Maybe between WWII and next year's version.

OK, that one is tempting!  But I should probably play the first game, bought on sale months ago and waiting patiently in my backlog ever since, before I buy the second game.

Shadow of War too, I think.

So a friend of mine went to best buy to pre-order injustice and they said they no longer do in store pre-orders. I went to my local store and they said the same. That really sucks that I can't just put five down on a game anymore. I'm in NJ. Is this a nationwide thing now?

Don't forget, if there's another Visa Checkout offer sometime soon, you can get it even cheaper then. That's what I'm holding out for before pre-ordering.
Even without Visa Checkout, I think most of the games that fall in the "Holiday" extended release window (anything from November 1st to the end of the year) are worth getting as this means you can basically price adjust through January. Obviously this is more useful to those without Elite / Elite Plus. That said, having a Visa Checkout deal on top of that would be icing on the cake IMO.

Seems like you both somehow found some uninformed employees. In-store preorders are definitely still a thing.

So, I know that the $10 reward is one per account. but what about codes and trinkets? I want to order two copies of injustice 2. Preorder comes with a darkseid code but we obviously need 2. Anyone experienced with this?

Best Buy rules ! who would ever shop at gamestop when you get 20% off with them and they ship free to your house ! I'd almost pay 20% extra for a game not to have to set foot in a gamestop :)

You should get any physical/digital pre-order bonuses for each copy you purchase.

Any issues you experience are likely to be based on something else (code glitches, stock issues, etc.), not the fact you pre-ordered more than one.
