To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.
that's weird. according to OP's list, Metal Gear 3 (PS2) is $4.99. but i saw one for $ 9.99.

same thing with Rogue Trooper (xbox), i saw two different prices: $4.99 & $9.99.

and Metal Gear Acid (PSP), wasn't that $9.99 at Target?
Maybe it depends on which MGS3 it is? I got Snake Eater for $4.99 AC (front-row stickered at $9.99) and a few copies of Subsistence stickered at $4.99 (but those had yellow clearance stickers). I ran into the same thing with One Piece Pirate's Carnival (PS2) - some were $4.99 and others were $9.99, but both were front-row stickers.

Metal Gear Ac!d 2 (PSP) is now $9.99 at BB. Looks like this OP wasn't updated, but I think the price drop was mentioned in another BB thread.
Canadian market packaging.
But how did that end up in a store in Oregon?
But how did that end up in a store in Oregon?
That isn't uncommon. If you'll pay attention to packaging, I'm sure you'll notice a lot of products in stores with North American packaging (spanish/english/french).
I saw Hitman: Bloody Money (PS2) $10, Alias (XBOX) $5 and Dr. Muto (XBOX) $5. I wonder Alias & Dr. Muto is worth $5 each ??
Don't know anything about Alias, but they should pay YOU $5 for playing Dr Muto.

Man, I want that Sega Genesis one.....I've looked high and low......well....my fave Genesis games were live 95-8 of the basketball and hockey king, so f it. Those games on wifi are my wet dream.

Right. NAFTA requires spanish/english/french.
But the weird thing is, this had NO spanish. It was all english and french.
Maybe all these front lane games are canadian rejects.

now that you mentioned it, i did saw One Piece Pirate's Carnival (PS2) for $4.99 and $9.99. i dunno why, but there's two set of prices.

even for the MSG3, which is really confusing. you have snake eater and subsistence for two sets of prices. :bomb:
Hit a Best Buy this weekend and saw but didnt get:

Reseviour dogs ps2 9.99
Cold Fear $ 4.99 XBOX
Hitman Contracts XBox $4.99
Just cause XBOX $4.99 :hot:
Rogue Trooper XBOX $4.99
Demon Stone XBOX $ 4.99

Thats pretty decent selection of games. Too bad I already have them .Just Cause was in the normal game Isle marked $29.99.
i'd probably get Just Cause (xbox) for that $4.99, if only i didn't purchased the 360 version at CC last week.

same thing with Hitman Contracts (xbox) and Demon Stone (xbox) for that price also.

too bad none of the BB around here has it.....well not yet i suppose.
Also, I just checked my local BB, and they did get about a dozen R&C Size Matters! Needless to say, now my local GameCrazy has a dozen new R&C Size Matters!

KEKEKEKE
I've been trying to find this for $9.99 since I read about it here. Where is your local store? It seems this is a west coast thing?

I'm gonna have to check my local BB for R&C; I REALLY want this game and at $9.99 I can't pass it up. One of my BB stores seems to have a decent variety but the other just sucks ass.

It is probably not there. These front row games seem to be hideously localized.

And, like I said, they all went to GameCrazy anyway.

I've gone to 5 different Best Buys here in Los Angeles and no luck with seeing any copies of R&C!!! Two locations didn't have the front row section and had moved those games to the regular video game section. They all had a terrible selection.
This won't really work. You can identify the front lane games by the white price stickers in the upper right corner of these sealed games. On the back, covering the original UPC codes, will be another white sticker with a new UPC code, only these are generic UPC codes which apply to *every* game utilizing that particular price (or at the very least, every game utilizing that particular price for that particular system). So that's how they're identified.

You can't use the inventory system to know whether they have any certain particular title because of this. When all games have identical UPCs, they're not distinguishable one from another. In fact, if you buy one (*any* one), the BB register will ring it up as "Front Lane" only, with no title designation anywhere on the receipt. It's the same story at any retailer, only the identification on the receipt might come up differently (i.e. at K-Mart, they ring up as "Video Game").

So there you go. It's hit and miss, whether any particular store will have any given title or not. It is what it is.
Alright, thanks. It'd be nice if I can find Yakuza for $9.99, I've been wanting to play it for a while and to get it for that cheap would be excellent.
are all the gamepro coupons dead since they stopped selling the books at BB
They're still around. Someone on here mentioned that he had the new coupons, but no scanner. Also, I think he said they expire on the 21st.

No kidding, I can't believe a CAG didn't come through with a scan for this month. They are already almost expired! Someone out there has to have a set and a scanner!
Ratchet & Clank PSP for $9.99? How so, online it says it's still $40...
::bangs head against wall::

Does anyone actually take the time to *read* a thread anymore? Geez...

because those front row games are random for every store. similar to boxes of trading cards.

wow, 5 BB stores huh. so you spent on gas with an equivalent of 5 games ($ 4.99 ea.) ? ;)

just relax and breath slowly. you see those stars circling around your head? well that's what you get for banging hard. #-o

Anyone that likes Strategy games should pick up Magic the Gathering Battlegrounds. Wonderful, EXCELLENT game that was totally unfairly overlooked when it was released. I never noticed it myself til a friend demanded I try his copy and DAMN it's unique AND great.

Pick it up if you like strategy. A total STEAL at $5 if you see it.

Yeah, I've passed that up many times but I might snag it now. Wasn't it just added to the BC list (I only have a 360)?

IT's now BC on XBOX360 :)

That M:tG Battlegrounds endorsement would have been a LOT more helpful had it come several months ago when my BBs HAD that game.

Same thing here in Richmond VA. I havent seen any shipper display refreshes at BB for around 2 months.

Yeah well LA is huge and there are a lot Best Buys everywhere that happen to be along my commute. :)

If anyone lives near the Best Buy in Whitehall, PA, could you please let me know of any PSP games or PS2 games that are on the front row? It would be gladly appreciated.

I've seen copies of Astonisha Story PSP for $9.99... I've been to several Best Buy locations recently and noticed that only 1 had the display up..

Thanks guys. Picked up Tales of Symphonia for 10 bucks.

Didn't see anything cool outside of Bible Adventure for 5 bucks. ;)

where you at? didnt know there were any CAGs near me...

i will check prob tomorrow, i'll note down any PSP or PS2 games. last time i was there they had 1 copy of Astonishia Story and some One Piece games for PS2.
OP updated for those who haven't been graced with the ability to read normal print.
OK

Props, DS. You've said what we've all been thinking.

I think some people here read Manga.

They all start at the back page rather than the front page. Hence not being able to read deathscythe's microscopic disclaimer.

Indeed, OP. I do so appreciate the way you handled this. Satisfying, and yet, rightly done!

Thanks a bunch I really appreciate that, its such a pain to get to that Best Buy, you have to go all the way down MacArthur Road into Allentown to turn around to go the other way. I live in Schnecksville, its about 10 minutes away from Whitehall.

I stopped by a Best Buy last night and they had exactly the same games they had last time I was there about a month ago. I swear, it looked like it hadn't been touched. No Magic battlegrounds for Xbox - only 8+ copies of the Bible Game and some sports games. Only Puzzle Challenge and The Con for PSP. There were a few more things like One Piece. I did find a DS Harvest Moon which had clearly been restocked in the regular section AND was able to get them to accept one of the June GamePro coupons with no problem. Yay for me.

But what the hell, I saw Ratchet & Clank in the regular section and it was marked $39.99. WTF?

(and just in case since I'm sure someone will take that seriously - it was a joke!)

Id like to pick up an extra copy of The Con. The character creation mode is well worth the price for AD HOC. Magic the gathering, Ive passed that up , is that a card, turned based RPG?

Knowing it was you who was saying it, io, I was laughing as I read it. Nice. ;)

Well, I hit up 3 Best Buy's today. One had moved just down the road and I feared the frontlane section would be removed (as it became one of the new-style Best Buys with the sectioned off registers in the left corner). It was still there, but not so great. I picked up a Demon Stone, but couldn't find Magic Battlegrounds or whatever that is. I did see Arc the Lad End of Darkness at $9.99. Oh, and a Godzilla Save The Earth (for Xbox). Isn't that rare or something? I know the PS2 version was, anyway. I snagged it for $5 just in case ;).

Just to try it, I picked up a Gunpey and Harvest Moon DS (non-frontlane but only $9.99) and used two of the June Gamepro coupons - they worked just fine ;).

Then I went to another store that used to be one of the better frontlane ones, hoping for R&C and Field Commander. At this store they have removed the frontlane display. They still had the crappy DVD one, just not the game one .

Finally, I cruised into the newest Best Buy in my area to see if, by some miracle, they had installed a frontlane display since the last time I was there. No dice...

So, of the 4 stores I've been to the last 2 days, only 2 had any frontlane stuff and not much was new in there at all. They all seem to have been restocked with piles of Harvest Moon DS, though, if anyone is still looking for that. There is one more I can go to, but it is way out there and I can't bring myself to trudge over there for the inevitable disappointment. I could try calling to see what frontlane games they have but I just have a feeling that will be difficult (I don't want to find out they have regular R&C's for $39.99).

Edit -, OK, Godzilla Save The Earth is worthless on Xbox (about $7 on ebay) but I'll keep it to play, no problem (if it is BC that is). The PS2 version is incredibly rare for some reason though - I can't even find a completed auction new or used.

I hit one up myself, and again: no dice on R&C front lane-style. I'm starting to think that the front lane R&C deal is strictly west coast, since *nothing* like that is being seen here in the Detroit area.

Also, I'm starting to get a bit concerned that Metal Slug Anthology is staying at $40, and is *still* disappearing at that price. I was thinking it'd be $20 sooner or later, and it doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon.

Nuts.

That's why I sold my PS2 copy on Ebay some time back for $70+. Was able to replace it with a $4.99 Xbox copy. :D
