To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.

from the top of my head:

Army Men: Sarge War (xbox) - $9.99
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (xbox) - $ 9.99
Golden Eye: Rogue Agent (xbox/GC) - $ 9.99
Everything or Nothing (xbox) - $ 9.99
Spiderman [movie] (xbox) - $ 9.99

that's all. i'll try to swing by again and at another location for anything new, tonight.
Oops. I forgot to type "PSP" above Loco and Outrun.
Loco Roco is psp only, so that was fine. Clarification does help on multi-platform games.

If it was for the Xbox, I'd pick it up for you as I don't have an Xbox. ;)
Aww. =)

Somehow, I've never seen this thread.

Thanks OP, I'm going to pick up the One Piece Gamecube games for my younger nephew, he likes the anime and whatnot. It's a shame there isn't a $5.00 off coupon at the moment.

I saw Urban Reign for $9.99

and whoa, Guinevere, is that $9.99 for Yakuza universal? I'd buy it in a second at that price.

I've only found the one at the Best Buy on Cobb Parkway in Marietta/Cumberland. My bro swiped that one from me. If I find anymore locally, you know I'll pick up for y'all.

I'm in the ATL area like you and I haven't seen it in any stores in the Gwinnett/Dekalb areas, Mall of Georgia or downtown. I know frontlane can be YMMV, but this is ridiculous. Mostly cause I'd really like to grab Yakuza. ;)
Ratchet and Clank PSP just released! $10? That's a steal!
That's what I was about to say. It's an amazing game for $10.

I have never been rejected once for expired coupons... probably used like 20.

If anyone finds Primal for 5$; please nab an extra for a fellow CAG... my BBs dont have it.

My local BB stores did not have Ratchet & Clank for $9.99 - they are still selling it for $40.

But I did see Hot Shots Golf for the PSP in the $10 bin in the front of the store, which I had not seen before. I passed since I prefer my Tiger Woods golf games, though.

I hadn't really cared for HS games in the past either (more of a Mario Golf fan), but this one is really good. I just got my PSP about a week ago and was lucky enough to get this for $5 around the same time. Though I already had a lot of other games I was looking forward to playing and didn't expect much from HS, is was the first game I tryed and I've yet to play anything else. If you can find a BB that has it for $10 you shouldn't pass it by, whether or not they'll take the $5 coupon.
Online BB still has Ratchet and Clank (PSP) for 39.99...is that $9.99 confirmed by anyone?
I think people are confused as to what a Front Row game is. They are not regular stock games, repriced. They are from a different vendor and the UPC is covered with a different code. They are not available through the web site. Generally you will find them in a blue or green box near the registers with big generic price stickers.

If you find the same exact game in the normal shelving or online, it will ring up whatever Best Buy has determined the price to be for their own game stock. This could be anywhere from MSRP down to the $1.99 clearance prices.

I just don't see how a recently released R&Clank: Size Matters for the PSP could be $9.99 - whoever the vendor is.

Again, I ask - Is it confirmed, meaning, has anyone actually found R&C for the PSP for $9.99?

My guess is it's a PS2 R&C game...not the PSP title....
Wow, Yakuza for $9.99. I doubt I'll be able to find a copy in the Front Row bin though.
Stopped by 2 Best Buys yesterday. No sign of Yakuza or Ratchet and Clank.

The one good thing was that one of the BBs had PSP Gunpey. This BB did not have it awhile ago, which means these things do restock.

My copy of Total Overdose wasn't in the "front lane" it was back in the stock with the rest of the game. Yakuza might be the same way.
My copy of Total Overdose wasn't in the "front lane" it was back in the stock with the rest of the game. Yakuza might be the same way.
I've seen some stores get rid of the front lane boxes and just mix these games in with the rest of the stock, so it's worth checking. That doesn't change the fact that these are still the front lane games with the white stickers and generic UPCs, as normal stock games will come up more expensive most of the time.

Yeah my store had Yakuza and Ratchet and Clank, but they weren't "front-rowed" and were found in the usual spot and rang up full price. This whole thing seems a bit odd. Could the store theoretically get new copies of Yakuza in stock to be stickered at 9.99 while another copy sits across the store that will ring up 39.99? I'm not sure I understand the rationale.

Since they aren't re-pricing stock they already have, would it be false to assume a store might recieve a shipment of the 9.99 versions of some of these games?

roc's feather;3122453]Yeah my store had Yakuza and Ratchet and Clank said:
They very well could have stock of both "versions". And yes, it is almost more likely they will get a new shipment of $9.99 ones than the original versions.

These frontlane games are for cheap impulse purchases - like National Enquirer or register candy . So whatever the company that provides these decided to stock is what that particular Best Buy will get - independent of whatever they may have in the regular game section.

As deathscythehe says, though, sometimes these games get mixed back into the regular stock. This could be for a variety of reasons - simply customers moving them around, clueless employees thinking they are out of place, or just a manager's decision to remove or rearrange the frontlane section.

A brand new Best Buy that just opened close to me, unfortunately, doesn't even have a frontlane section and has NO $9.99 stickered games in stock at all. They did, for some reason, have a few of the last $4.99 clearance games in stock (like Jak II, The Warriors, etc) which I found very odd. THESE ring up cheap with the normal UPC.
Ratchet & Clank: Size matters for psp still rings up at $39.99 and NOT $9.99
Please read the last few pages and the op. As it's been stated numerous times, this is NOT for the normal stocked game.

I went this morning to get Ratchet and Clank. I also found Field Commander for $9.99, Sega Genesis Collection $9.99, and Gunpey $9.99. These are all PSP games. There were a few others that I forgot, but the list isn't up to date.

You *also* found those others? Meaning you *did* find Ratchet and Clank for the PSP for $9.99? I'm still looking for another confirmation at a different store to wonder if I'm going to be seeing it for $9.99 in my area. Haven't seen it yet.

You are correct. They had about 3 more copies of R&C at the Chino Hills CA store.

I went searching for R&C:SM at my local Best Buy (Fresno CA) & noticed a few new games on the shelf:

Tales Of Symphonia (GH) $9.99
Socom 3 (PS2) $9.99
Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire (PSP) $9.99

I thought about the Socom 3, but heard that it was the worst in the series, so I passed on it.

Yikes! I'd love to get Field Commander for that price! I'll have to check out Best Buy again... I almost went tonight but had other stuff to do so I passed it up! D'oh!

Th3 Plan [sic] PS2 $10

A $5 savings off MSRP, and not too bad from what I've played so far, if you like Mission Impossible 64 type stuff with a pinch of Splinter Cell played to the tune of Ocean's Eleven.

I actually managed to find a "Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters" for $9.99 front row stickered yesterday!

Also saw NBA Street Showdown (PSP) for $9.99 that I hadn't seen there before.

Ooh, Th3 Plan gets bonus points for not falling into the traps of typical bargain priced games. Frequent check points, short load times, skippable cutscenes, and apparently trying to avoid monotony by effectively saying "Okay, you brought the first guy over doing this. We are just going to skip the second guy coming over and say you did it the same way."

Also, I just checked my local BB, and they did get about a dozen R&C Size Matters! Needless to say, now my local GameCrazy has a dozen new R&C Size Matters!

Of which variety? The $9.99 front lane version, or the $39.99 regular priced version?

Is there a way to tell the Front Row games from the "normal" ones? I'd write down the UPC codes for them, but if I found for Yakuza I wouldn't need to be looking for it among the regular bins!

that's weird. according to OP's list, Metal Gear 3 (PS2) is $4.99. but i saw one for $ 9.99.

same thing with Rogue Trooper (xbox), i saw two different prices: $4.99 & $9.99.

and Metal Gear Acid (PSP), wasn't that $9.99 at Target?

but hey, even some Target store has some frontlane game deals. coz their frontlanes would either have DVDs, bottles of Champagne, and even Toys.
Is there a way to tell the Front Row games from the "normal" ones? I'd write down the UPC codes for them, but if I found for Yakuza I wouldn't need to be looking for it among the regular bins!
This won't really work. You can identify the front lane games by the white price stickers in the upper right corner of these sealed games. On the back, covering the original UPC codes, will be another white sticker with a new UPC code, only these are generic UPC codes which apply to *every* game utilizing that particular price (or at the very least, every game utilizing that particular price for that particular system). So that's how they're identified.

You can't use the inventory system to know whether they have any certain particular title because of this. When all games have identical UPCs, they're not distinguishable one from another. In fact, if you buy one (*any* one), the BB register will ring it up as "Front Lane" only, with no title designation anywhere on the receipt. It's the same story at any retailer, only the identification on the receipt might come up differently (i.e. at K-Mart, they ring up as "Video Game").

So there you go. It's hit and miss, whether any particular store will have any given title or not. It is what it is.

It's the white sticker. Front row games usually have one on front with the price and one over the barcode.

Hit a Best Buy this weekend and saw but didnt get:

Reseviour dogs ps2 9.99
Cold Fear $ 4.99 XBOX
Hitman Contracts XBox $4.99
Just cause XBOX $4.99 :hot:
Rogue Trooper XBOX $4.99
Demon Stone XBOX $ 4.99

Thats pretty decent selection of games. Too bad I already have them .Just Cause was in the normal game Isle marked $29.99.

The strange thing about the Total Overdose "front lane" game I picked up last week is that it came with a "Bonus" Tomb Raider DVD. And all the packaging was in English and French. (no spanish)
