To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.

I found a copy of Astonisha Story, but it rang up $1.99. This one was missing the sticker over the UPC, but did have the $9.99 sticker on the front. I went back and got another copy that did have the UPC-covering sticker, but it wouldn't ring up at all. The cashier called over someone who proceeded to scratch the sticker off, so I got 2 copies for $4.

Lucky bastard ;). They do often have a hard time scanning the frontlane UPC codes, but then they always just enter the UPC in manually. It was wierd for them to remove it but I guess with the other copy without the sticker they thought it should be that way .

My Best Buy just got rid of the front lane games too. I did find them all thrown into a huge bin though next to the music cds...though it was a pain to look through. Oh well..

i hope to hit up best buy tomorrow if i got time

got to

1. take blockbuster movies back
2. get drivers licence renewed
3. stop past ups to spend my 50 buck amex card i won back at xmas (anyone want 50 bucks in packing peanuts LOL )
4 stop past walmart and pick up some bubble enlvopes.

all after working 8 hours tomorrow weeeee. I might just do it in the morning and run past campus to see if i can print up those coupons.

Be sort of hard after work

get off work around 2. campus take 15 mins. Best buy 15 mins . then drive time hell that would mean i wouldnt get to the licence place till after 3 OUCH
sounds like YMMV they take old coupons as well?
Yeah, it all depends on who's working and if they bother to check the exp. date or not.

Is that a typo about Ratchet and Clank being $10 for the Playstation Portable?!? That JUST CAME OUT. It's won't be a greatest hits game until late this year at the earliest, and would be cheaper than Daxter! That can't be right, unless Best Buy screwed up :D

I'd take than and Yakuza in a second.

couldn't you use that card to buy the bubble envelopes and kill two birds with one stone?

Picked up the Regular Edition of Marc Ecko's Getting Up for 9.99. They also had 1 copy of Indigo Prophecy for 9.99 (these are both ps2)

So these are one of these Best Buy coupons that don't have the expiration date built in, huh? I printed them out, used it Sat and didn't realize until I got home they expired then.

Let's see if I can get lucky with these at the Buy...
Is that a typo about Ratchet and Clank being $10 for the Playstation Portable?!?
Does ANYONE read the OP or at least the last few pages of a thread?!?!

the UPS store sort of pissed me off today. After spending 30 bucks in 79 cent each bubble envlopes this lady walks up and goes

UMMMM you can use that card to buy stamps...

So the last 20 bucks i got 2 books of stamps got to love how a book of stamps is 8.40 Yet the UPS store charges 9.50 (shocked in a way they are allowed to sell stamps at a higher price then face vaule)

So i got like 40 bubble envlopes at 80 cents each
and 2 books of stamps for around 50 bucks

at least it didnt cost me anything since i won the 50 pt card off amex wishlist last xmas

At least i can use the 2 books of stamps for the mcdonald promo coming in oct

They had nothing worth buying in the games at best buy

Today, saw a couple new ones:

GC Simpsons Hit and Run 9.99
GBA Hugo: The Evil Mirror 9.99

Simpsons is a terrific game for that price.

Still striking out on Yakuza, R&C, Genesis Collection, and Magic Battlegrounds.

it is a universal drop at all the best buys in the country Ratchet and Clank for PSP is now 9.99.....just read the thread

Went to BB for Ratchet. Saw nothing in front row. Saw a copy of Ratchet in the normal section, asked a worker for a price check....the system said 39.99. Bummer. How is it possible to get it at 9.99 someone explain

Some of the Best Buys have gotten copies of Ratchet as one of the (now somewhat dissappearing) front lane games. If it has a big $9.99 price sticker on the front and a generic UPC sticker covering the original UPC on the back, it's a front lane game. This has been stated many, many times already in this thread.

something new:

$4.99
Mace Griffin (xbox)
Hitman 2: Silent Assassins (xbox)

$9.99
Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind (xbox)

$14.99
Full Metal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy (DS)
Megaman Zero 4 (GBA)

quick! ruuuuunnnnnn!!!

I found some at the best buy in milpitas,ca for fire enblem

This may sound like dumb question but those scan coupon can be printed and used right?

That's the idea ;). (Don't be upset if they reject them though as copies - it happens occasionally)

NO! NO! NO!

"

-Standard shipper's display disclaimer-

Dearest patron of the CAG, the games specifically mentioned in this thread are part of a wholesaler's shipper display featuring liquidated electronic media that have been fitted with special price and UPC stickers that override the original UPCs and MSRPs. These games do not affect, interact, co-mingle, or copulate with normal retail inventory. Thank you for your patronage.

"

I felt that had become necessary.
so if Ratchet and Clank PSP is marked 39.99....can I take it to the counter and have them adjust the price, or does it HAVE to have the white sticker?
I think this thread has made me lose all faith in people's ability to read.
Just to reiterate what the OP says:
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online.

:headache:

Just to reiterate, soonderdoc is wrong. This is not a universal price drop, and it says that nowhere in this thread. I guess the giant letters weren't big enough in the OP.
Front Row Game Normal Stock Game

The "front row" games at the Best Buy I went to yesterday weren't up front; the big blue boxes were put where the rest of the video games are. Heavily picked over, hopefully there will be more shipments, but since they moved the boxes I doubt there will be. :\

All I managed to find of interest was Reservoir Dogs for $4.99 (Xbox). I figured for $5, what the hell. :D

I never, ever see anything good there :whistle2:( Can't believe some of these fantastic games people are finding.

Mine just has junk that looks expensive at $5.
any sign of new coupons?
The newest set just recently expired, so it will be at least a few weeks. If there are any more coupons...
it is a universal drop at all the best buys in the country Ratchet and Clank for PSP is now 9.99.....just read the thread
^ I'm really surprised at a lot of people's reading comprehension, or lack of it.

If it's not in the first post, it's not really fair to yell at people. A lot of us just want to know what the deal is, and not take part in a 12 page discussion :)

I'll admit I wrote it rather small and barely mentioned it, but I figured that would be enough :p

On that note, would it be possible to get a mod in here to delete all the garbage and misleading posts? This thread is really getting full of them now, to the point where I'm considering making a new one.

hey, i always read first post. that's how i got the coupons.

normally, i check the first post to see updated prices, as shared by normal CAG members who contribute.

I went to Best Buy at lunch and R&C rang up for $40. It wasn't in the front row though. What's the deal?

At the risk of sounding retarded: There's a front row copy of MGS3 at my local BB marked for 10 bucks - is it priced as marked or $5 as the OP states?

Not retarded!

This is one where the OP is wrong, I think. I've always seen MGS3 front-laned at $9.99. Maybe there was a copy or two several months back at $4.99 but I think the normal front-lane pricing is $9.99. Of course, it is $4.99 after the GamePro coupon, so it makes little difference ;).

I haven't seen this one anywhere near me in awhile, but when I first saw it it was 4.99. I'll add the 9.99 price as well to the OP.
Without exception, these games are the price you see them tagged as.

Well didn't want to have a R&C induced frenzy leaping at me, lol. But yeah, good call on the coupon. I'll print one up right quick and head on over to BB tonight.

hm question where are these front row games located? When I browse BB I can't differentiate these "front row" games from normal games. All the games in the front row don't seem to be any different than the ones in back lol

well one example (what i normally see) would be Rogue Trooper (xbox).
i saw a copy at a BB with a $9.99 price sticker. at another BB, it has a $4.99 price sticker. i ended up getting the lower price, as soon as i saw it.

i found other two sets of prices, like MGS3, etc.

if you see either a white or yellow price sticker, then that's a front row game.

something like this:
Pictures courtesy of Sinistar and PocariSw

the only thing that would differentiate them would be a game title without a price sticker (so they use those plastic tabs) or if they use BB's very own yellow price sticker that has BestBuy labeled with price and SKU.

bottom line, if you see it price stickered like such, it's a front row game. if not, your screwed.

OP: you might wanna borrow those pics and paste them in the first post. i think some folks need some visual reference to get the whole idea.
hm question where are these front row games located? When I browse BB I can't differentiate these "front row" games from normal games. All the games in the front row don't seem to be any different than the ones in back lol
From the OP, first line.
To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section.
I'll add the images to the OP, but I doubt that'll help. If saying "big white sticker" isn't clear enough for some people, I don't know what is. I guess people aren't being taught basic adjectives in school anymore.

My BB used to have the games in the front row, but now they're moved to the middle of the store on racks. Still separate from the normal games though. And they have the telltale white stickers.
