:bomb: The values in the Lists do not match the values in the Estimator. What's up with that?
I don't know. It seems the Lists are usually updated on Sundays, and the TIVs are adjusted to reflect the List in a few days. But as trades are made, the TIVs may change and the Lists are not updated frequently. Again, check the Estimator for latest TIV.

The promo says "Trade 2..." or "Trade 3..." but I only want to trade 1 game, will I still get $x amount?
You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. The promo is titled "Trade 2" etc to make the giftcards sound more lucrative.

The 2 games I want to trade are worth more than $60 combined according to the Estimator. Does that mean I will only get $60 for the 2 games?
No. You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. For example, if your total according to the Estimator is $70, you will get a $70 giftcard.

:bomb: If I locked in a trade online, and the value drops, will I still get the locked in value when I mail it in?
Yes. You will get the locked in TIV as long as you ship it before the "Ship by" date "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value" (as of 5/2), and your games are received in the condition you declared.

How long do I have after I lock in a trade online before I have to ship it?
30 days. Has been recently changed to "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value".

Can you lock in the price online then trade it in-store?
No.

Is there a limit to how many games I can trade in?
According to BB: "We will not accept more than 3 games of the same title and platform from a customer (or address) in a year. Please do not submit more than the limit as excess submissions WILL NOT BE RETURNED." Example, you can trade 3 copies of Portal 2 for PS3 and 3 copies of Portal 2 for x360 without problems. Some people have been banned from trade-ins at BB due to the violation of this policy. If you plan on trading more than 3 copies of a game per platform by doing it through various stores, you do so at your own risk and discretion.

:bomb: Can I trade game disc only, or do I need the case and manuals, too?
BB used to be strict about complete copies, but this has changed, and ppl are trading games in store without manuals or cover sleeve for full TIV. If you trade online it's sometimes YMMV. I would advise you to send in complete games (case, disc, manual) since some ppl are reporting only getting 50% of the locked TIV.

I see people talking about getting Amazon giftcards by trading at Best Buy. How are they doing that?
Some Best Buys sell Kindle giftcards which can be used on Amazon.com like regular Amazon giftcards. You will not get the Kindle card with your trade, but you can buy them with your BB giftcard.

When I do a in-store trade, I am asked: to be fingerprinted, to have my photo taken, how much I weigh, etc. What's the deal?
Pawn shop laws regulating trade-ins and resale of used goods varies from state to state or city to city. It is not Best Buy's rule, and varies from store to store depending on where you live.

I went to a store to do a trade-in and they asked for a Best Buy receipt. WTF?
According to BB's own FAQ:
Q: Is trade-in limited to items I bought at Best Buy?
A: No.
I don't know why this happens, but apparently some stores do not have their system setup to take non-BB purchased items at this time. Check the link above regarding stores that do video games trade-ins first.

Quick question...can you cancel preorders and retain the 50% trade-in? Would like to take advantage of the extra 10% but not buy GOW3.

People say you can. But I wasn't allowed to do it last time. I came back a week or so later and they said something about how the system won't let them because I pre-ordered during a trade-in. And then the employee said something about double dipping. YMMV I guess.
 
yes cancelling preorders is not associated back to the trade, infact they typically do it as two transactions. What is disturbing is the fact that cancelling preorders may be a problem because they can limit returns !!

First off, BB didnt question u. The cops did. Did it make a whole seen in store?
BB contacted the cops because of the Game trade in law (like a pawn shop)
If u flipping more then 3 of the same game, they have the right to question u, but should have been done in the LP office and not on the floor. Now if BB only question u, then u have the right to sue/contact corp. Corp will either offer u a gift card for the humiliation and BB accusing u for theft. Was there any charges by police (citied on paper) or did BB ban u? Sorry, dont know the whole story.

Haha my friend went and immediately canceled his pre order as soon as he did the trade. I didn't have the balls to do that lol. So YMMV

Limiting returns (with receipt) is totally new to me. I know you only get 2 returns per year if you have no receipt, so maybe someone is getting confused. And to process a return without receipt they log your ID, and personal info, probably keeping all kinds of information on their servers.

I got out of a preorder today cause the customer service lady didn't know how to do it. Yay for easy 50% (already preordered Gears 3 any way)

While we're on the topic of returns, I thought they were keeping track of returns at the store level. That's how it seemed on my receipts. However I don't return much, and they only see me customer service for my awesome pick orders.

Got the 50% Gears bump today! Traded in (PS3) Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, Infamous 2 and (3DS) Sims 3 for $115 total. Very happy.

That's what i plan on doing. The guy helping me even asked if i was going to actually pick up the game or just pre-ordering for the bonus. I told him it was just for the bonus and asked him if it was okay. He said it was cool and was planing on doing the same thing haha.
 
yeah i already preordered before i knew about this...just gonna cancel and redo w/ the bump and sign up for the Unlocked...i reallly wish with GZU you could gradually pay on your preorders ala GS....one day i hope. I think ill hit up BBV tomorrow and see if i can get some extra to bring down cost... Now i just need a price drop for Dead Island so i can get some moola back... Hey did any one get a 10 GC with a DXHR preorder?
 
where are the amazon kindle cards located in bestbuy I have never seen one when I looked at the gift card selection yesterday.

They're in the e-reader accessory aisle for me. Near all the computer stuff.

Also, they're near the registers next to all the other gift cards (iTunes, Facebook, Napster)
 
I'm curious to see if best buy stacks their unlocked extra 10% with their preorder promos. Common sense says yes but who knows with retailers these days.
 
That's ridiculous about the police, all the games I've flipped and traded I've had receipts for with the exception of those I picked up from Craigslist people or those I've gotten for free(Microsoft promos/Playstation House Party).

I can't wait to get accused of trading games in.

EDIT: Is the GC 10% beneft a certificate or is it something you get for just being part of the RZ Gamers Club? Apparently I'm apart of it lol, I never buy anything from BB, just flip games and get Amazon kindle cards. I tried looking a few pages back and didn't see an answer.
 
The 10% stacks on top of the GeOW3 promo, bringing it up to 60%.

A little note for people in New England though. Apparently due to NY being in a state of emergency b/c of flooding, my store didn't have anything related to the Unlocked program in, so they can't sign you up for it until next week/week after.

I was still able to get the 10% bonus b/c apparently you can sign up for the program through the Trade-In system, but it didn't charge me the $15 for a subscription.

There's no proof I'm actually signed up (dunno if I'm in the system), but at the very least you can get the 10% bonus if you tell the employees that workaround. Otherwise you'd be wasting a trip there. It ~seems~ like a radio button/checkbox just like all the other promos they run.

I AM NOT ADVOCATING GETTING INTO THE PROGRAM FOR FREE. I told the person working at the time I'd talk to the gaming supervisor later when he's in and actually sign up.
 
Flippers: Gamestop is selling the move games for $10, and Move Heroes is $15TIV at Best Buy. Add with other games or the gears deal, and it's a decent flip.

It's $14.99 per year and includes a 1 year subscription to their @gamer magazine. Basically it is the exact same as GS.

And it's not a certificate it just gets added to TiV. Today is the first day to sign up. Just walk in and tell them you wan to sign up for the new unlocked status in the gaming department.

You get 10% off used titles, 10% extra TiV, the sub and other coupons/events.

Damnit I bought the magazine in store last month, the one with the Resistance Double pack coupon in it and I haven't received any certificate this month for an extra 10%, I guess I didn't get signed up.

Can we still get a hold of it in store or is it in the magazine?

It's not a certificate. If you signed up for the @gamer previously they will send you a voucher for the 1st year of unlucked free. It is packaged outside of the magazine.

If you signed up last month the voucher may not come until next months issue. You may talk with CS to try to get this put on now though.

Did you subscribe to the magazine or did you just buy it? I think for the next month magazine have the coupon for free subscription for a year. Not sure though. How long have you been on the gamer's club? I got my coupon in my email.
 
You either need the subscription to the mag. Or pay $15 in store. One of these two. If not you don't qualify for the extra 10% no exceptions. Stop asking the same questions. -___-

If it was answered the first time I had asked I wouldn't have asked again nor would anyone else have asked, it's not in the OP and the answer wasn't in the last few pages because I went back there.

I was under the impression I was subscribed when I bought the magazine but obviously that's not the case, pretty sure I've been in this gamer club thing since I've had my best buy card.

Normally after you buy the sub it takes 1 month for you to get the first issue. So if you got it last month it should skip this month and you receive the first one in the mail next month. Some have reported signing up last month and getting it this month, but I don't think that is the norm.

The coupon is good until October 12th, so it seems BBY thought it out some.

He was probably being a dick since it has been answered 10 times in the last 5 pages, which annoys a lot of people. As it probably took you longer tittle out that post then it would have to find it on your own.

Went in to redeem my new "Unlocked" gamer program today. Chick looked at it like she had no clue, but processed it and it showed it was instantly activated, but will get something in the mail/email on it. Decided to put it to the test and took a few trade-ins over to the "zone." Asked the guy if I could use my previous GOW3 reserve to get the 50% off and he said yes. He wasn't sure if the 10% extra would tack on, but a little ways into the process he verified it would. Here's what I got.

(all PS3)
N4S hot Pursuit- 18= 28.80
Killzone 2- 7=11.20
NBA 2k11- 12= 19.20
Medal of Honor- 8= 12.80
Base of 45 + 27 (60% ADDED)= 72

Pretty great deal, since I played those games a lot and paid quite a bit less than 72 total for them (2k11= 16, Killzone 2= 8, MOH= 10, N4S= 16- total 50) Also got 10 bucks back on the Nav controller I bought from them a week or so ago for $25. Gamestop is selling them for 15. Overall a very productive trip to Best Buy.
