Big Lots Anime DVDs $3.00 New Shipment YMMV?

fairyland

CAGiversary!
As always good old Big Lots has anime but this time at a new low of $3.00 each. Pretty good Bandai titles. I personally bought 10 discs and I think I left about 20 behind, so I think they normally get about 30 in each time, which makes this a YMMV as they usually sell out when the first otaku arrives.

I got:

Gundam Seed 1, 2
Z Gundam 2 Disc CDs 1, 2
Overman King Gainer 1, 2
Hoop Days 1
Panda Z 1,3
Cowboy Bebop Best Sessions.

Not my usual choices (I go for comedy and harems), but I was feeling good and wanted to experiment and $3.00 is so cheap.

Others that I remember:

Stratos 4 OVA
Angels Tales 1, 3 (super recommended, but I already have)
Galaxy Angel 1 (also super recommended and I have)
Wolf's Rain 3 (Most would recommend it, but I hated what I seen of it)

There was several Cowboy Bepop Best Sessions, but almost everything else was that 1 disc only, so the first Otaku that spots this would probably clean out their stock. I honestly cannot remember the other titles, but they was not disc one and I won't try anything mid series anymore. More Mecha/space stuff if I remember, SD Gundam, etc.

----UPDATE 7-11-07

A new batch of titles. I think I wrote them all down, but there could be a couple I missed. All the prior anime DVDs was gone, so I suspect any DVDs mentioned before this date probably won't be in your local store. As always YMMY and usually only 1 per store.

Cowboy Bepop Best sessions (this one had a different cover, but looked like the same contents)
G Gundam 6
Fantastic Children 1
Z Gundam 3 4
Winx (2 diff)
Planetez 3 (special edition)
Angel Tales 2
Galaxy Angel Z 1 3
Stratos 4 1
SD Gundam
Strive 3? (I could not make out what I said...)
Dragonball Z (several)
Panda z 4 5
TMNT new series (several)
IGPX 1, 2 orange, 1 Blue, 3 Green (color of number on side of DVD)
Marsday break 5
DICE (2 kinds)
My Dad Is a Rockstar 1
Case Closed (two different ones)
Yukekazi 1, 2
Yugioh 3.1, 3.5, 4.1
Gundam Seed 5, farway dawn, something sky
Overman King Gainer 3 4 5
Code Lyoko (forgot title)
Zentrix 1 and 2

I personally bought Z gundam 3 and 4. Even though I'm not liking it, my friend does need 3 and 4. The two Winx and two Case Closed. Overman King Gainer 3, 4, 5. Mars Daybreak 5, TMNT with Shredders daughter in it *hubba*, Fantastic Children, and Planetez.

Finally made it to my local Big Lots (Federal Way, Wa.)- found but didn't buy:

IGPX- a couple volumes, didn't check which
DICE- same thing
Escalfowne vol 4 (I think)
Saber Marionette J to X vol. 3
Sc-ry-ed vol 3 (Anime Legends 2-disc version)
Mars Daybreak vol 1
Hoop Days vol 1 (many copies left)

Bought Mars Daybreak 1 and 4- if you find the others, I'd sure like 'em!
Thanks, Guile.

The only dvd I picked up at my local Big Lots was Hoop Days (vol 1). Pretty standard faire, but not terrible if your BL has a poor selection and nothing else looks good.

And a question about IGPX, does anyone know if any of the dvd releases had an OST cd packed in? I'm guessing not, but thought it worth asking.
I don't think they do. I got IGPX 1, 2, 4, and 5 today and they had no OST.
if any can find these for me it would be great:

S-Cry-Ed Vol 1 & 2 (2-disc Anime Legends Edition)
S-Cry-Ed Vol 1, 3, 4, 6 (Platinum Edition)
Saber Marionette J: DVD Collection 3
Saber Marionette J to X Programs 1 - 2, 4 - 6
Mars Daybreak, Vol. 1
Hoop Days: Zone 1
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: Chapter 2, 4, 5
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: The Empty Battlefield (Movie 1)
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Vols 1, 3, 5 - 8
Mobile Suit Gundam F91: The Motion Picture
Escaflowne: The Movie
Yukikaze Vol 1: Danger Zone (Limited Edition 2-Disc Set)
Outlaw Star Collection 1 & 3
.hack//Legend of the Twilight - Enter the Nightmare! (Vol. 2)
Dan Doh!! The Super Shot, Vol. 2 ans 3
any 1?
any 1?
They didn't have any of that stuff at my Big Lots the other day. Mine had some IGPX, Planetes, Scrapped Princess, Witch Hunter Robin and Zentrix.

man I'm jealous. My big lots hasn't had a new shipment in like a year. Although i am not really sure what i would buy if they did.
Just went to the Big Lots near me today. Picked up Steamboy: Director's Cut for $3.
Was there yesterday and also picked this up. No other anime to be found.

No Anime at my Big lots, but now that I think about it...I saw Big O the movie? at a Dollar General about 2-3 years ago, but I thought it was a bootleg since it was in one of those thinpacks like the $1 DVDs. They also had gundam, but again in a thin pack. They were both $3.

Finally made it to my semi-local Big Lots, saw some random IGPX, Escaflowne (vol with eps 21-23), Planetes v3, Fantastic Children v5-6 and maybe some others, some SD Gundamn looking thing.

Didn't pick up anything... I probably won't be going back anytime soon, so don't ask me for them, though.

Finally found some anime!
Too bad it was one title, Mars Day Break vol.3 There was about two left...I didn't know ,or I would have picked it up. Anyways....Hopefully I find the other volumes.

It comes and goes and has been really sporadic lately. I don't even bother to report it anymore as one store could have some, the other two won't and so on. I know they had at least one shipment in during the past month where I picked up Dan Doh V1 which I had missed last year, but they was all the same titles as before. I'm really hoping future shipments will have newer titles. I do recommend Mummy Nanny if you happen to see it. It's a French cartoon, but it's as funny as a comedy anime, but without all the ecchi-ness.

Mine had:

Mars Daybreak Vol 2, 3, 5
Banner of the Stars II Vol 1
Yukikaze Vol 2
Planetes 1, 5, 6
Case Closed (various)
Fantastic Children 2, 3, 5
Infinite Ryvius 2, 5
IGPX (various)
Lots of Dragon Ball stuff
Escaflowne (various)

I think that was about it.. I was looking for Witch Hunter Robin and Wolf's Rain but no dice. No steamboy either.

My local BL just got some Funimation titles in. Keep your eyes open.

I saw:
Samurai 7
Galaxy Railways
Solty Rei
Baki the Grappler

There were 2 volumes of each except for Solty Rei.

I have wolf's rain volume 5 and volume 7 if you're interested.

I would be interested in the following:

(whatever volumes available for the following series)

Mars Daybreak
Planetes
Fantastic Children
Infinite Ryvius

Wow. Would have been nice to get Solty Rei for cheap instead of scraping for points at Points2Shop - I got v4 5 6 from them, took ages... and I do mean ages. Big Lots is way out of the way for me (and on a not so nice street), or I'd be there more often, I guess.
which vol of Solty Rei? I'm missing the last volume.
Volume 1

There was very little to choose from. Here's a list of the other volumes I saw. Not sure on some.

Samurai 7 vol. 1, and either 3 or 5
Galaxy Railways vol. 3, and either 1 or 5
Baki the Grappler vol. 9, 12

I'll be going back soon; I'll confirm the exact volumes.

Our Big Lots gets the PC games and a lot of DVD's but no anime DVD's...mainly old films or films no one cares about.

Is your anime DVD's mixed with the regular DVD's?

That's the way it is at my local Big Lots. All the DVDs are mixed together.

I find that since the anime will usually be part of one shipment, they'll be in the same area or rack. ie, they wont be mixed in with the workout dvds. However, someone may try to stash or mix it in with them, so I guess it doesnt hurt to look either. Bascially, what Im trying to say is, they're usually bunched together ;)

Not in mine. I have to go through all the DVD's till I eventually get bored.

Anyways, Found Hoop Days vol.1

My big lots are now getting funimation and VIZ DVDs. The girl that works there told me they had Inuyasha, but someone bought it. I picked up FullMetalPanic, Beck, Peach Girl, and Kodocha.

I went through my Big Lots DVD and no anime but "Steamboy". Man, I went through like 13 boxes of DVD's...hehe....

They had some Funimation DVDs at mine just now.

I bought...

Beck vol. 1
Negima (can't remember the volume)
Samurai 7 vol. 6
Solty Rei vol. 1
Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid vol. 2

I'll take a pic when I get off of work.

Yeah those are the same volumes I got the other day...I wish my big lots had Solty Rei, haven't seen Negima. I also picked up some Full Metal Alchemist Vols: 3,4,6 and Trinity Blood! :D

I just did the same like 20 minutes ago. Except I saw The Animatrix. I bought both of them.

Burst Angel 6
Suzuka 3
Trinity Blood 2 and 4
Fullmetal Alchemist: Conquerer of Shamballa (lenticular cover)
Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles 2 disc SE
Samurai 7 v7 LE
Solty Rei 5
Blue Gender: The Warrior
Galaxy Railway 1
glass fleet 2
beck 1 and 4
basilisk 2
Overman king gainer 2
dan-doh 1
fullmetal 10

and some assorted gundam shenanigans.

Also had some TMNT and DBZ stuff.

Do you by chance remember which TMNT? I had found the tv sets for S1.V2 and S1 of Fast Forward and am looking for the others.

Seems like my local Big Lots didnt recieve any this time around =( However, I did notice some dvds from the older Bandai shipment, but they were mismarked at $10 each.

I just checked my Big Lots today and saw two things I hadn't seen before, Tekkonkinkreet and One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates. Both were $3 each.

I visited my Big Lots a couple days ago. I didn't see much in the way of anime. I picked up:

Final Fantasy: Spirits Within SE
Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury
Memories (3 anime short movies)
Bullitt

I'm rather glad I was able to find the final fantasy movie. I had been wanting to pick that up for cheap.

Huh, I'll have to check mine again sometime. It's been quite a while since I saw anime there though.
Yeah, I've seen some new anime. The biggest pick up for me was Flag volumes 1-4. 3.00 a piece, not bad at all. I also saw lots of Bandai stuff
Wow Flag would be sweet. I guess I will check in the next few days.

I didn't see any Flag my way. The only other thing I saw was Tsubasa vol 2. Unfortunately, the second closest Big Lots to me closed last year, so I have a good distance to drive before I can see another one. I have tickets to WWE Smackdown Tuesday night though so if I can get into Roanoke early enough I might look.
