Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.

Couldn't find a new 120GB 360 hard drive w/ transfer kit for a good price even with 30% cashback. I got the official Microsoft 360 HDMI cable kit for the optical adapter for $21 after cashback which is still a ridiculous price, but I didn't want to hack my old cable.
I had that problem the banner not showing up.
I had to turn off privacy control in my firewall then it showed up.

So how long did the Live Search Cashback for Ebay last the first time? I wasn't around for it.
Have any idea how long the 30% will last? Because I'd rather save my 4 remaining cashbacks for some more expensive items that I can't get now.
When it first started, it was at 35% and lasted like a day and then dropped to 10%. It then kept fluctuating from 10-25%, and then it was at 8% for atleast a month before coming back to 30% for the past several days. This is the longest ive seen it stay at 30.

Man, this deal is incredible. So far I've picked up Fable II pre-order ($42.50), Guitar Hero II 360 ($17.50), MGS 4 ($20.30), Absolute Sandman v. 3 ($40.40), Gears of War 2 pre-order ($37.79), Resistance 2 pre-order ($45), Settlers of Catan ($26.60), Sandman Arabian Nights Statue ($31.50), and Fallout 3 ($34) (all prices are post-rebate and include shipping). So sweet!

This may have been addressed, but is the considered total include shipping, or is just the initial purchase amount?

Only for the initial purchase amount.

If you were to purchase two items from the same seller during the same transaction, would that be considered one or two cash back offers?

I'm not sure, though I think one of the terms and conditions suggested that it would count as one.

has anyone had any problems yet?
I was a major asswipe and bought 4 items in a row, so the cashback applied only to the first one.
I contacted ebay, they told me to contact microsoft.
Microsoft told me to talk to ebay.
Ebay told me to talk to their marketing department.
The marketing dept. told me to fuck off.
Anyone got any tips?

Man, good luck with this but I'm guessing you're screwed ...

yeap, you're screwed... your greed has blinded you, sorry.

People, always check check check the % back banner/logo before hitting the final PAID button!

I'm surprised that this thing is active! I ran out of cash and transactions.

I've already used up my 6 transactions on one of my ebay accounts and I understand that I can probably do another 6 with a different ebay account with the same paypal account. My question is, do I need a whole new live cashback account for my unused ebay account? Can I use the same live account that I've already received my 6 ebay cashbacks on?

Damn.. I am also seeing it at 20% on the link from the original poster!

Ok..I typed in Nintendo Wii and still see it at 30% off....but looks like it might be going away soon.

thanks for the deal

got a question... if i want to buy a second item, do i simply close the browser and start over the process? i'm a afraid the second purchase wont have the 30% applied.

for those of you not getting the 30%, trying searching for q6600. (showed up for me)

nope only getting 20 now. used 5 out of 6 was holding off hoping that something really great popped up this week. Guess I missed out.
I'm only getting 20% or below now on everything I search with...
Yeah, same here. I guess it's dying. So if it's like last time it'll just keep going down from here?

I bought guitar hero world tour band kit using this method on Saturday but its not showing up yet. Is this normal or should I start getting worried?

Woo, barely made it. Clicked the link and 45 minutes after I checked live search again it dropped to 20%; so I quickly nabbed a 360 arcade and got away with 30%. Win.

I got in right before it dropped to 20%.

Bought a used Wii for $225 shipped ($200 + $25) - $60 cash back = $165 Wii.

Yay. I want games now though. :)
o well knew i should of grabbed a few games last night

worth it at 30% off.

NOT WORTH it at 20% off
Why not? I mean 20% is not as good as 30%, but it's still a considerable discount if you're buying a newer/more expensive game.

its about a 3 buck more per game.

game i was looking at was going to be 19.60 shipped

its now 22.40

I might of tried the game for 20 but 22 is just too much to risk if i dont care for the game.

and its been getting bad reviews

VK 2 for Psp

Finally snapped up a sealed copy of Haze for $19.75 shipped w/ this at 20% off. (Lost $2 since I skipped ordering it last night.)

(I love Free Radical games; deal w/ it!) :D

god damnit i just found out about this last night and it goes down. i suck.

i was gonna buy an ipod touch for $319
thats $30 down the drain now shit.

any way to combine the 20% with any other offers?

****, I was just about to buy an xbox. I had the deal all set up and stuff yesterday but he didn't list it on ebay yet. Looks like I'm out $8.

I got some football cards out of it, but couldn't think of anything else. It's pretty sad how some jack up their BIN, so it wasn't even worth it for me to get a laptop off eBay anyway, it wouldn't have been a deal with the shipping and overpricing. Kinda sucks. :\

Can you search for one thing and then move on to something else and still get the cashback?

E.g. I want a saturn-style usb controller. If I put that in, nothing comes up. But if I put in "Wii" I get the cashback thing. Can I search for wii, click on the ebay cashback link and then search for what I want and get the discount?
