BIOSHOCK - Gen. Discussion & Info

I must be playing the game wrong or wasting my ammo. Other message boards seem to indicate later on that you'll have so much ammo you won't know what to do with it.

Finally got the game just now-- 360 is on a TV that is being used by others unfortunately. I want to blast it on the 5.1s, so I'm going to wait just a little longer to play. My Big Daddy is ship-shape, no problems from what I can see.

to everyone who says this game is easy, just know that as the game progresses, it does get harder, and the checkpoints/respawn locations get farther and farther apart

Picked up my LE today and the manager tells me how he got a broken one. I immediately go "I'll take that one!" So looks like I'll be getting an artbook.

Game is really fun. Any good strategies for the Big Daddies? The first one I fought worked me over good before I took him down.

Do you get achievement in the PC version and if you do is it just for Vista users or can XP users get them also.

I don't believe that its a Live anywhere title so...no PC achievments.
Wow.

The Limited Edition 360/PC version of Bioshock are fetching $100-130+ on Ebay.

Nutty.
that is crazy

i guess they are trying to get the artbook as well...

i'm just having fun w/the regular game

haha

Hey, I just noticed the "Unlock Framerate" option in the start menu. Now the game is running at 60 fps

edit: go to start>options and its at the bottom. Seems to just turn off V-sync....and it also adds an extra inch to the screen! (no)

Damn, I didn't realize BB closed at nine. They always used to stay open 'till 10 (hell, I bought my original Xbox past nine).

Looks like I'll get this tomorrow morning at the earliest.
Just picked mine up with my Big Daddy figure......won't get to play till later tonight though :wall:
still haven't got mine yet. gettin worried. UPS has delivered to me around 7PM though, so I guess I'll give myself hope for another 45 minutes or so.

Got the game from My Gf today from CC. The game is awesome I asked her to get me the regular edition which is in a nice box which I was surprised. Told her to save the extra 25.00 for the limted being cc is on sale. Anyhow I was wondering if anyone can post a pic of thier bigdaddy.

This game is fun. I have no idea where to go sometimes, but I like finding my way through this mess. I am starting to learn the levels, which is good, since I usually get lost in 3D games. I am not as creeped out as I thought I would be. Fun game, can't wait to play more.

Finally someone else finds the unlock framerate/believes what I have been saying for the past week. The historian achievement is hard as hell. I looked every where and apparantly didnt get it. Im going through the game on hard to see if i can find it

yeah, unlock framerate is great if you don't mind tearing (which I don't.)

Don't worry Ryles, UPS was hella late with mine today-- I normally get next-day stuff early afternoon, I didn't get it delivered till close to 6pm. Hopefully you get it soon :)

fuck me. I can't resist the hype. I'm about to go out and pre-order Prime 3 and pick this up. I'm not gonna open it though. Shit is still too creepy for me, but we'll see.

I'd like to see other fellow scaredy-cats speak up and tell about their experiences though. Just wondering how this game stacks up.

waitaminute...you were complaining about the FOV and you haven't even played it? lame.

anyway, only one part made me jump, but overall, it's really creepy. still, it's a videogame. it's not going to jump out and eat you

I spent the first ten minutes refusing moving an inch at a time and then running back into the light before summoning up the courage to plow into the building. I was pretty convinced I'd never be able to play through, but my nerves have hardened in the last couple of hours. This shit is intense. Right now it just seems a lot like Half Life, though--I'm not seeing a great deal of originality quite yet.

I said multiple times I never played the full version. But I also said it wouldn't stop me from buying the game....but it does suck. C'mon now. :)

Silent Hill raped my mother and killed my father. Don't you dare tell me what a videogame can and can't do.

does anyone know how into the game i am where you
have to get the recipe for that thing to replace the oxygen

I rented this and I just got stuck.
Ahhh.

Hah, That's where I'm stuck, I think. I need to find the last thing from inside the beehive or something. But I can't, and there are no more splicers...

If you finish that part, you're about halfway through.

Read the hints, it tells you pretty explicitly where to go.

Wow, I've officially played this game for more than 12 hours straight. The last time I did that with a game it was with Oblivion. Time for a break.

Wait, I think I'm not at that part yet.
I just finished making some potion or something and had to put it in some machine.
If I am at half way, DAMN.
I rented this this morning.
I don't think I am though...I've only been playing about 9 hours.
Oh wait.
DAMN. That's alot. Haha.

Also,
I've been trying to rescue all the little sisters, but there were a few times where I hypnotised the Big Daddies and the little sisters went away. After awhile I'd kill the big daddies and I couldn't find the little sisters. The problem is, it says I saved/harvested all 3. But I only rescued 2 and the other one I never touched :)lol:)...Are there different icons for harvesting and rescuing? Like when you push the start menu, those icons.

I'm tempted to call in sick tomorrow and play for ten or twelve hours. I miss binge-gaming.

I'm loving this game. I'm glad I didn't play the demo and essentially kept myself in the dark about the entire game.

Count me in as another person who gets creeped out playing it though.

man, after seeing how short this game appears to be, i kinda wish that i would have just rented this.

If it had some sort of multiplayer, or a mode where you could play back any part of the game, with anything you wanted (such as any weapons, or infinite eve/ammo/health)i might not feel this way
How many people here are harvesting?
im goin through on medium and making sure i find everyone and rescue it. Then, ill play through once more on hard and harvest them

I am a big pussy and can play this game alone. It is creepy and a bit nerve racking, but I keep playing. Don't be such a vagine, it is awesome. Silent unnerves me and the rest of the horror genre usually doesn't interest me. Seriously, this game is the shit!

I need help. I am early in the game and need
to find the telekenisis power. I already have the fire and I need a damn shotgun.

Thank you.
How many people here are harvesting?
Every single one of 'em.
I'll save them when I play through on hard.

Melt your way into the dental office.

Thank you.
i found that really confusing as well until i went into the map and pressed hint. That was the only point in the game where i wasn't impressed, becuase i didn't know what i was supposed to do.

also, does anyone here find that most of the plasmids are farely useless except for ice, electrecute, and fire

I'm about 4 hours in and just beat the second level. So far I'd say it's easily the best game I've played since Twilight Princess. The reason I'm not that far is I feel like I spent a quarter of the time playing just looking at the in-game posters and decorations. This is how videogame environments should be.

My only (very slight) criticism is that you need to go to those machines to rearrange your plasmids. I feel like that's something you should be able to switch around from the menu, but that's just me. I'm sure it will get less frustrating once I get more plasmid slots, but it was annoying in the second level where you get new abilities, but there's no places to switch out your plasmids, so I was without my nifty firepower for the rest of the level and had to go back upon starting level 3 to seek out the hidden goodies I missed.

Otherwise it's an amazing, amazing game. Can't wait to play it some more.

whew, at the beginning of Neptune's
3 big daddy fights in a row! that was awesome.

anyone know where big daddy's best weak spot is? Seems like hitting him in the head does good damage, but so does hitting that canister on his back.

for those of you who finished the game, I've got a yes or no question-- do you get to see an unmasked big daddy? :)
