OTHER INFO

I consider deals confirmed when I receive the MAP on every other Thursday. The Map outlines promos and how the store is to be layed out and includes the barcodes for the deals. Also we get the new trade flyers that day as well with new trade values and deals.

Deals usually end on close of business on Monday and begin on open Tuesday (some special ones do start on Thursday usually around labor day, memorial day, etc.)

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

OTHER GAMERUSH THREADS

Don't seem to be working anymore...I will put them back up on request(pm) or if they become live again.
This is true. Also some of the older older games if you pay to rent them you may be able to keep them free (if the prp price in the computer is $6.99 or less depending on your stores rental price).
How do I check this? So, you are saying that I can take my 2 free rentals per month that come with my bb.com membership, rent 2 games and keep them?
How do I check this? So, you are saying that I can take my 2 free rentals per month that come with my bb.com membership, rent 2 games and keep them?
No, that is if you paid for the rental.
I don't know if this has been answered... but... Will PSX and GBA games work for the 3 for 1 deal?

And would it matter if all 3 games were the same title? TIA
If you read the fine print it says only: Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, GBA, NDS and PSP are valid for the deal. Also most stores will limit you to 2 titles of the same game per day.
Just so you guys know, SP systems are not $15, the coupon is misprinted. Only regular GBA's are $15
on my flier, it only states that the preowned gameboy advance system (non-sp) is $15... what coupon are you talking about?

does gamerush have next gen games/systems for preorder yet? they update their systems on tuesday, so hopefully they did, because i need to trade some games

In the flier, it says $15 for GBA (regular), but on the coupon they scan, it says GBASP for $15. This is a misprint, I've been hearing a lot of buzz about it with employees. But alas, it doesn't work, its just a misprint.

called a few gamerushes about preordering next generation systems.

one guy told me i can preorder any game i want. obviously, this guy didnt know what he was talking about. take it as a grain of salt

next guy just typed xbox 2 in the computer, nothing came up.

last guy told me that they are doing a "wish list" so you can put down your name, and a deposit for a game, and once they get a part # for it, they will input it onto your account. i asked him if i can do the trade 2 get a game for 30 deal, and he told me that i should just bring in the games and he will see what he can do.

im assuming this is just the individual store, or a lot of blockbusters havent gotten this info yet. cory, have you heard of this before?

also, does blockbuster sometimes update their system on wednesday?

Trade 3 games get any preowned for $5. May 17 - September 5

Beginning May 17 - September 5, trade 3 games get any preowned for $5. PSP, NDS, GBA, Xbox, Gcube, and PS2 only. No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals).

May be restricted to titles $44.99 and lower though YMMV (i will be enforcing this though) Same restrictions as above

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

for this deal, does it work at normal BB's? sorry i'm a noob for BB deals and have never traded in any games to them...and is there an exclusion list besides "No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals)."

like..for example, could i trade in maximo (ps2) or something? and do the 3 games i trade in have to be the same platform as the game i will get for 5 bucks?

thanks for any help :)

Hi Swetooth9, The games u trade in do not have to be on the same platform as the one you are trading for. Yes it does work at normal BB's. At least it does around my area!

from what I can tell, other games that aren't specify that my Gamerush won't let me trade in are Everquest Online Adventure, any game that has the word "not for resale" on the cover or on the disk, and games that are combos like Star Wars Cone Wars/Tetris world. Aside from that, I think you are okay.

Any games that are close?

I have been buying used games specifically to trade in, and would like to lose as little money in the trade-in as possible.

Not sure if the values are still the same today, but as of yesterday, here were a few things for PS2 that were close (for new copies) or where you come out ahead (for used with discount cards):

Echo Night Beyond ($20 new, $18 used at GS, $22 new at EB... possibly much less used at EB) - trades for $25 (everyone should know about this one by now)

Inu Yasha - ($20 new, $18 used at GS, similar pricing at EB?) - trades for $18

Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex - ($20 new, $18 used at both GS & EB) - trades for $20

But to trade in those three, you still have to have $60 cash available to do so. Anyway there are several games available for $5 that can be traded in for up to $11, just read back a few pages; this was discussed on Sunday, now its Tuesday and someone is asking again (!)

I had traded in some pre 2004 games for the last deal. NCAA Football 2003, Tiger Woods 2003, Knockout Kings 2002, NHL Hitz 2003.. all but NCAA got me the extra $5, and all worked for the trade 2 get 1 for $30. I think he meant 2003 (as he posted in another thread)

I'm sure it's a YMMV with the employee you get then. Fortunately I don't have any old sports games so I won't worry about it. I was wondering, though, when they would start excluding (at least in the fine print if not in practice) the 2004 games. 2006 games are coming soon, so we might see 2004's excluded before the deals end this Sept. I recently bought some new games from EB and added a Madden 2004 for PS2 as free shipping filler, knowing I could use it GR if necessary.
you are all lucky, the deal was stopped where i live, they stopped all trade 3 get po for 5
Thats so weird they stopped both deals. Must have been something major to stop it (still going on in okc).

Are the regular stores still doing the trade 3 deal? Usually they have a different district manager (DL), even if they are next to each other. THat why you could tell if the DL told them to stop doing it or what.

What area is this in?
corycubed if you are online please answer who i call about them canceling the deal
You could call the DL but honestly most of them never answer. If not I'd talk to some other stores (traditional as well) and speak to their managers and see what they say.
i live in upstate of sc
It sounds like you single-handedly made them stop the deal....what, you got banned from a few GameRushes and flipped a bunch, right? Maybe they did not want any more of the poop. BANG.

I'm sure they can do what they want....individual stores usually have a say over what they want to do. I thought not ALL BB's have that no late fee thing either.

Did they still have the signage up on the game rental wall for the deals? Those are supposed to be MAP compliant. I don't know what they could put up to replace it either.

Speaking of MAP new one comes in Thursday so hopefully more deals.

I've been out of town for 2 weeks and was reading through the last few pages, but couldn't find the answer to this question- what is the 10 for 25 deal?

You can buy any 10 preowned games $4.99 or less for $25.

One of my GR's gets worse and worse. So todays line of BS, included only 1 of any game per trade, and they can not take a game missing the barcode. They suck!!

What I find completely unbelievable, is had i showed up with no cover they would have taken the game. How f'n stupid is that. That biotch of a manager needs to go.

I feel sorry for the front line guys, they are telling me this, just looking so embarassed.

This is the same store that limits me to 2 of a single title ever. That biotch sucks!!!!!

On the one missing a barcode was it a Not for Resale game? I know some managers are picky about that. Me I don't care, but on the double game ones I can only take it as one title otherwise its a major inventory hassle.

That is a great attitude to have. You could always choose to take your business elsewhere. Try regular Blockbusters, the ones I have been to all have the trade 3 get 1 deal going on. (Although a girl at one tonight insisted it was trade 1 get 1. I did however point out the 30+ signs in the store that said otherwise. On top of that, the manager tried to give me an extra $5 per game traded in as well.. I had to set her straight too)

At least you can say "one of my GR's", there is only 1 in Oregon and it's 30 miles away.

What's everyones luck for the newer used games at GR vs BB? There is only one Blockbuster I know of in the area that isn't a GameRush but I don't know how the selection is. I really want to use the 3 for $5 to pick up God of War but neither GR stores have had it when I've checked. The people at the BB can't seem to read the difference between used and new and just tell me they have it to buy but won't specify over the phone. It's kind of out of my way but if people are having better luck at BBs I'll try and make a trip.
anyone know what those hitman contracts for xbox are going for? how about madden 2004 ps2?
Hey, I can help on Madden 2004 for PS2 - just did it about 2 hours ago.

Are you ready?

Are you REALLY ready to hear this?

Wait for it.......................................

$1.50

Also traded Batman Sin Tzu and that got $5.

I confirmed that the following are NOT in the preorder system as of Tues: Burnout Legends (PSP), Star Wars Battlefront 2 (PSP), Mario Baseball, Mario Strikers, and Okami (PS2). I preordered Star Wars Battlefront 2 for PS2 as I'm worried about the whole deal being cancelled soon. I never even played the first one but I figured if I didn't want it I can shift it to one of the Mario games later.

I also snagged their one and only copy of Star Wars Ep III for the DS for a whopping $39.99 (using trade credit of course). I guess I could have scrounged up 2 more games and got it for $30 but I wasn't sure if it would last too long. Last time I was there they told me they couldn't sell me the 1 copy they had - so I snagged it while I could. Felt wierd paying so much though :D - I haven't paid over $30 there for anything since the EyeToy I picked up in Feb. I also bought a few other new games so I burned quite a bit of my credit.

OK, here's the wierd thing. I tried to ask about double-dipping on the trade 3 for a $5 PO and trade 2 for $29.99 new/preoders. The girl who helped me couldn't get that far though as she started to tell me about the new restrictions put in place by the new manager. Apparently the $5 bonus/2 for $29.99 double-dip got them in trouble (again, not sure who with). I was SOOOO tempted to tell her that this was quite common at GR all over the country but I didn't want to get into a discussion about it and reveal CAG (also didn't want to act like I was too knowledgeable about the deals - just nodded as she talked).

Anyway, the new restriction is that on the trade 3 for a $5 PO, the games you trade in have to add up to $30 in trade credit. I think the new manager (who I think is the one she asked about it - I figured it was a new DM that did this but I think now it is really just the guy they brought from a regular BB) doesn't fully understand the deal. First of all, right at the register they have the new flyers with the trade 3 for a $5 PO deal on it - with just the regular 2004 sports, etc, exclusions and, of course, nothing about the games having to add up to $30. The reason I think he is misunderstanding the deal is that I think he figures you trade the games in and just get the PO for $5, but don't get the trade credit. He said they WEREN'T (thankfully) requiring high-value trades on the 2 for $29.99 deal because in that case you just pay the difference in cash ("yeah, OK", I'm thinking...). So I don't know WHAT is going on with them. It seems like this new guy is second-guessing even the standard deals. In any case, I didn't even bother asking about double-dipping on it after all that and just traded my 2 games and preordered SW Battlefront 2. I'm certainly glad they didn't modify the trade 2 for preorder deal though - my heart sank when she started talking about new restrictions and I thought for sure it would involve that deal.

So, echoing hd2k (to the guy complaining about bar codes and the like), be happy you have the ability to say "one of my GR's". We have just the one and are at the mercy of their manager-of-the-month. Maybe another employee shuffle will send us a different one, but that one might be even worse. The one good thing about this new guy is I don't think he follows the trade stuff too closely (ie, his strange responses about the deals) so I doubt he'll be going through and looking for people to ban on a whim (not that I've done anything bannable). And, also as hs2k says, you can always try a local BB. The one near me seems to have the deal running (no signs but confirmed with the manager in person today) and seems to have normal exclusions.

Edit: The more I think about what they told me the stranger it seems. I certainly understand the concept behind what the manager was saying - they wanted $30 worth of games to give you the other one PO cheap. Makes sense - they wouldn't want 2 Project Eden's and a Red Faction for their $44.99 Starfox Assault (only one I saw at that price). However, this is not what is stated on the flyers right at the register. However, it SEEMS that they THINK the flier implies this. In fact, they told me to take a flyer when they were describing the restrictions. I guess he just figures he isn't going to give away expensive games for cheap trade-ins - but it is kind of funny if he thinks that is the way the deal is supposed to work, according to the flyer. In other words, they didn't approach it like these were ADDITIONAL restrictions just in that store - they thought it worked that way. Which now explains why the girl prefaced this whole thing by saying how they got in trouble before for not doing deals correctly (ie, double-dipping). They think they aren't ALLOWED to take just any 3 games. Oh well...

Most of the regular BB's I've been to have pretty pathetic used sections - one had about 20-30 total games. However, there is one right near me that has quite a few - probably about 1/4 the amount of games that GR has though. I looked through them today, though, and didn't see any $40+ used titles. This is a major metro area with only ONE GR, so if people trade in, it will most likely be at regular BB's. I just think that most people probably aren't even aware they take trade-ins. Probably about 3/4 of the stores I have checked out advertise the trade-in deals, though it seems most honor them. I think that unless GR is firmly established in an area, though, people just don't think of Blockbuster as a trade-in location. I know I didn't until I started reading CAG. Around here it is all EB, GS, and Gamecrazy (up the wazoo since this is Hollywood Video's base).

Yeah around here no one has Area 51 preowned! I think its suprising because Area 51 isn't an awesome game so it seems like someone would have traded one in by now.

OKAY - new question. It is not on the latest flyer, so does anyone know what Paper Mario for GC gets? Just found out from another CAG thread that it is $20 at EB, and you can get a $20 voucher if you buy it B&M. Since I am always nervous about rebates and the like, I would want to be fairly sure I could get back most, if not all, of the $20 at GR. This would be a quality title to supply to GR too - I don't think I've seen one there recently.

I got it when it first came out and played it through with my son right after Christmas. I have no intention of trading in my one copy as I'm sure he'll play it again some day. But I thought this might be a good way to diversify my trade-ins. If you haven't picked this game up for yourself, yet, you now have no excuse. I can't imagine that the $20 price is a permanent drop, either, as that just doesn't happen so quickly with best-selling 1st party Nintendo games.

Plus if my GR really wants to enforce that $30 trade in value for the trade 3 get a $5 PO, I might be able to put this together with the FFCC I got from EB for $9.99 and a cheaper game to hit their threshold.
