I don't see any mention of "The Fugitive" on Blu-Ray having the staff person accidentally visible in one scene despite the Special Edition DVD extra being included that goes on and on about the effort they went through the digitally remove the person from that scene. They probably only did it at DVD resolution and went back to film for the BD and didn't have enough incentive to do it again. :)

Pinocchio Platinum Edition needs to be added to the glitch list. There's a known problem of missing audio when Jiminy sings "Give a little whistle".

anyone else experience a glitch with the region a sunshine bd?

the pip feature is on by default and no menu will allow me to turn it off, at least on my ps3.

thanks for creating this list but hopefully it can be updated or if someone can post a link to a thread/forum where this discussion regularly occurs that would be great.

I'll check mine tomorrow. Were you playing it on a slim or original?

Is anyone having issues watching How to Train a Dragon on their Playstation 3? I get between scene 7 and 8 and it goes crazy; freeze, 3 second, freeze, 3 second, ... This is the first disc I have had issues with since owning my PS3 (it has been years... got a 6mths-1 year after launch).

The new Grindhouse Collector's Edition uses the compressed 448kbps 5.1 Dolby Digital track that was used on the Japanese DVD boxset. The previous releases of both movies on blu-ray used an uncompressed 640kbps 5.1 Dolby True HD track. Definitely a noticeable difference compared to my other blu-ray movies.
Awesome post. This should be stickied.
you do realize the whole thread is a stickied right?

Good for people to know, but it's not a "glitch" it's listed on the box and has been covered extensively in reviews.

I was wondering if saving private ryan has any known issues cause I just got it this morning and the scene with beach invasion has a lot of white spots showing up
Has anyone had this issue?

wow. a lot of messed up stuff. didn't know so many blus have errors.

What player and firmware version please?

Just ran into that Sunshine glitch on Sony blu-ray players. PiP won't turn off during the movie so it just pops up at times to explain how scenes were created.

I did some looking around and apparently it has something to do with their latest firmware update that enabled 3d playback. Really pisses me off too cause that's one of my favorite Blu Rays.
What player and firmware version please?
I tried on both my ps3 and my LG BD530 both have the latest firmware
I tried to look everywhere for an issue on the movies but nothing to that nature

I haven't tried Sunshine on my PS3, but you can get a replacement:
http://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=2245

Fox is issuing fixed copies of the disc to both affected consumers and retailers. To claim your replacement copy, call 1 (888) 223-4369 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1 (888) 223-4369 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. They'll ask for your name, address, and make and model of your BD player. Replacement discs will be mailed in 1 to 2 weeks!

Wow it was so bad they had to issue a replacement? From what I read before that last update the playstation 3 could play the movie fine I just thought the next update would fix it.

Well, it's incredibly lame that Sunshine broke in the first place, but it was one of, if not the, first to use the PiP thing on bluray. It's possible that something in their scripting didn't adhere to the final specs for the feature, but it didn't affect anything until the introduction of 3d features. I'll be calling to get my replacement.

I guess stuff like this is why HD-DVD finalized all the standards for their format before putting it on the market. ;)

Call took all of a minute, no proof no nothing just name address expect your replacement to ship in 1-2 weeks  I'm shocked this hasn't been scammed to hell by now

Does anyone know if the Sony firmware incident is limited to just Sunshine? Or are there are titles that have been adversely affected?
I was getting so pissed when watching Harold and Kumar as I thought the loud pops were going to ruin all my speakers... ugh.

I have what I think is a newer Black Pearl, how can I be sure?
Same problem here...
nice thread. Just got a PS3 and am price watching to build my BD library. Quick question, though, what is a "chroma issue"?
I guess I'll have to work with Fox with the replacement for FYEO, once they announce the replacement for it. Plus, talk with Warner for Blade Runner, if I run into that issue. I guess Enter The Dragon and The Descent will be issues I'll be stuck with.

I just noticed the Pinocchio Blu-Ray has an issue with it. There's a few lines of dialog missing, during the song 'Give a Little Whistle.'

This came out around January 2009, but I guess was only noticed last year. Amazon got re-issued new copies and SUPPOSEDLY a replacement program is coming soon. I'll try to find out more info.

Especially since it goes back in the vault on April 30th.

Edit: Got a response.

Dear Chris,

Thank you for your email regarding your Pinocchio Blu-ray disc. We are concerned about your inquiry and would like an opportunity to address this issue with greater detail.

We are aware of the missing audio issue during the "Give a Little Whistle" sequence. At this time, there is no alternate version of this disc that we could use for replacement purposes. We will retain your information and contact you if a resolution is developed.

If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 1-800-723-4763, Mondays 9:30-7:30 and Tuesday through Friday 9:30-6:30 CST or reply to this e-mail.

Thank you,

I recently had a problem with The Switch on a Sony BDP-S470, the movie was for lack of a better description kind of pausing, running slow. Also, say you were to fast forward or move through chapters, that menu on the bottom was popping up, it did play great on the ps3. =/
Anyone else have loading problems with Get Low on PS3 (60)?
It worked fine on BDP1600 with current FW.
Are you connected to the internet? Anytime I have a blu-ray related PS3 problem, I always disconnect from the internet, then watch the movie.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno wouldn't even load until I did this. Give it a shot.

I just watched on the Sammy; I'll try that in the future though.

I just noticed that on my sister's blu-ray player the movie "Never Let Me Go" keeps popping up the chapter positions on every chapter beginning. It's very annoying. I have yet to try this back home on my ps3.

Is your output at 1080 or 720? I found that when i go to my friends house to watch a movie, he doesn't get grain on his 1080p, but on my 720p i haveat home i get grains. It's prolly just the TV trying to compensate 1080p into 720 by blending in, also depends on the production on how well it was transfered

Is there any way to tell that you are getting the corrected version on the packaging? I ordered this from Best Buy and want to make sure I get the right version before I open it.

I say leave it. I just bought a copy from blockbuster and it had the error.

regarding Black Swan. I believe it's supposed to be grainy. except on 720p TV's its more obvious. In the theater the movie was the same style grainy. Aronofsky usually has that style in his movies. I know, not desirable for watching blu ray that's supposed to be hardcore pixel perfect but eh, still love the movie. I highly doubt its an error because the title and texts of the blu ray do not have that grainy look.

just did some googling of reviews of the blu ray and they all mention how it was shot in that grainy film way in the first place. guess us 720p owners see it much more though. it still looks great tbh. at least on my cheapo hdtv.
