My Blockbuster actually has a pretty decent selection of BRs. They have a "double" shelf (movie 2 deep. tiered) on the new release wall.
Also they have a standalone rack with BRs on both sides of a 6' ish size shelf, with older Br releases.

Tomorrow I will see how good they will be with getting new release BRs when I look for 21.

(BTW, I have the $21.99 rent all you want pass)

Yeah, I have Total Access Premium from Blockbuster Online. Thankfully I got grandfathered in so my monthly fee is only $19.99

My store actually has a good selection (two wall shelfs wide for new releases and a rack for catalog titles, both in the video game section) of Blus. I was just disappointed that they had stuff like Cloverfield and No Country For Old Men but no There Will Be Blood and The Orphanage (which was thankfully fixed this week)

That must be nice, when they raised their price, i got an email telling me my price was going to increase so that is when I canceled, and got netflixs. Now with flipping at BBV i figured I could use some more movies and give back to the employees. The BB is on the way home so it makes it very convenience and I can get a new movie almost every night (unless I don't watch the day before)

I loved the free games every month when I had that plan you have, but now I can rent movies or games w/ my current plan or just buy it if I have the credit.

They raised my price from $17.99 to $19.99

It's been movie heaven for me. I try to watch 2 movies a day (watched 179 since late November) and I'm never out of movies. Either I'm tapping into my collection, watching rarer/older movies that Blockbuster Online mails me or Blu-Ray's from instore.

I've thought about joining Netflix for NC-17/even rarer movies but I just can't break away from such an awesome deal.

Hey, looks like HBO is finally going to start cashing in on George Carlin's death. I've never been a fan of his later stuff but I'll give it a rent.

The late George Carlin will make his high-def debut with the November Blu-ray release of his concert film 'It's Bad For Ya.'

Marking the legendary comedian's final stand-up concert special, 'George Carlin: It's Bad for Ya' will hit Blu-ray on November 25 (day-and-date with the standard DVD), following it's premiere on HBO earlier this year.

There are no tech or supplemental specs as of yet, but more details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.95.

You'll find preliminary specs for ''George Carlin: It's Bad for Ya' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under November 25.

I don't know why my last post was deleted.

I wasn't bragging about pirating it (It's 47.8 GBs and I don't have a burner, so fuck that). I was just showing off all of the stuff AnyDVD removes (AACS, BD+, region codes, UOPs, BD+ firmware warning) which leaves me with a squeaky clean version that goes almost immediately to the menu.
Any word on these classics yet..

Gladiator
Scareface
Braveheart
Scarface was on the HD-DVD calender, so I assume it's in the works.

Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas is coming to Blu-ray on August 26!

Nightmare Before Christmas Gets Blu-ray Date

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring Tim Burton's claymation classic 'Nightmare Before Christmas' to Blu-ray on August 26th in a collector's edition form. No technical specs have been announced at this time, but you can expect the similar 1080p AVC and PCM treatment that Disney gives the majority of their titles.

Extras for this release include:

 • Audio commentary with Tim Burton, director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman
 • An original Tim Burton poem, narrated by Christopher Lee
 • A tour of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion ride
 • Behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Nightmare Before Christmas
 • Tim Burton's short film "Vincent"

Both the Blu-ray and DVD release will also receive a digital copy of the film, which Disney is calling "DisneyFile". Exclusive to the Blu-ray release will be a introduction from Tim Burton.

I can only imagine how beautiful Gladiator will look in hi-def. I was blown away when I first saw it on DVD.
Gladiator was also in the works from what I've heard.

I already had the Ultimate Matrix DVD collection and upgraded to HD-DVD, so they would really have to do something special for me to double-dip. I don't really see that happening, though.
Question is if they made any changes that make it double-dip worthy or not.
I believe the only difference is... The Animatrix was in SD on the HDDVD version and it's in Hi-Def on the Blu-Ray version.

Are all of the extras from the 2-disc I Am Legend DVD included on the BR version? I checked DVDTalk but they don't have a review of I Am Legend BR up.
I believe the only difference is... The Animatrix was in SD on the HDDVD version and it's in Hi-Def on the Blu-Ray version.
If it's just that, then I think I'll pass for now.
The Animatrix in HD is nice, but not enough to get me again. I would buy the Animatrix, though, if and when they eventually break the set-up.
Agreed. The pic dallow posts shows The Matrix Experience being on one BR, so I'm wondering if they did anything with the supplemental content.

HighDefDigest says that all the supplemental material is only SD on the HD-DVD version:
http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/matrix_umc.html

If they did anything to take the supplemental content from SD to HD, then that might lean a little towards doing a double-dip. We'll have to wait for the reviews to see what's coming in the package besides The Animatrix upscaled to HD from SD.
Hey now, what do you mean upscaled from SD to HD?
Is the source material not HD?
Read through the link I posted from HDD. They list that there's quite a bit of the supplemental material that's not the movies that are SD/480i only. The Animatrix, as well as quite a bit of the add-ons from the SD version of the Ultimate Matrix Trilogy set.

If they redid all of that to HD, then it seems like more of a double-dip option than just getting the Animatrix in HD, which I'm sure they'd do as a separate BR disc anyway.

Got in my copies of both Lost Boys & Harold & Kumar go to White Castle from Warner today....

I also ordered H&K 2, but they didn't ship it yet, so I sent them an email

Gladiator
Scareface
Braveheart
Gladiator and Scarface are definitely in the works. Gladiator is "supposedly" coming out later this year overseas, so undoubtedly it will have a domestic release date fairly soon. I don't think it is concrete yet, but its definitely been talked about. Scarface is basically same boat, but I believe it has a rumor of a fall/winter release domestically as well.

Braveheart is another ballgame. Paramount has been notoriously slow thus far since coming back to BR, I'd reckon we'll be waiting till 2009 for that baby.

Yea I scored Lost Boys at my local Blockbuster a couple of days ago. Love that they put out catalog BRs early, have gotten Batman, as well as the Mummys roughly a week before street each time. Thank fuck theres not much coming out that I want for a few weeks. I have to play catch up for a bit, but hopefully by August Ill have everything I could possibly want on BR thus far released and get ready to get wallet raped come the fall! Got the Jack Ryans coming in from Amazon.

Also, you import buffs may want to consider jumping on Xploitedcinema if you're on the fence. They're not "going out of business", but they are going to stop getting new stock in, so essentially they are going out of business once they are out of stock. Theres a post about it on their main page. I imagine we may see some sales before long.

Finally got a little extra money and decided to take advantage of Amazon UK's B2G1 sale.

Ended up getting

Almost Famous
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
The Crow (has region coding but I'm above that )

For £30.56 ($60.72) shipped

Aerosmith needs to re-release "Big Ones You Can Look At" on BD. It's been almost 15 years since it came out on DVD. & there's obviously a demand for it since used copies still go for $60 on average.
Sweeney Todd has fantastic PQ

It's probably the best :br: I've seen so far.
Yea its pretty damn good. The best (IMO) is I, Robot domestically, and Zodiac Directors Cut (Dutch import) overall for purity in terms of sticking to the film's vision (Zodiac was the first film shot entirely in 1080p). Id put Sweeney in the top 5 though.
(Zodiac was the first film shot entirely in 1080p)
Um, no.

Ignoring the fact that Apocalypto/Superman Returns were filmed with the Panavision Genesis camera (native 1080p) and the fact that actual film is a much higher resolution than 1080p which is just shrunk down for home release, Zodiac wasn't entirely shot with the Thomson Viper. They used a normal camera for the slow-mo death scenes.

First mainstream film to be shot 100% digital was Attack Of The Clones, back in 2002.

Doomsday actually gives them a run for their money.

I was freaking surprised by how great of a PQ it was.

Sorry guys about the non updates, been a long ass two weeks with college.. taking 15 credit hours during summer is a pain -_-V

My take this week

Dark City
Beowulf
Harold Kumar White Castle/Bay
Doomsday

Expensive week :(
