So I had a weird thing happen today. I pre-ordered the Batman Blu rays from Warner months ago. The other day, I had to cancel my credit card due to someone stealing my card info(I wasn't phished, last time someone hacked into buy.com and took our info). Today I got an email stating my order shipped and was charged to my Visa, which is cancelled. Did I just get free movies from Warner? I hope so! Their customer service was horrible and didn't help when I called.

BTW - If you're a Batman Fan this is a "MUST OWN" I got my hands on it and my friend is a raging Bat Fan and he's watched it like 7 times already.

"Gotham" BTW ;)
I'm a Batman fan and I didn't care for it at all. It just seemed really bland when he wasn't fighting villians and it seemed to have nothing to do with Nolan's films.

Pretty big disappointment actually.

It wouldn't be the first time Warner has given free movies... they ship a lot of canceled orders from time to time as well.
when does Batman: Gothic Knight release on BluRay?
Its stupid. 6 really lame "episodes" all with different anime-like styles. I was bored to tears.

Just picked up Begins from Blockbuster, regular Blu-Ray edition. They had the gift set too.

Apparently, this is pretty rampant, and when I asked the manager who I know personally (after the purchase was complete lol) why it was out early, they apparently have a deal with Warners to sell it as soon its in.

24.99, not a CAG price, but I saw it on the shelf and couldnt resist.

They had an open gift set behind the counter as the mgr had bought it, it is really crappy from what I saw. Its just the regular edition cramped into that box with all the other junk. The one good thing is the movie cash, the rest is pretty much throwaway junk. Even the comic wasn't particularly interesting.
I'm scared to see the price of that set.
MSRP = 179.99 :cry:

30 Bucks an f'in disc basically. Amazon will likely have it for 149.99 I'd bet.
yea i saw that earlier. kinda expensive. I hope they have a better price than that before it releases because I really want it.
Agreed, expensive, and oh I want it sooooo bad too!!

I wish the 3rd movie wasn't included though, it sucked hard!!

Also, it better have top-notch PQ.

Never saw the film in theaters. As a 17 year old who loved the early video games, all the cartoons, and that movie with Tommy Lee can you rate the movie? and the disc?

really? awe, that sucks. it had potential.

Batman Begins basically stands over Batman Forever, squats down, and takes a very huge, smelly shit on it. The Dark Knight is going to be even better.

Supposedly it has the opening sequence of the Dark Knight in HD. Give it a watch and let us know? (As if it's going to be anything less than fucking awesome...)

Also that Band of Brothers price is ridiculous. Then again, from what I've seen no one, NO ONE sells BDs at MSRP so I'm hoping from Amazon it'll be $100 or under. I love BoB but I've got every episode in HD to hold me over until this is a decent price.

For those interested:

Looks like Universal is loving slip covers as all the movies contain them (aside from Scorpion King). The actual Blu-ray cases are actually a bit square...kinda reminds me of the import HD DVD cases.

1000376jg3.jpg

The inside pamphlet also shows some unannounced movies including Billy Madison, Serenity, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, The Thing, Happy Gilmore, Fearless, Pitch Black, The Good Shepard, Hulk, The Kingdom and Jarhead.

I've been A/Bing between the Blu-ray (PS3) and HD DVD (XA2). And while the Blu-ray looks a bit sharper, its not mind blowing. I have only viewed a few scenes (and the same time stamp) and have yet to really get into it so its just a small impression.

The menu design is actually much nicer then the HD DVD. Cleaner and less clunky. Response is much much much faster.

Disc Sizes...
Doomsday says"BD-25".
The Mummy films both say "BD-50".
The Scorpion King says "BD-25".

It's got the IMAX prologue for Dark Knight. I haven't watched it yet but it says so on the back. There's reviews of the disc about on places like High Def Digest and Blu-Ray.com and both give the PQ very high marks. Its basically the same source as the HD-DVD disc.

For my money, Batman Begins is the greatest comic book movie ever. The only negative for me is Katie Holmes who is a terrible actress, but she doesn't have a huge role. From all indications, Dark Knight is even better which I tend to believe it will be.

That's completely correct.
Batman Begins is a must buy on any format.

TDK prologue looks fantastic. It is kind of dull though. That's relative to the seconds of footage scene in the trailers though. Which means by normal standards it's really kickass. Sound on that is only DD640 though.

BTW the Kill Vols. 1,2 are $40 shipped at amazon. It's some sort of bundle deal.

It's good to know HBO is going to continue their tradition of "the most overpriced movie discs in EXISTANCE" now that they've made the jump to Bluray. I'll certainly be able to sleep better at night now.

So apparently Anchorman & Old School are coming out on 9/23

And Indy 4 is coming out on DVD in October, but they're not sure about a :br: release yet

If theres no "Ron Burgandy" then i'll pass
If theres no "Ron Burgandy" then i'll pass
2nded. I hope you're joking. "Anchorman" is the Legend of Ron Burgundy.

:applause:Well Played Deadpool!! Well Played:applause:
Anchorman, Old School - 9/23
Forgetting Sarah Marshall, 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up - 9/30

Win.
Thanks! I love Old School. Looking forward to that now.

That "movie" is pretty terrible... but if you wanna see more outakes of Ferrell ad-libbing a bunch of scenes, it's worth a watch... no need for it to be on Blu-Ray though.

I have the HD-DVD anyway... I'll wait to switch to Blu whenever I find it cheap.

I probably won't be concerned with upgrading some of those comedies to BR, though they are good movies. If the reviews really credit the transfer though, I might consider.
Where's Cable Guy on Blu-Ray ?
Studios for the most part have said that they are more concerned with getting recent movies to blu ray, rather than past releases.

Which is why we havent seen lost season1/2, or greys anatomy (Yes I watch it, hush) season 1-3...

I don't think we will ever see Cable Guy on blu ray. Jim Carrey will probably put a stop to the movie ever coming out lol.

if Jim Carrey has a big comedy coming out some of his older movies will show up on blu - maybe even cable guy, that seems to happen a lot.

Batman original (new batman), so i married an axe murder (love guru), lion/witch/wardrobe (new narnia movie), etc.

plus cable guy distribution is from columbia tri star which is part of sony now i think which always puts outs random old titles.
If I wanted to go the HTPC way whats the cheapest solution?

Well, like what kind of computer to buy etc. I wanna be able to store a bunch if media files that will play on my TV and also a dual HD/BD drive.
Cheap & HTPC usually dont go together. Good HTPCs are quiet HTPCs. So that usually means better components w/ big heatsinks and big slow fans.

A good site to start is http://www.silentpcreview.com

newegg.com and zipzoomfly.com are the 2 best sites for PC parts

WTF?! My Walmart didn't get any in either.... that's SUCH a major release not to be stocking!

I just got Deja Vu in and I have never seen the worst placement of a security tag. It was right over top of where the chapter list was :wall:

A knive, goo-gone and 10 minutes later I was able to remove it without scratching the case but boy what a pain in the ass.

That's not as bad as over on the HighDefDigest forums, somebody got a security tag on the data side on their Batman Begins disc

Holy shit

How in the world did Warner do that?

warner natural born killers put it on the book instead of the paper on the outside of the book

they're horrible at that

i'm guessing bc batman begins is a catalog most stores won't carry it

My copy of BB is backordered from buy.com. I needed to buy it through paypal and DDD's shipping sucks for me. It took almost 2 weeks to receive Cloverfield.
