Borderlands discussion - Is Moxxi hot or not?

Excited to see the update this afternoon when I logged in. Ran right to the vending machine in Ned's Zombie place; the one that was broken and couldnt be fixed again. Damn it if they didnt fix it! It had a kick ass Hunter upgrade thing I so wanted. They need to fix that thing.

Awesome, its good to hear that even working on the future of downloadable content that they are still patching the bugs and glitches out. I'm going through the game again with my first character, the guns are sweet.

Juat picked this up a few days ago. I'm not a big FPS fan but I love this. Since I'm a noob at this anyone have suggestions on a decent Siren build?

Borderlands sells two million copies
Take-Two added that the game "has established itself as a key franchise for Take-Two, for which the Company has long-term publishing rights," so it seems as though 2 million or so of you have a return trip or two to look forward to in the coming years.
:) :)

could you please help me on borderlands on the battle for the badlands level it wayyy to difficult for me so if you are online now and willing to help then please add me my gamertag is :madnath619
The storage locker should have been in the game...as an unlockable after you finish the game. I'm playing through the game right now for the first time and I like the limitation. It makes you think about what you want to carry vs. what to sell for cash.
the irony is, they could have put in an achievement for this with something along the lines of "vault" i.e. your storage vault. but I totally agree, a bank after 2 playthroughs would have been awesome...oh well, i know im getting the next DLC just not on the 29th.

as for siren builds, most players tend to go elemental in the beginning then branch out to controller. it just seems to be the most effective for running around doing the campaign just pair up with a good elemental attack smg and you're golden.

I got this game, i'm only at level 4 (i'm a solider) and its totally "meh" to me. I don't see the appeal does anything significant happen in this game soon?

Play with friends.

Yeah i've been told that, but still the game is just talk to a person then go kill "X" every time. Well so far thats all its been.

It'll grow on yah. I've only been able to do solo, aside from split screen, and It is highly enjoyable at level 25 and higher for example. The guns, the guns, the guns.

I'm enjoying playthrough 2 as a soldier, I finally have an ability I can use every 10 seconds! :bouncy:

I'm hitting a tough spot in the game, I'm level 28 or 29 and I really haven't upgraded a gun in a while, I use a assault rifle with 120 damage and a 3 burst fire for most ever situation. I also have a class mod that makes that all the better.

I'm really hoping to find something of value quick or I'm afraid this will start to be a chore to finish.

You can farm new haven for guns. It has 5-6 chests and you can just exit to main menu then continue your game to get all the chests "respawn". Honestly though, higher lvl weapons aren't always better. I had a 2 shot corrosive revolver that was like a lvl 22 weapon that destroyed everything the last 3rd of the game.

At lvl 29 you are probably getting near the end of the game. Corrosive and shock weapons are good for the 2 main enemy types that you will run across.

Wow, this game is soooooo much better in multiplayer. It scratches that WoW itch.......but with guns! So far im only a mid 20s soldier and a lvl 11 Siren but hit me up w/ a friend invite if you want to play some multiplayer. Trust me, if youre getting bored playing in single player please play on xbl.....it doesnt even feel like the same game.

Beat the game last night all done co-op. Loved it for that and a million other things. Also fully beat all the DLC. But I got to say the main story is crap or nonexistent. The DLC story was great. I am getting the achievements for all tha charters now and hope to get all the achievements before moving on.
Yep. I hit 45 awhile then MW2 hit and I can't even PAY people to play with me to help me to get to 50. 41 to 50 is a griiiiind.
I'm probably going to grab the Mad Moxxi DLC; since I'll be playing Borderlands anyways, I'll help you out even if you don't get the DLC.

Did you get the Dr. Ned DLC already?

I'd rather level up to 50 in that than going back to playthrough 2.

as much of a Borderland fan I am, I'm going to hold off on the DLC until it patches a few times. who knows what the bank system will delete/glitch first time around...and since a bunch of my borderlanders still haven't finished Dr. Ned with me on 4 player, there's little reason to get the DLC tomorrow.

Dr. Ned is awesome. It's really better than the main game thanks to the great story and fresh environments. It pains me to see people passing on it. ~ ~

How do you even start another play through. We dont have any more missions to do after beating it and so all we can do is run around killing easy stuff for low xp.

After you beat the game on the main menu right after you choose your character it should offer you to pick between playthrough 1 or playthrough 2. Playthrough 2 is obviously the tougher one.
I think I'm going to skip Dr. Ned.
I wouldn't mind going to your game. Whatever gets it done faster.
Really? The Mad Moxxi DLC just seems like another Horde/Firefight mode.

I'll try to get on either today or tomorrow. Do you already have 1000/1000?

I still need the Siren and Hunter specific cheesmintz.

Just got this game today and I've been playing through it in co-op with my girlfriend. Gotta say, having a ton of fun with it. I'm playing as the Siren, and she's the Soldier. Working pretty well. She nails guys with a combat rifle/shotgun, and I'm sitting back picking at them with a sniper rifle or incendiary pistol. Looking forward to playing Dr. Ned, along with the new DLC tomorrow.

I played a decent amount of online with my Siren and I've found she's really good as a close combat class, maybe not as good as Brick, but better than soldier or hunter. Soldiers are good to stay by cover and drop turrets, Siren can blast people from medium and close range then just phasewalk and hide by them if needed. Especially with 4 people I would run around igniting/corroding everything let the other players/DOTs finish them off. The +shield class mod is great with 4 people as well.

Well, it's different from what's already in the game. From what I've heard about Dr. Ned, it's more or less of the same, just different setting, characters, etc. Moxxi sounds like theres more replay value to it, and it adds a storage system.

I need some of the class specific ones too...I think for Brick and Roland.

Just tried out the new DLC for like 45 mins. It seems a lot like firefight. There are 3 arenas, the different rounds have different modifiers and round types. On playthrough 2 (lvl 50 Siren), the NORMAL waves have all lvl 50 guys (if you get surrounded it seems like you can get killed very easy). The HORDE wave has a ton of melee guys (in the arena I was playing it was pretty much all burning psychos). The BADASS wave has all badasses, but different types, so they fight each other (seems pretty easy). Then the BOSS wave which has bosses from the game (so far seems really easy).

Oh the round modifiers are things like pistol power (pistols do more damage, other weapons do less), high enemy accuracy (they aren't lying), low gravity (jump higher), vampire (you lose health constantly, but get health from killing guys).

You don't get weapon drops, but you get ammo+health drops between rounds. After the second boss wave, there were some weapons in the middle of the arena, so you can get weapons somehow (I think after the boss wave, but not sure).

It's a lot of fun so far, it's fast and hectic.

I got a green alien shotgun. I've never seen it before, so not sure if there are new weapons, or if this was already in game. There's also a bank mod that costs 9.9 million, which I thought was pretty funny.

Thanks Bardock,

Do you get XP from the new DLC? Is there any lvl cap upgrade? Any real reason to get this DLC? Any new achievements?

No new level cap or XP. You get two new skill points to spend plus there is a weapons locker (which personally I don't see point of, but whatever). Plus you do get more new weapons in between rounds I believe and if it's anything like the other arenas in the game it'll be more hectic as hell versus Horde/Firegiht (no cover, plus can modify game with juggernauts etc.). Though when you die in the game you get sent to the penalty box where you have to help your friends by shooting down enemies from afar and don't get out until new round starts. Last, but not least, 125 points worth of new cheezmint points.

I'll be getting it later tonight (woooo Siren back in play!).

How do I get the new skill points? I started up the game and didn't see any extra to spend. I'm a level 50 soldier.

You get them from completing missions within Moxxi's.

That sounds awesome, I still need to pick up the zombie dlc though lol.

I'm glad I held off on getting the game again and buying the DLC. When they start coming out every 2 months it seems like a big waste of points. I'll wait until I can get them all in an affordable fashion.

The new DLC is fun but the 100 wave upper challenge in each arena is a bit much. 3+ hours to complete each arena?! Pfft. Not sure I'll be buying the next DLC even though I've loved this game up until this DLC.

Is all this DLC worth buying if I'm still on my first playthrough? (Siren lvl 19) Will it benefit me at all now or should I tackle them once I've completed the game?

I recommend you to tackle them once you complete the main quest. You're probably going to have a hard time if you get the DLC now. Also, from what I've seen with the Moxxi DLC, it's best to wait for that until a higher level.

I downloaded the Moxxi DLC earlier today and was able to get my friend to play co-op with me. Going from a recent interview, it looks like there are 20 round, 5 wave matches (100 total waves) which I think is way too excessive. 5 round matches typically takes about an hour to complete. I really cannot see myself playing 3-5 hours straight to beat a certain tournament.

There are different waves (Starter, Horde, Gun, Badass, and Boss). Horde is probably the easiest since you can simply run-and-gun without worrying too much for cover. The boss wave will consist of a boss you've already fought along with a couple of enemies. From what I've played, I didn't find them to be too hard as you're mainly focusing on one guy. As stated earlier, there are 5 waves per round, each round taking about 10-15 minutes depending on how long it takes to rid of the wave. There are three maps (I was only able to play one of them).

Co-op is highly encouraged. If a teammate ever dies in battle, they are sent up to a tower in the middle of the map and are able to use their skill and attack enemies below. They are to stay there until the wave is over. I found this to be effective with the soldier, as I was able to use my turret and heal my ally by shooting him.

After each wave, supply drops of health and ammo will magically fall from the sky. MEGA potions and MEGA ammo usually will supply you enough to reach max health. After a couple of waves, you will be able to collect loot at a certain location. I'm level 50, so I was able to get some rare weapons.

You will get modifiers in each wave. These modifiers may range from higher fire damage to better accuracy. It's randomly generated each round.

One complaint I have about this DLC would be the penalty for the death of the whole party. If your team were to ever be wiped out, you'd be sent back to the beginning of the previous round. So if you were on round 3, wave 5 and die, you'd be sent back to round 2, wave 1. I understand they were trying to make the game harder and more challenging, but it just avoids the inevitable and is unnecessary when you've already gone through the round. I understand modes like Firefight or Horde Mode have an immediate game over once you die, but it's something about Moxxi which makes it different...I don't know what it is.

The lobby will have vending machines, selling you ammo, guns, health, and etc. One new addition would be the bank, or storage system. You start out with 12 spots to hold your guns and equipment, and you may increase the size of the storage by paying a fee.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase. The atmosphere of the arena is spot-on and Moxxi will rile you up throughout, making it you feel like your in a true arena.

I'm also looking for other level 50 Borderlanders who would like to play some Moxxi!

The music in Moxxi is waaaay too catchy. Besides that me and my friend immediately like Moxxi once she said "Time for the gun wave! Pew pew pew!"

I just tried playing some Moxxi solo, and it was cool, but you can tell it was totally built for co-op. Let's try and get a Level 50 group together!
