If you end up liking the game a lot grab the GOTY disc as well. It is worth the extra $$ IMO. Good snag though Mr. A
Chac always takes a break from posting in the GGT every now and then. He'll be back just give him some time. Played more MGS4 last night, getting ready to start Act 3. Mak/MM, it cool if I add you to my Psn?
Yeah sure thing. My PSN list is a little sparse at the moment and it could use a little lovin .. especially from anyone that has Warhawk. :)

I have to say, I played Apollo Justice before I could play Trials and Tribulations. And as much as I LOVED Apollo, this last case in Trials and Tribulations has to be my favorite case in any of the Ace Attorney games. And Godot is definitely the best of the prosecutors.
I loved MGS1 and the remake of MGS1 TTS. I also loved MGS3 and feel it is the best MGS thus far. I didn't like MGS2 at all, nor do I like PO. Of course you can't really compare PO to the other MGS games since it is a lot different then the main games IMO. MGS2 was just a mess story wise, even today there is some stuff I still don't know what the fuck was going on. If I cared enough to replay it I could probably figure it out, but I don't care enough about MGS2 to do so. MGS2 is in the same boat for me as DMC2, as they were both suppose to be so great, and both ended up being terrible IMO.
It's really funny reading an old post of mine from the beginning of the year and seeing how much time/my opinion has changed. I actually just replayed MGS2 the other day and I actually get the story/like it a lot more then I once did. I still hate PO and DMC2 though, even though some people make DMC2 to be much worse then it actually is.
I'm a Rin Aoki fan as well.
I think Yuma is my favorite right now. I'm starting to like Aino Kishi as well.

Maria and Mihiro are in Juicy Honey 9 this summer, if anyone collects AV trading cards. If my girl Yuuri Morishita ever does AV, though, I will asplode.

Speaking of Japanese imports, I sure do hope MS drops the price on the 360 there (as is rumored here around E3 time) by the time the shmups I want are released...

cant stop listening to the theme songs to Gundom 0079 and 0083 >_<

got Simple 2000 Series Vol. 88: The Mini Bijo Keikan (Mini Skirt Police) from Goozex today...just looking at the guy with the gag-ball is freaking me out already -_-

I need to find time to play more Blast Works. =( I need to rip into the editor sometime soon.

MK Wii > All MKs
Even if you play tons of online, MK DS is loads better.

Main reason being: the AI is balanced!

by the way, how many people actually played (through?) metroid prime on gc?
Variety is the spice of life, wouldn't you agree?

Mihiro, Rio, Yuma Asami, Sora Aoi, Yua Aida, are all fine by me... ;) I like Riko Tachibana too.

EDIT: NES.

EDIT 2: Old Maria Ozawa as well.

If some of you guys are wondering what me and Rei are talking about, don't google these names at work.
Well I know who Sora Aoi is. Its been a while since I have watched any of her stuff....

Ugh. My dog has been barking at a fox that's outside the fence for the past hour. I should just let my dog go at it. I think he could take it :D

And uh...I like videogames.

I'm around and stuff. Mega Man 9 is good news, but 8-bit graphics and sound? Lame as shit.

what'm I playing... I'm playing STALKER. Also, glad I didn't pick up Commando 3 for a buggy-ass ST. That's pretty ghetto that it's as broken as it is.

What else.. uhm... picked up Berserk Vol. 23 today, and I hafta go to a wedding tomorrow. Which means dressing up and looking not like a scrub. Ugg, I don't like the thought of that.

I'm sad that Alone in the Dark sucks. Ironic that it's the best Atari can get... they should stick to what they're good at, which is nothing. They're gonna be outta the market (at least the mainstream one) real soon...

I also was editing my Crisis Core review I did a while back for a writing sample to submit, and I hadn't really read through the final product post-changes that RPGFan did. They changed two things... the first thing, where they changed what I put to something that didn't read right at all was annoying... but I could deal. The second one which I just saw today had "in my opinion" added to that. Not only does that destroy any credibility the author might have had, but it makes you sound like a complete twat when you're basically like "IMO" in a review. Of fuckin' course it's my opinion... it's a goddamn review you slackjawed yokels. Those are the only things the guy changed, which gives me the impression that he just did that so he could claim that he edited it. C'mon. I need to be getting paid before I'll accept moronic changes like that.

Speaking of reviews, I reviewed Lost Planet: Colonies here: http://www.honestgamers.com/systems/content.php?game_id=34089&console_id=13&review_id=7170

It was mega disappointing though. That's the second time I've felt like Lost Planet was a complete waste of time, so I'm definitely not going to bite on the inevitable Lost Colonies: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition Arctic Blast Chiller Icy Hot Edition. Because adding in Phoenix Wright as a playable character will not change the fact that the game has a D in its mouth all the time.

On a brighter note, STALKER and Beatmania are great things!

Hm, I could've swore some GGT'ers said the knock down lag was fixed in LP:Colonies.

What's lame is Capcom could've changed the hit detection during the fall down animation to prevent your character from taking too many unavoidable hits. I mean that couldn't have been hard and it's not like they'd be drastically altering the fundamental code.

Funny how a simple thing like that can dramatically affect one's enjoyment of a game...

I think they reduced the number of times you fall down, but it still happens way too often, and enemies can still do the whole "shoot you with a rocket *fall*, shoot you again *fall*" till the end of time. I've wanted this game to be good so badly, but the gameplay just isn't there...

I still like the delayed animation. It's not as well thought out as Monster Hunter where you have to actually do planning with animation and understanding of your enemy's timing, but it's int he same vein.

I can see why people won't like it, but I think it gets too much picked on than it really needed or should have.

I just don't think it belongs in a straight-up action game like this. There's nothing about this game that's trying to be methodical, so when something impedes you like that all the time, it's damn annoying IMO. Now if the character were to reel back briefly when he takes damage, or if he could roll out of a fall or do a fall recovery, that might change things, but Capcom didn't think that far ahead.

I really hope that Bionic Commando is like... the exact opposite of LP.

damn Chac....i ordered LPC from a CAG already -_-....but i loved the first one, so i should be good right?

(also, nice to see ya around again)

can't wait till i get my Gears of War replacement in the mail! >_

Oh yeah, if you liked the original, you'll like Colonies better. It's not even debatable.

Took out The Fear. Gods I hate that creepy ass spider-man. Though I had more fun this time and fed him poisoned mushrooms and started shooting his ass as he vomited all over. Hilarity ensued.

Call me crazy, but for some odd reason I picked up and started playing Brawl again for fun. Even by myself (as is 90% of my gaming time) it's still fun. Take that people who say it isn't for loners!

Going to start a Cubs franchise tomorrow in MLB 08: The Show. Going to update the rosters, simulate to tomorrow's date, and trade for C.C. Sabathia.

Super Mario Kart forever.
MK Wii > MK DS > MK 64 > MK SNES > MK DD > MK GBA

Unless maybe you've got some nostalgia for the SNES one, in which case it might be able to flip flop with the N64 one.

And good one on the "DS had balanced AI" joke. Wait, that was a joke, right?

Morning GGT,

Interesting order Daroga, I've not played the Wii version but I think I might have put the GBA version ahead of the Snes and MK DD.

In personal gaming news I'm nearly done boosting Def Jam Icon, one final push tonight should do it. Then I can get back to Enchanted Arms and Lost Planet Colonies.

I hated the forced coin-collecting mechanic in the GBA. I'm find with position determining unlocks and time determining ranking in the DS / Wii setup, but I seem to recall having to unlock cups by winning AND having a certain amount of coins at the end of a GP. That was not a good plan. SNES gets the bump over DD for me just because it started it all. I don't think that game holds up at all. Forced split screen FTL.

But, yeah, most of the MK Wii complaints were from people's poor memory or inability to learn how to play. The blue shells / lightning are just as frequent in Wii as they were in DS (if not less common), the POWs can be avoided by-and-large. Wii does everything good that DS did, ditches snaking, and adds really good online (even by 360 standards). It doesn't edge out DS by much, but it is the fuller, more robust game.

The only thing DS has over Wii is portability and Waluigi Pinball. :(

Having played the Mario Kart games from the start, I agree that the Wii version is the best also.

However I really like Advance and Double Dash.

Mario Kart Wii is fun, but I still like SNES and 64 versions a bit more... that's just me though.

Short day for me today at work... Gonna catch WALL-E with my daughter then some fighting game fun! Anime Expo next week! Looking forward to hanging out with some friends there and checking out the Shin Megami Tensei panel and trying to get a David Hayter autograph.

I wish I was going to AX this year for that SMT panel....

My main problem with Mario Kart Wii was just that I'm completely and other sick to death of the franchise. Too many games over the years. I'm pretty much at that point with all the Nintendo franchises, and also with a lot of the yearly Sony franchises like ratchet, sly cooper etc. as well.

From the little I played of MK Wii, it seemed like a fine Mario Kart game, I wasn't big on the tricks and didn't like the tilt steering control option (but it was fine with the analog stick options). But just more of the same old shit.
My main problem with Mario Kart Wii was just that I'm completely and other sick to death of the franchise. Too many games over the years.
6 games over 16 years (excluding arcade games)?

I agree that the series is stale, but it's still fun for a pick up and play game, and it has not been exploited as much as other series.
I don't like Mario Kart.
yeah same

the items randomness is just too much for me.

it's like, why bother to play when it's not even good to race your best all the time?

i remember playing the GC version, i would let my roommates get a half-lap headstart and still win.

then they would do it and they would win.

meh.

Space Invaders EXTREME is very addicting. The DS verision is much better than the PSP Import I tried a few months back. It lacked structure and leaderboards. Online play is great fun too. Daroga, you should post your friend code!

Been trying to play throguh Dark Sector. It's okay. Not bad, not great. Floating at a C+ right now. Aftertouch with the blade is good fun, though. Ninja Gaiden 2 is turning up the suck with those rocket launcher enemies in the russian city. I'm pushing through it though.

Did anyone pick up arkanoid DS this week? I was temped but did the responsible thing and only got one game.
