$50 gift card when you buy 2 select video games

Target will pricematch Gamestop.com and you will still get the $50 giftcard, YMMV as some stores are starting to make it a 'giftcard or pricematch' thing if they've already been hit, online chat support might hook you up with a pricematch, you probably will only be able to pricematch 1 copy of each game. Do separate orders as I believe it's 1 card per transaction

Dam. I guess if its a failure I can return the stuff. I guess I should wait to make sure. He did the price adjustment after I placed the order, so I guess it makes sense it would show full price first. I will just wait and hope for the credit to my redcard lol.

Was pretty excited about this as I actually want these two games and don't normally take part in trade in shenanigans. Hopefully it will work out.

I think the only way to get this deal now is in Store and even that is iffy since I'd best most would realize that you're getting a price match and a GC. It is what it is, oh well. Congrats to anyone that benefited off of this

At the first store the guy told me he couldn't give me the gift card after the register told him to, and be offered me to get the gift card + 2 games for $120 or just the price match, and I said I'd prefer the price match because $60 is less than $70. He tried to skip the gift card but the POS wouldn't let him, so he gave up and just gave it to me. I just acted surprised and thanked him for his help, and on my way.

I just had an experience. I tried one more time to get the price match online. The person at first says no and I explained I got a PM earlier today so they tell me they will go research it and then tells me the items do qualify for a PM and to place the order and then give her the number. I do that and she replies with okay, I took 20.11 off your order. Huh lol. She then starts explaining that the discount is $70 off and witht he $50 card, I will be paying $120.  Yeah, I was lost too. Anyway, I called up customer service on the phone and told her I would just speak with someone about it.

3 hang ups and being on hold for 20 min later. I get a woman that says the best thing to do is cancel the order and reorder and she will do the price adjustment.  So I do that and she gets Starlink for walmart no problem, then she asks for Rabbids. She tells me that they don't price match gamestop.  I informed her that they do.  She says no sorry it's not included under the competitors price match. I inform her that Targets website says they do and even volunteer to help her find it. She says no I'm sorry but our supervisor says we don't price match kingstop.  I finally realize she misunderstood the name this whole time. I spell it out for her and she puts me on hold for 5 minutes and then comes back with okay I found the game but it's not eligible for the promotion.

I am already tired and so I ask her if I can switch to a different game from the promotion and then she says that no because the Starlink game doesn't qualify either.  She advises I call back tomorrow and gives me the same number the other 3 reps told me to call.  Right now, my order is for $140 with no price match. I will call that other number and report back here.

Our local Target has always had these white knight employees that like to lie about policy whenever one of these type of deals pops up, but figured I'd try before going elsewhere. As per usual, the person said they could only do one or the other and called a manager over to verify. When she regurgitated the same policy, I asked to see it in writing, which of course she failed to produce and proceeded to tell me how it has always been Target's stance. I told her that wasn't exactly true but acknowledged her stance (read: bitchiness) and left.

Next Target I went to, the employee was super nice and helpful in ringing me up, doing the price match and handing over the GC without a problem. Acting surprised, I asked if I could get two more copies for some "friends" for Christmas and he even acknowledged what an amazing deal it was, then turned to his manager and asked if it was legit. I was bracing at that point, but to my surprise he gave a thumbs up and said "you just got a hell of a deal man; what games did you get?" At that point, I was okayed for a second round and we shared a laugh when I handed over the $50 GC to pay for this round. Guy was super chill and did the math in his head even saying how I just spent $20 for four copies of Battlefield V and I was winning at life lol.

Those guys really made our day and we've vowed to shop there now since it's only a little further than our normal Target. Hell, that store was bigger and overall cleaner to boot. Our local Target fucked up bad. I might try doing the CS chat route tomorrow to pickup AC at our local Target just to stick it to those jerks.

Went to a Target last night, it was a super small one that only had literally about 12 different games for sale (I know, right?). Deal still worked like a charm, got two copies of Madden NFL and the gift card for $60.

Would have gotten Rabbids but they didn't have it. Ah well

I wish there was a way to discretely use the gift card like a credit card - I tried a second time and reused the GC from the first purchase and the CS rep was like “wow, buying them over and over and reusing the gift card, that’s sneaky, but hey, the system allows it” haha, huge red flag, but I’ll take my 10 seconds of shame for some cheap Christmas presents. Going to try a couple more today and hope it’s not killed off by the time I’m out of work, thanks OP!

Fwiw, my pending charge still shows the full amount but the email after pickup showed the actual amount charged (after the adjustments). I suspect the redcard balance will catch up in a few days. 🤞

I forgot to mention this yesterday:

At one of the stores I went to, I got two games that qualified and the cashier scanned the gift card, but not only did he not mention to me, but he actually put it to the side for some reason. I didn’t say anything at first and thought “hey maybe it didn’t ring out correctly” and waited for my receipt to see if it was on there. I get my receipt and the cashier says something like “everything ok?” Lo and behold, the promotion showed up on the receipt. I ask him about it and he gave me the most artificial “oh I must have dropped it!” I’ve ever heard on my life. Very shady behavior.

I'm surprised they haven't killed it in the system tbh, people have been massively abusing
It seems their POS allows a lot of things and doesn't have exceptions. It's all about the employee following store policy to prevent these kind of exploits.

I was going to try this out yesterday, but 1 of 2 games for pickup ended up being out of stock. I think after taking advantage of the 15% off coupon glitch this year, I'll give Target a break.

Corporations are people too, lol.

Yea, this seems like quite a bit of work and a bit too YMMV.  I live in California and most of my local stores are quite competent and would probably deny me at the POS.

Awesome for everyone that can get in on this tho!

Worked perfectly fine for me with price matching to GameStop, thanks OP!

Two of three of my attempts worked. Ghetto Target wouldn't let me, and I then realized I didn't want to be there anyway.

Be careful with doing this online. The rep applied the $50 gift card as part of the price match refund.
Same here.

I only care about one title of that list anyway. Even if I don't have the time to play it. Not willing to make the drive 15 mins to a store (and 15 mins back) and come back empty handed.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, that's how it normally applies. In fact it works in our favor because the games end up only being taxed for the $4-5 you're paying for. Each game should be discounted $25 to accommodate the GC.

Just went to pickup the online order and tried to see if I can get another set in store. Sales rep PM’d Walmart without any issues (didn’t try to pay with the gift card from first set though).

Just got off a 40 min call. Transferred to a specialist and he was able to PM the items and could tell what the previous people were doing wrong with my order and told me there isn't any reason they weren't allowed to PM.  He even gave me his email to get right through to him in case the refund didn't go through. I got an email conformation from Target about the adjustment and he says it should work no problem but to email him if there are any issues.

I tried it at my local target. CS said, I couldn't do both together. It was pricematch both games or buy it as is for $50 gift card. Bummer, at least I tried. Didn't want to argue about it. Happy it worked for others.

The game in my order finally shipped, but did not adjust as it usually does. I'm going to try fixing it through chat even though the last rep wasn't willing. I'll be calling if that fails.

Update:

Rep that I got through chat said that he processed a $30 concession for my order to my original form of payment. Still waiting for that e-mail. Not as good as actually adjusting the item amount, but I don't think I'll push it.

So my red card is pending for 111, the order total on target app says 61 and I got an email saying my two games shipped for a payment of 2.97. If I add the 2.97, 50 dollar card and tax I get 61 dollars.

I guess until I see an actual charge on my red card I wont know for sure if it worked.

After five chat reps, I gave up going for a bonus round pickup at the store that snubbed me. Seems their reps are either aware now, or I just had bad luck. Was funny seeing each reps reason why, as none of them matched or cited a policy correctly.

Just did it again in San Antonio, girl in front of me was doing the same and paying with a GC too heh

Can I ask why you guys are even bothering with CS chat? Been to 6 stores and 5 of them had 0 issue giving me the gift card.

You guys getting shot down...are you mentioning the deal beforehand? Are you buying other items along with the games so the gift card isn't setting off such an alarm? A 50 dollar gift card on a 100 plus purchase looks a lot better than on a 60 dollar purchase

I've tried it in store to and he said "we can't combine both offers, so with the price match you won't be getting the GC" I just walked away after

Tried 4 times to price match in chat online last night and struck out. No problems price matching in store today. Most stores are so busy today the employees didn't give me any trouble.

Super busy at my local Target today, pmd both madden 19 and creed oddysey. Out the door for $60 both games with $50 GC lol. It was the tech guys helping me out rather than Targets red shirts employee, so they were pretty chill!

So I went to the first target and got to price match two games not at the customer service. Dude said right away as soon as I asked to price match, you can either price match or get the gift card promo not both. I said just price match, since someone on here said they have no choice but to give you the gift card.

So this guy price matched the games and didn’t give me a gift card and I was shocked cuz how did he just skip the part on the register where he’s required to give me a gift card?

So I go to the next target and price matched two games and dude seemed shocked. Price went up after price matching, I guess he had to let the gift card promo go through, then the price went back down and he gave me the gift card.

I go back to my car and checked the receipt for my first order which didn’t come with a gift card.

It shows the gift card promo with a new balance of $50. I’m just shakin my head thinking “what a dick” don’t tell me he’s keeping that gift card for himself. I’d be pissed

Always check your receipt and go back to that store and complain to management. IDC what their policy is or how they want to handle a transaction, that guy straight up needs to be fired for dishonesty. Hell, put me in coach, I'd leap at a chance to tear into someone like that.

I was trying to use it to circumvent my local store that denied it in-store. Figured it was worth a shot but it seems like it really only works on a local level.

Have you tried just going through with it anyway? I don’t think they have an option to remove the gift card; a CS rep tried saying they couldn’t combine both, but she also couldn’t figure out what to do with it so she just gave it to me.

Edit: typed up this post as I was in line to do it again. Lady tells me “oh actually you can either pricematch or pay the full $120 and get a $50 GC but not pricematch and get the gift card.” I decide just to go through with the pricematch to see what happens. As expected, the computer prompted her to give me the gift card, and she did without mentioning the price match. It was so weird to see her forget what she had just said lol.

Haha, I almost want to try this at my local store now, just to see if the same manager was there and how mad she'd get trying to remove it.

Target employees do seem to not really know what is going on or their own policies. I bought Odyssey yesterday for 3988 and today I see that Best Buy has a for 2999 so I took the two one target that I was picking up my online order from and they told me that they can only price match target.com during the holidays. The guy that is confused looks at my receipt and says you only paid $9 for this game and I explained the whole thing to him and then another employee says oh no we can price match another competitor as long as ours isn't on sale. The guy says ok and tries to do it and says he can't so he called over a supervisor and the supervisor says they can't price match any other site except target.com because of the holidays.

I showed him proof on the receipt that the other Target did it and he just said well they went against the rules and they aren't supposed to do that. I then pointed to my pickup and said this was also price matched online and he's like well I don't know what to tell you sorry we can't do anything to help you.

So then I go to the other Target I went to yesterday where I bought Odyssey and the girl tells me they can't price match a price match or make an adjustment and then says that they weren't even supposed to do a price match in the first place because there is a gift card attached. She wasn't budging and was the supervisor over there so I just gave up. It is starting to become ymmy.

Worked for me at my local store, it may have helped that I bought a few gift items to make the deal less obvious. Picked up BFV and FC5 for 5$ish

From Target's price match guarantee,

"Price matches and adjustments to competitors will not be allowed for prices valid from Thanksgiving Day through the entire week after Thanksgiving. (11/22/2018 – 12/01/2018)."

I guess you could show them a calendar if the give the "we don't price match during the holidays" excuse lol

I mean, clearly this deal isn't actually supposed to work, Target of course isn't trying to give away games for free, you've already abused it a huge number of times I don't get why you are constantly bringing up and acting surprised at the fact you occasionally run into issues from employees who can clearly think, "Yeah, this isn't right."

It's not even about policies, it's common sense, maybe considering how lucky you've got it's time to just quit attempting it ad nauseum?

The people who picked up two games, that seems cool, the people who did it 6-10 times, not so much.
