CAG Arcade Stick Thread II: World Warrior

hey guys,
I recently picked up a SF 15th Anniversary Stick for a nice price from a friend.
What the best adapter for it to use on the ps3? and is there one available for the 360?

I have two TE's (1 PS3 and 1 360) as well but I wouldn't mind using my new pickup as well.

last question, I was big on fighting games back in my day but seem to buy everything but play them just about never. I have Blazblue CE for ps3 unopened and would like tp pick up BBCS but I'm undecided for which system, I guess since I have sticks for each system it's really up in the air.

Really wanting the MvC TE stick (almost desperate) :). Closest one I can find is actually a used one. They told me "a guy bought it, played it once and brought it back".

To me this sounds like "the guy bought it, gutted it, changed parts, and brought it back.
Any real way to tell by looking at it? I have a feeling they won't accept a return if it's already used.

MarkMan, when are those Stick Sacks going to be out?

I missed out on the EVO Sacks because I was too tired on Day 1 and my backpack doesn't fit my TE too nicely.

I didn't know this thread existed. Now I can come here about my stick questions, instead of bothering the FGT!

And you know, I didn't realize how popular those Namco PS1 sticks were. I saw one months ago at the local Play N Trade and thought nothing of it. Wonder if it's still there...

< I like sticks.

Also.

Timing. :)
Ordered from the site. Thanks MarkMan! Can't wait!

How long do shipments usually take with standard shipping from there?

^ Very good deal.

@howlinmad - usually 1 to 2 full business days depending on when you order before it processes/ships.

Got my MvC TE in today and love it!
Only problem is, I can't do a charge move (Blanka cannon ball) or Ken's Guren Senpukyaku to save my life in SSFIV. :(

Don't think the stick is bad, probably just me. Guess the transition takes practice, never had a problem with charge moves before though.

About a month's worth of practice to be able to use it. Several months worth of practice to feel comfortable with it.

Well I won't post my personal TE stick cause it's not finished yet (Old version shown HERE)

I got a custom plexi from Art's Hobbies and got the graphic and plexi ready but I still gotta do the graphics in the clear Semitsu buttons and get a new ball top along with finish the Tootles Chimp Board mod for dual system play.

BUT...

I'll post the sticks I've modded in the last two months for my video gaming business for large events and conventions here in AZ.

AZHPsticks-01.jpg

AZHPsticks-02.jpg

In the next year, I'll be doing many more:

--Two for the 360 for Ikaruga on a monitor that rotates vertically.

--Two for the Dreamcast since there's so many awesome DC fighting games and DC is much more of an arcade emulation on games like 3rd Strike and MvC2 than the PS2/PS3/360 is.

--Two more for the PS2 since two PS2 sticks on 1 setup isn't enough.

--Eight more for the PS3 for 4 more PS3 setups.

MAYBE I SHOULD GET SOME KINDA SPONSORSHIP FROM MARKMAN (winkwink)

:)

So like... I wanna get a different stick for my stick. I want a Seimitsu, and I'm not sure if I should get the LS-32 or the 40. What I hate about the Sanwa sticks is that the dead zone is bigger than a prison inmate's rectum, so whatever would be best for alleviating that is what I want.

Also, I need the -01 version, I think, cuz I'm putting this in a TE stick... is that right?

You cannot bitch about dead zones until you've touched the T6 stick. Get the -01, I don't think you need it, but it's recommended just for the sake of being easy.

Was it worse than whatever the hell's in the EX2? Because that seems impossible.

yeah, for seimitsu, you need the 01s that come with the microswitches and pcb.

I honestly prefer the LS-40 sticks. The microswitches engage faster and there's less throw.

Don't forget the "SS" plate for the LS-40-01 to mount it on the TE. I believe the LS-32-01 comes with its own "SS" plate.

Check a 3rd of the way down for a table comparing the differences between the sticks.

In similar news, just got my TE R2 the other day. The stick was caught on something so I opened it up (was going to void warranty anyway). It was a zip tie end sticking out and getting the stick caught up in it. All I had to do was cut off the excess zip tie. fucking Madcatz quality inspection. Also put on the black bezel in the mean time.

Just gotta wait for my parts LS-40-01, OBSF buttons and Art's plexiglass cover.

Also did the lock (start/select) mod for my R1 TE. Really easy, just one wire and minimal soldering. Boy was there a lot of dust in that baby.

Never touched an EX2, send me one to destroy and I'll tell you.

My EX2 is Modded, its not quite as plug and play but its far from impossible to mod, just a few soldering skills. All sanwa buttons, and the joystick is actually the stock stick from the SFIV SE stick, I even changed the button layout to the proper layout.

Wow, you actually created a hole under the stick. I just ended up pounding a dent on my FS3. Thing is a bit of a hassle to mod, that's for sure.

From Markman's post at SRK:

"...They are individually numbered out of /2000 total.

So yes, it is limited. We aren't making more. But it's not super limited like last year's Femme Fatale or even moreso the Comic-Con TE."

I don't know if he meant 2000 total, or 2000 for each platform. Great looking stick either way. Madcatz has really won me over with their new sticks. And this comes from someone who use to despise the company.

[quote name='FrankCastleAZ']For those who build/mod, I took photos of a VERY cheap PS3 controller ($7) with an easy PCB to hack.
Check THIS topic and page for info/details/photos.

So as someone who has absolutely no clue what he's doing, getting on of those would be my best bet to get a 360 stick running on the PS3?

I'd say that if you're going to hack a controller for dual mod purposes, I doubt you can get any easier than this. So if you're going to do it, then this is a great option.
Doing a dual mod with a 360 stick and one of those controllers wouldn't be rocket science, but it's not a piece of cake either. Some experience is preferred.

Just be careful, read tutorials, be patient and you should be fine.

Ok, good to know. I do have light experience with electronics and soldering, so if I find a good tutorial, I should be able to get the basic gist if it.

I've been researching sticks for the last couple days as I've suddenly been bit by the stick bug. I've been playing fighting games since the original SFII hit the arcades. I had been on hiatus since Dark Resurrection until I played SFIV and was terrible at it (there was a time 10-12 years ago when I could hold my own in SF). I haven't played Tekken 6 but I'd say the Tekken series has been my favorite over the years.

Anyway, I'm not sure how much I'll use the stick so I'm concerned about dropping $100 (or more) on a stick that will just collect dust. Based on the overwhelming stinkface everyone makes at the mention of the T6 stick I've eliminated it from my choices. I was thinking about the SE stick and it seems to get mixed reviews but certainly the price right and it's easy enough to upgrade if I really get serious.

So am I way off with my thinking on this? Is there a better alternative? Has the stick issue with the SE been fixed or will I need to worry about that?

Thanks in advance for the help guys!

The Tekken 6 stick is just your basic Hori stick. Sure its like a C class stick, but it really is good enough for the vast majority of people. I'm fairly competitive in games, and its good enough for me. If you're concerned about the money, I wouldnt buy it. If you want to be super serious or if you just like to have nice things, then buy it.

I used the 25% Gamestop coupon and ordered the SE stick for $39.xx after tax and Tekken 6 is on its way from Goozex. I'll see how everything feels (and how much I use it) and maybe order some new buttons and a stick.

Well I didn't win the football pool, but bit on the Rd 2 TE for $100. All that damn peer pressure...I'm weak.

I'm very excited though.

TE R2 is probably my favorite stick. It looks great (the whole dark theme), doesn't look cheap like the TE S.

The other day I swapped out the buttons for all black ones and replaced the Sanwa JLF with a Seimitsu LS-40. Also popped on a Bat top.

I was thinking of the fried chicken drumstick battop, but it was black enough.

So I just finished dual modding my Chun li stick with a TEasy 1.2 board, it went super well.

I ended up switching the top panel out for the one I had in my original TE. It turned out prettier than I expected, especially the chun art on an old TE.

I also ended up doing some extra measures to ensure the art in the seimitsu buttons actually stay put now, so hopefully that ends up working out.

Here's my personal Chun-Li TE 'S'

MarkMan,
There's a thread on the Playstation forums that says the first gen of the wireless PS3 fightpads were killed by firmware update 3.5. Is this correct?

Also the Cammy pad was the second gen, correct?
