Bad set or user error? Again, for people reading this thread and concerned about input lag, go to AVSforum. Don't listen to shmucks on CAG. Members of the AVSforum do cool stuff like this:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=13897467&postcount=9179

That's for the 6 series which is the same as the 7 series, just fewer bells and whistles.

If you want to know more about input lag on TV sets, go to AVSforum. Do not just listen to people on this board.
Yeah, I must be a fucking moron.

Oh, and by the way, if you ask your precious AVS crowd, they'll tell you the same fucking thing.
yeay but when u play those games are u going for all perfects??

I remember when we useta play competitive DDR at the arcades, and when one of the mixes came out they switched the game to 60FPS.

it threw off so many perfect attackers.

that's jus DDR tho... Rock Band and Guitar Man are for scrubs anyways lol
My girlfriend doesn't have any problem getting perfects.

i dun play DDR tho cuz only girlz play it lol
Seconded.
Really OT in context with the last page or so of posts, but me three. ^_^

So, and sorry if I missed this, am I safe switching my SFIV TE stick from amazon to capcom store? Is it safe to say now that pre-orders are in that the TE stick is a success and MadCatz will make a bit more to satisfy demand?

BTW, I like the SF graphic on your Finkle Buttasuperb.

This guy speaks the truth. If you play fighters for a long time on a plasma screen, prepare to have life bars on the top of your screen during everything you watch.
I meant like complete american style, for MVC2. I was wondering if they sold non customs sticks with P360's and such.
Typically the American arcades didn't use P360's though... just Happ-type sticks with a circular gate. Or am I mistaken?

What exactly is the ideal use of a p360 stick anyway? I was under the impression that a full 360-degree range of inputs would just give you less precise controls in games that only use 8 directions.

fuck CAG and AVSforum

if you have problems with input lag, go to the store and check it out yourself. that solves everyone's problem!
BTW, I like the SF graphic on your Finkle Buttasuperb.
Thanks, I always wanted to use Akuma's BG from 3S as art for a stick, figured I'd invert it and combine it with that artwork. Worked out great.

If you're using a plasma from like... 2001.

Enough derailing, though.

Yeah, butta. That finkle artwork is straight "buttah".

Anyone know if there's gonna be a market for stick art? I've been showing my wife some of the sweet artwork on the sticks in this thread and over at SRK and I think her artistic mojo might be coming back.

I was thinking about using some of my carpentry and electronic skills to make sticks and let her do the artwork but until we build a house, I have zero room for the tools and supplies. She could start on the art though.

According to Sven on Capcom-Unity, it seems like MadCatz is really going into overtime in making more TE Sticks. I'm pretty sure that everyone who wants one will be able to get one. It's just a matter of WHEN they'll get one. Launch ones are pretty much all spoken for.

Let me just say this. The TE stick will be available down the road.

Whether or not it is the same TE stick... that is something you'll have to find out in the future...

I am thinking about getting one of those madcatz sf4 arcade sticks. Not the $150 but the cheaper $70-$80 one. How will it compare to the 2 sticks that I already own? For PS2 I have the HORI Tekken 5 one and for 360 I have the HORI fightstick ex2. On the Tekken 5 stick I really don't have too many problems pulling off moves but on the ex2 I do.

does anyone know if the x-arcade sticks can be used on a 360? I can pick one up for $120 and it has 2 player sticks plus a good set for button layout.
does anyone know if the x-arcade sticks can be used on a 360? I can pick one up for $120 and it has 2 player sticks plus a good set for button layout.
Definitely won't work! I've actually got a whole blog series about that heheheh

I am actually in the process of getting an X-arcade case modded... I'll be using it on 360 and PS2! It won't have any of the original X-arcade guts though!
http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/arcade-sticks/arcade-stick-ranking/

my personal opinion ^^
Thanks for the list. So in your opinion the best fighting stick I could get for the 360 without spending over $100 would def. be the Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick.

Out of curiosity, why does the ex2 rank so low? I mainly use the sticks to play Arcana Heart on PS2, and Guilty Gear Reload on Xbox. Does the actual game matter as far as ease of pulling off moves? In Aracana Heart with the tekken 5 stick I have no problems pulling off supers but in Guilty Gear with the ex2 it's a nightmare. Should a fireball motion be just as easy to pull off in one game as another or is it the sticks or am I just crazy?

Well, here's the reply I got back from Sony regarding the firmware update for making TE sticks compatible with PS2 games....

"Thank you for writing us about backwards compatibility.

First of all, Madcatz is a 3rd party company that we don't endorse let alone, there are a lot of issues with 3rd party peripherals not working properly. We also don't recommend using a 3rd party product for these reasons.

Secondly, backwards compatibility is a hardware issue, not software, so installing a patch will do nothing for the machines.

If the console is backwards compatible, then most PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system games should work fine. It is just the peripherals that will not work with a PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system. "

Completely worthless. She didn't even know what I was talking about. I suppose I should have expected as much.

To be fair, Sony is not going to expend it's own resources to make a third party accessory more BC-friendly--they aren't even working on BC themselves. Plus, Sony has lot bigger problems to worry about I think.

This is the same company that voids your warranty if you "confess" to using 3rd party cables.

Hey MarkMan, why only a B+ for the Green Goblin?

EDIT -- So who's getting the Tournament Edition and who's getting the Fight Stick?

You would think so... But they did release a firmware that fixed issues with sticks not working with BC before....

I could use some cool stick art, and I would be totally willing to be her first customer if the price wasn't bad.

im probably going to be insane enough and keep my TE preorder since i have money from christmas and i might have a job soon :hot:

B+ for a Green Goblin because it is really good :p

It's solid, but check out the criteria I based it on.

The Namco (my favorite) is also a B+.

MM do you know what the deal is on that PS3->360 adapter? I

I'm tempted to pay that guy on shory to solder my 360 controller so I don't have to try to learn to solder myself. Having a wireless stick would be pretty cool too.

Do you guys think the HRAP3 has room for 3 pcb's? I kinda want it to be PS2 compatible so I'd finally have a reason to pick up a dc.

Thanks to the Capcom shop deal, I'm getting the T.E. stick. No tax, 10% off, no shipping AND it's shipped right to my door for $135 was enough to make me jump on it. I was messing around with some of my fighting games with the EX2 and let me tell you, DOA4 is a bitch if you're not used to playing it with a stick.

I just modded my HRAP3 Amazon edition.

I debated over Seimitsu and Sanwa buttons. I love the translucent Seimitsus but from what I've read the Sanwas are better for fighters so I want that route. I thought the green was too vivid to do the ball top as well as the buttons. I'm currently looking around to see if I can buy pre-cut lexan to fit this stick. I have a template and have designed the art for the stick but I'm not interested in trying to cut lexan. I suck at stuff like that. If anyone is interested in making some money, let me know. I have a template I can send if you can cut.

Here's my template design:

i thought zero was jam, for a moment.

so right now i'm considering picking up a regular fightstick and seimitsu modding it, then dual modding both te and regular fe with cthulus. but i don't know, that's a lot of money. ($210!!!!!!!)

but i always wanted to try a seimitsu.

Does anyone who has photoshop and that template wanna drop some art under it for me real quick? I have Rero working on something for me, but I want to make sure this looks okay before he starts.

I can do it. You have the HRAP3, right?

How are you going to mount the art?

Yeah. I'm going to laminate and attach it with spray adhesive. Seems easier than going the lexan route.

That image might be too large, there are smaller ones.
pinkerton.jpg

I just need to see how it works with the buttons covering places up.

This was the best looking I could come up with, I shifted the weezer and pinkerton to fit a little better with the layout.

edit- just remembered you wanted 6 buttons

Hey guys picking up a Hori EX2 Soul Calibur stick for the 360 from my buddy, just wondering if you guys know if the Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbuttons would work on it. I want some translucent buttons, heh.

They'll work the same as sanwa, so you'll have to grind out the button holes a bit.

BTW, nice avatar, I've got the shirt.
That looks super sick, I'm excited. Thanks a BILLION! Now I need to figure out where to print it.

You guys think I should go yellow sanwas and yellow balltop or white?

How do I print that out anyways? Do I bring the psd to the printing place or something?

I'd convert it to a .tif. Those are generally easier to work with and smaller. You can bring it to Kinko's or a similar print shop.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Oh you just have to tease don't you. I ordered two extra sticks hoping that I could redistribute them at a later time. Maybe I shouldn't be doing that eh?

Thanks. I don't have photoshop, but I'll rero do it when he gets around to it.

I'm going to have the text photoshopped out. I think it will look better that way.
I think it will look best with white buttons and a clear bubbletop.

How hard is it to change the gate on a stick? I was thinking about ordering the circular gate to use for a bit and decide which I liked more.
I agree with that color scheme. Gates are easy as pie to change, they just snap in.
Cool, for five bucks I'll order one and see how I like it.

Standard FightStick reviewed by Play Magazine...

http://www.playmagazine.com/index.php?fuseaction=SiteMain.showGamePage&Game_ID=963&page=1

Just read through it... They really did your homework and were up front/honest about their experience with arcade sticks. It makes for a compelling piece and by far my favorite review of the product so far.

Just as my team put attention to detail for the controllers, I'm glad that this review pointed those details out!

MarkMan, do the buttons on the TE have any sort of 'click' to them? The TE will be my first experience with Sanwas so I don't know what to expect.

The same buttons are in my hrap 3 and don't have a click to them. But that's fine -- you literally have to graze them to make them activate.

DAMN! Now that's a responsive button!:D:D:D I think I'm getting over my love affair with clicky buttons so it should be just what I'm looking for. Thanks, Chac.:cool::cool:

Yeah, it's kinda weird at first, honestly. Like, because you really can activate a button accidentally just by sliding your hand over it. But once you get used to it, you can't go back.
