Here's my template design:
I really like how the joystick itself is a part of the design. It always bugs me when the hardware tramples all over a nice piece of art, and there's a stick jutting right out of Sagat's forehead or something.
They'll work the same as sanwa, so you'll have to grind out the button holes a bit.

BTW, nice avatar, I've got the shirt.
Haha yeah, i got the shirt also! Thanks for the advice. Now can anyone point me out how to create the artwork to fit with template? Sorry if its been covered but the thread is 90 something pages long.

Okay, so, I haven't used a balltop joystick since the sega genesis and have faithfully ordered MM's sticks like I said I would. So ... is there anything I should know about using the stick so I don't feel like someone who just picked up a 360 controller and is holding it upside down? Just a few tips will do, please?

Damn that's hot! But is that stick really built around $150-quality parts, or am I spending $150 for some lolli chick action?

Uh, any of your contacts going to import this for resale, MM? ^_^

And cool, I can now update the shmup thread with a release date for Death Smiles.
To be fair, Sony is not going to expend it's own resources to make a third party accessory more BC-friendly--they aren't even working on BC themselves. Plus, Sony has lot bigger problems to worry about I think.
That's a bummer about sticks on the PS3. But what about custom sticks that use PCBs from official Dual Shock controllers? Since that would technically still be a first-party controller, could it work with BC PStwo games? I know nothing about PS3, so sorry if this seems like a dumb question. :p

Find a grip and stick to it.

Then just play.
That's it.
You may need to practice specific motions, (it did take me a while to get used to double motions and even then i can't do double half circles) but that's all. Yes, there's an adjustment period that might be frustrating but it'll go away after a while.
The first time I hit with a deep Ken combo and ended with a flawless Shoryureppa, I just had to smile.

Shoryureppa combos?

J.HP - Shoryureppa?
J.HP - C.LKx2 - (Renda) Shoryureppa?
J.HP - C.MP xx Shoryureppa?
J.HP - C.MK xx HK Hurricane - Shoryureppa?
Late HP Dragon Punch - Shoryureppa juggle?

Now I'm curious.

I can't do doubles for shit. I'm always trying to do ken's sa3 and fucking it up.

Are there any real advantages to a square gate vs. a circle gate? It just seems like a circle would be much more natural.

Thanks for the advice, just wanted to see if there was a universally accepted way to use it. Just one more question, does it matter if you grip the ball from the side or the top? I always gripped it from the top as a kid and did pretty well in SF2. Better yet, is there a wrong way to use a stick?

EDIT: Ken fightpad for me! Ryu maybe for a second one.

As long as you're using the stick with your left hand and the buttons with your right, you should be fine. Though, honestly, I dunno how you could play while gripping the thing from the top... this ain't no crane game, son.

My guess is cr mk jab shoryu into shoryureppa!

I think that works anyways.

Hey, it worked for me, I pulled off flawless hadoukens and shoryukens.

I'm just sayin, I don't know how conducive that'd be to doing double motions for supers and stuff, or if you moved onto a game like Blaz Blue. Like, I dunno if you can move your wrist fast enough that way.

I'm not callin' it wrong, I'm just saying that I personally don't know how well that could work.

Touche, I didn't have to pull off double motions since there were no supers in Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition. Guess I'll just have to get used to gripping it from the side.

TECHNICALLY you have to travel a shorter distance so there's an advantage
but it doesn't really matter

Hey mm, just to let you know the blank HRAP3 template on your mediafire thing is a download for the vewlix template. I learned that the hard way trying to find the blank template for rero.

That Gamestop tourney would be cool if you didn't have to travel so damn far to get to the Round 3 stores. There is no way I would go from where I live to San Jose. It would be cheaper to buy a stick than travel for me.

I know the TE Stick isn't going to be compatible with PS2 games, but what about the SE Stick or Fight pad? I have a SE Fight Stick on preorder at Amazon, but if I'm not going to be able to use it with all the fighting games I have on PS2, then I don't really need one as much
Whether or not it is the same TE stick... that is something you'll have to find out in the future...
My pre-order is already in, but I would love a Tekken 6 stick.

Question about the gates: What would be better for Tekken play? square or cirlce? I thought I read somewhere square would be, which is inside the TE already right?

Square is better for Tekken, at least in my experience. Certainly, both are usable, but square makes ewgf's alot more comfortable for me.

Otherwise there's not too huge a difference.

Also, the gamespot link isn't loading for me, did they take it down or something?

I have a quick question regarding modding the TE/SE SF4 sticks. If all I want to do is change the ball top to a bat top, does it require me to open the stick or can I just unscrew it from the top without opening it?

Sorry if this has been answered before. I'm a complete noob when it comes to modding sticks.

Yeah, you can do it from the top with a pair of pliers to hold the shaft or even just your hands. It's pretty bootleg, but it wont kill your warranty.

Ask yourself this. Why would their nicest stick not work with PS2 games, but the cheaper stick would?

Well I'm just making sure, all I've heard from anyone officially is that the Tournament Edition sticks won't work. I've heard nothing about the Standard Edition sticks. I have a TE stick preordered for 360 because that's the system I'm getting SF4 on and the system I have HD Remix on. I'd like a decent stick to play all my PS2 fighting games with as well (I currently have a Soul Calibur 4 Hori stick which is decent, but I've heard the SE Fightstick will be better) If the SE Fightstick isn't going to work on PS2 games, I'd just assume save the 70 bucks, and maybe look into modding the SC4 stick with some better parts or something.

Gotcha, ZForce. Well, the PCBs inside of the standard and tournament sticks are identical, so they both lack the PS2 functionality. It's safe to assume that the fighting pad lacks it as well.

Yeah, for PS2 compatibility right now, modifying a Hori stick is probably your best option. Let me know if you need any help with it.

Is there a general FAQ for what parts and stuff to buy? I'm assuming all the Hori sticks being sold here are pretty much the same (as I mentioned, I have the Soul Calibur 4 one) I probably won't be doing the mod anytime soon since the majority of my fighitng game action will be done on the 360 for the time being, but I'd like to keep the info handy :)

Anyone know a reliable place to get a HRAP2 still? I had won an auction on eBay for a HRAP2 SA but the seller never sent the item and in the end I lined up w/ a refund and the other place I was going to get it sold out by the time I got my money back >_
