I believe s-kill mentioned this in one of those videos you posted earlier (the gamespot one?). Originally I thought the addition of turbo buttons was kind of lame, but I guess it's cool that you can play in different styles now like the above shows :)

Haven't heard much about the changeable faceplates for the sticks recently.... any word on if they're still a planned feature?

Also, would different artwork be available at launch or down the road?

Gwar, I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how to do custom artwork on my HRAP3 and I can't figure out how. Same for the 360 dual mod. fuck YOU AND YOUR SHITTY RESULTS GOOGLE!

Seth stated that they would be releasing the template for custom art at some point.

So where am I supposed to print the art for the stick? A regular sheet of paper is no where near large enough.

EDIT:
I'm ass with photoshop, so if someone wanted to do me a huge favor and make this fit the front plate of the HRAP3, and switch out the weezer on the top left with DarthPuma in the same font, I could slide you a Spore Origins Iphone code, or a buck or two on paypal.

That is, only if this looks like it would work for the stick.

pinkerton.jpg

As soon as I get this printed I'm going to order my new buttons. I'm a bit dissapointed that they don't have the bubble top in clear/white, and that they are out of white 24mm's. I guess the yellow start and selects I have will kinda work since the art is yellowed. A yellow bubbletop could work too.

the text in the bottom left has to go too.

EDIT 2: Shit, the turbo stuff would cover up the DarthPuma, and the start/select would cover up the pinkerton.. Hm.....

:x another point where Seth is misquoted.

You can easily swap out art. I'll show everyone the process later.

But we won't be selling different covers.

I'll post the .ai/.psd/.png/.jpg template later in Feb.

Awesome, thanks. Looking forward to it, although I'll have to get someone else to design the artwork for me. I'm not that great with Photoshop etc...

Will there be a friend of Markman discount? ;)Will the PS3 version of the tournament stick have built in bluetooth or will it need some sort usb dongle? One more question do you know Street Fighter 4 PC specsand will it run on low end PCs?

Question for Markman

I currently have the Soul Calibur 4 arcade stick for PS3. I plan on getting the SF4 Arcade sticks (not the Tournament Edition one since it's a bit too expensive for me right now) for both 360 and PS3. How much of an upgrade will the SF4 Arcade stick be over the Soul Calibur 4 one (I noticed in your ranking article, you gave the SF4 Arcade stick a B+ and the PS3 SC4 stick a C, so I'm curious as to the differences in quality)

So I take it now I just have to download photoshop, figure out how to get that album cover to fit on it, and take it all to kinko's to get printed?

Finding someone to do that is easier said, esp. since I can't get my srk account to work.

How am I going to account for those stupid metal bolts?

EDIT: I see, I just cut little holes for them. Sometimes it's a good idea to take a second and think.

That's crazy! And I completely agree, weezer is ass now.

My weezer arcade stick, however, is going to be the opposite of ass.

Unless the opposite of ass isn't tits.

So does yellow bubbletop, black punch row, white kick row sound good?

You would think that the genitals are on the horizontally opposing the ass.. and the neck would be vertically opposing it.
Alright, I'll have to do it over the next few days, I don't have time today or tomorrow unfortunately.
Thanks, no rush, just debating now between the pad or stick, the TE is just out of my price range (unless I win the lotto or get a new job) within the next month).

Are the regular SF4 sticks going to be moddable like the Tournament Edition ones? I really like the Bat type sticks (If that's what they're called) so I wouldn't mind sticking one of those in at some point once I get mine

I called the local gamestops a couple of hours ago and was told they no longer take pre-orders on the TE stick. I really wanted one too, I just hope the $80 one is good and similar to the Tekken 5 stick on ps2.

I have a feeling that we'll be seeing the sticks on ebay for retail or even less about a month after the release. Yeah, the pre-orders have sold out, but you have to figure about a zillion of those were bought to re sale.

I'm not so sure about that. Unless MadCatz releases a second shipment, I think that those units that were bought for reselling will be sold for over retail and then that's it. It's not like the Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle. That had 10,000 units and remained in stock for months and months after release. This has been sold out on pre-order. And it's no coincidence that it happened during CES. People were waiting on the exclusive coverage of the Madcatz sticks before committing to purchase.

But regardless, I hope you're right. Then I can grab a 360 TE stick later on.

Called my local gamestop, they told me they were taking pre-orders till tonight
I also asked whether they'd be getting any more in and he said that was unlikely

Hurry up and order your sticks people!

Posted this over in the wrong thread earlier, but here goes.

I'm debating my arcade stick options for this gen, I have the Hori Tekken 5 one currently, and i'm wondering if i should just get the AntCommando PS2 to PS3 converter (not paying what the Pelican one goes for), or upgrade to maybe the HRAP3 or even the SF Tournament Edition one.

Is the HRAP3 a huge upgrade over the Tekken 5 controller?

Also, figured I would add that i'm not really great at fighting games, but play a good amount of them and the Dualshock is really not cutting it for HD Remix to me (missing fireball and dragon punch motions like 30 percent of the time is no good). But I would get a good amount of use out of a new stick between HD Remix, SF4, SC4 and Tekken 6

Don't get the Ant Commandos. Contact laugh on SRK and get an inPin. MUCH better converter.

The HRAP3 is a huge upgrade over the T5 IMO.

Oh, if anyone missed the last day of Gamestop orders, the Barnes & Noble preorder via Gamestop was still up last i checked if any of you wanted to give that a try (I imagine a lot of the slickdeals guys didnt re-order after the price was corrected)

that vid is pretty crazy haha. didn't madcatz have a press one sheet with like all the specs and frequently asked questions? that dude is going to town with the tape measure. :p

dunno if i didn't notice this in the ps3 te stick pics but this 360 te seems to have an extra pcb and the cable management seems to be placed differently. i'm guessing it has something to do with the headset but that pcb looks pretty big.

haha if i was there i'd be asking random questions like

1. why have an ergonomic slant to the regular fight stick and not for the te? (is that an ergonomic slant? :p)
2. are there breakaway cables like found on 360 peripherals for the ps3 sticks?
3. will madcatz make a standard or te fight stick without the sf/capcom license?
4. how many regular edition fight sticks/pads are being made since we know the te has an initial release of 3000.
5. what brand microswitches are in the standard fight stick buttons/lever? (insides would've been nice)
6. do the pads have rumble?
7. is the metal baseplate grounded like the vshg and hori doa sticks? (helps against carpet static)
8. what are the bumper buttons designated as since basically r1 (which would typically be the right bumper) is already on the face? do they just say l1, l2?
9. is the ps3 fight pad pcb common ground? (easier to make wireless ps3 sticks)
10. does markman do better pr work than the people in madcatz's pr department?

all the vids and previews are like the same. fools need to do some in depth reporting. :p

Great Questions, I myself am wondering about the connection reliability of the wireless PS3 pad?

I've been reading through all 15 pages, and I think I know the answers to my questions, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Even though the TE stick is my overwhelming preference, the price is a little steep for me. Since I'm not a 'tournament level' player, but enjoy fighters quite a bit, would the HRAP3 for the PS3 be a solid choice?

The $89.99 price point is much more appealing to me than the $149 TE stick. That, and I really like the size of the HRAP3/TE stick over the smaller Fight Stick (that's going for $69.99). Is the TE stick $60 better than the HRAP3?

FWIW, I'd mostly be playing PS2 fighters with SCIV, SFIV, and Tekken 5/6 on my PS3.

Secondly, if I decide to save the $60 buying the HRAP3 and want to change out the buttons down the road, would I swap them for these, or these?

Thanks, this has been a very informative thread. Good work in the SFIV sticks MarkMan...they are drool worthy. :)

Are there any halfway decent PS3->360 controller adapters? Google is filled with news on the 360->PS3 adapter, but I don't see anything on the other way around. Now that I can't change my pre-order on the PS3 TE, I'm looking for a decent alternative to modding.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any true 360 adapters out there. There's this XFPS thing I've heard about... it's designed for using PC keyboards and mice on the 360, but people have managed to chain other controller adapters to it. But I hear it's quite laggy, and at $70 it is certainly more trouble than it's worth.

Maybe someone else can contradict me, but unfortunately I don't believe there are any good options for you that don't involve modding or new sticks :(

:whistle2:( Thanks for the response. Google looks pretty barren of information on the topic. I guess I'm wondering just how hard it would be to actually mod the thing in the end. Microsoft and their dumb licensing issues...

What do you guys think about the SF IV sticks Hori announced they look pretty good and the price seems a little better for those of us who cannot shell out the money for the Madcatz TE.

I wonder if it clicks like the Hori I have for my Wii. It can get a bit annoying when you play Tatsunoko vs Capcom for hours ;)

The 360 stick is the same old shit that hori's been releasing over and over and over.

I do think its kind of crap that the pos hori comes with character move cards and the TE doesn't...
