CAG Arcade Stick Thread

I adore the art on the Standard stick. If I didn't have art in the making (love you rero) I would totally use it.

I kinda regret not waiting and getting it instead of my HRAP3, but it would have been roughly the same price after mods on both so it's not a big deal.
i LOL'd at the review btw.

but yea, I personally, wouldn't trust their 'review'

lol
They didn't even like the Dpad on the SFIV pads.

And I do like the art on the reg stick. Markman, hook us up with a bigger image so I can stick it on my TE stick, please. :)

MarkMan, if(and that's a big 'if') the rumors of the TE stick going back into production are true, would I still have a chance to get one if I didn't pre-order already or would I have to resort to resellers/scalpers?

Another plug comes from 1up Street Fighter 4 streamed segment.Richard Li and his friends from shoryuken.com.Its brief plug.

My apologies if the topic has come and gone, but I seem to remember discussion about a SF4 stick/game package deal, before any of the controller SKU's were decided on.

With the game almost a month out, I assume that isn't happening? (Either that....or I missed it.)

I don't normally "plug" my CAG blog, but I'd like some feedback on this one. I list all the components that will be going into my joystick mod. If you've got any suggestions, or if it looks like I've missed anything, please share your thoughts in the Comments section. :D Check it out right here!

dido.

Another question. Did Madcatz' numbers get fucked up at all due to all the Barns and Noble per-orders/cancels price mistake? Is that why Gamestop stop taking per-orders or did they really sell out of the 3000?

From what I read, which may be totally false. TE preorder were 6 times that of the intended production amount.
18,000 people out there want to drop $150 on an arcade stick? Bullshit.
In all honesty, I think this is one case where I'd believe it. The praise is seemingly never-ending. I wanted one myself, but my budget wouldn't allow it.:cry::cry:

i'm actually curious about the standard stick. i've always wanted to build my own and those norris sticks look interesting, but on the other hand time is precious and if the standard stick is good i'd just get that instead.

Better than a macro'd game. *ahem*CvS2:EO*ahem*

Yeah but it's not like anyone played that version anyway.

I just don't like the idea of someone playing online with a joystick like that.
Should be getting a review stick in from those XCM guys. Let's hope its not too bad lol.

Looks easy to mod though!

*looks*
Are they also sending you a review 360->ps3 converter?
Yeah but it's not like anyone played that version anyway.
HEY! I PLAY THAT VERSION!
:lol::lol::lol:
But not the E.O. style, I'm all about the A.C.;)

Well, NAS are going to restock soon (Sunday Jan 18).

I'm going to go for their Original DIY and stain it ebony. I just hope they dont sell out before I check out. Join their mailing list if you're interested in buying one and want to know the exact time they restock.

I am getting my grandfather to help build me a box. It won't be like NAS but at least I'll have something, and it'll save $60. Ebony stain is a very interesting idea... I want to decided on what kind of art I want on it first though.

In the mean time of building the box and waiting for parts I'm going to finish up my FS3 mod. I got the art finished to an extent, there might be some tweaks, I also want to know what you guys think.

SFW, spoilered because its 900px wide. Original PSD is over 3000 or so. Theres not much room on the FS3 but I'm pleased. Any ideas? Right now I just need to apply another coat of paint of to the box.

I would ditch the 2 buttons on the right. That layout sucks.

You know MarkMan.. I got lots of respect for you. You got a job with a company where you can make a difference in the community you care about. And now, with your stick, you're helping inject new life into that very same community. I knew that the stick was gonna sell out quickly.. it's a very high-end niche item with a competitive price tag, of course people are gonna snatch it up. Good looking out dude..

No.. I'm not drunk.
I know. But that layout sucks and he is changing the artwork, so...
Yeah, I agree. I want to plug the buttons on my HRAP3, but I'm waiting on my art before I order the buttons and such.

Is it plausible that I could mod it with the sanwas and ebay it for the cost of the TE stick next month? I don't plan on it, but you never know.

Yeah, the far right buttons are hard to reach for me unless my arms are straight out in front of me. I really dont use them at all ever since I shifted the buttons left and set those far right ones as L1 and L2.

Friend of Markman discount would be nice.;)

My newest stick is a mod of the Hori Fighting Stick EX2 for Xbox 360, AKA the Soul Calibur 4/VF5 stick. I used this guide, replacing the stick's microswitches with Cherries and switching it to a Sanwa octagonal gate. All the main buttons are Seimitsus, as is the new balltop. The hardest part of this mod was removing the c-clip from the joystick. That took forever!
Interestingly, the top has only 4 action buttons, with the triggers moved off to the side of the stick. Unfortunately we found it too easy to hit those side buttons by mistake, so we installed small toggle switches on the back. The stick's original Start button never worked (argh) so we installed a new Start button on the back. My girlfriend chose the artwork and colors and helped me do some of the modifications.

I made up my mind this week and got my HRAP3 from Amazon yesterday and it's a very nice stick. The buttons are fine (I'll replace them with some Seimitsu or Sanwa later this year) and it's a great stick for $90. Highly recommended.

I've been doing the practice mode for SFII HD Remix and still have some more practicing to do until I can nail a fireball or a dragon punch consistently. Overall, I think its a great deal for anyone wanting a stick for the PS3. I looked into building my own but it was still going be more expensive than the HRAP3 (given the 'create your own stick had Sanwa/Seimitsu everything...).

Great stick for not the most money in the world. I saved enough on the stick to afford the pre-order on SFIV. Thanks again for all the great information on this thread.

I'm not making a new top for the box. I am just going to glue that over top of the metal. I have plugs for the far right holes.

a macro stick allows you to surpass human limitations allowing a person to truly break a game's design and do crazy stuff.

it's impractical in competition, but they have their place in exhibition

What if combos and super commands were input via a single button? You don't think that creates an unfair advantage for a player? I just don't see how, if it works the way it is supposed to, it is impractical for competition.

like I said, macro sticks are for exhibition and combo video purposes.

in tournaments, they have been banned since the days of cavemen

I understand that, but it's not like their is a governing body during online play.

I just watched the video with Seth Killian from the 14th and man... that stick has new surprises every time I see it. He said it was like $129 instead of 150 though, so I dunno... now I'm slightly more tempted to reconsider.

ahh online play. never mind then lol...

anyway, the hits dont stop!!!

my stick is done! done I say! finally!!

not really done actually... I still needa cut out and attach a bottom panel...

but I tested it out and got a couple wins on HDRemix! it's good! the only thing I havent tested out is voice chat coz the room I was in had it disabled I think...

my main problem with it tho is that the buttons and stick are way too close to each other, I feel very cramped unfortunately, but I can still play well.

anyway, pics tomorrow.
