you should have seen the retarded prices people were asking for import fighters at animeboston last weekend.


Anyway, so what is SNK developing on now that Atomiswave is out the door?
 
LB 1+2 is really weird...I don't know if it's my copy but the sprites are kinda "flickery." Tossed it, i;d rather play it on mame.

Garou is just about perfect

Samurai Shodown Tenkaichi is insane. there are a million characters, a bunch of styles for each...I really need to sit down with a translation guide and figure out what everything is.
 
All the compliations have been great so far except for Last Blade. I don't understand why or how they screwed that one up. It just sucks importing these games for the prices because we can't play them online like they are meant to be played. Most of these are rereleases with added online play. I don't midn importing new stuff, like new KOF games etc. but rereleases suck because we cant use the game to the fullest.

The most aggravating thing about Last Blade Collection is that the game was delayed for half a year. It was originally scheduled to come out in June last year and it got pushed back until January... and it was still screwed up.

Really disappointing considering that the Last Blade series is one of the best that the NG saw.

last simester SST got tons of play... I am so unfamiliar with SS I jsut played the momkey most of the time.
 
I also want to play Tenka if only because I never played IV or V so I wanna see how the series has changed. Though in terms of priority, it's lower than KOF XI and NGBC so I dunno when I'll get around to it.
 
I wonder how they botched the LB1+2 ports on the PS2, which is a vastly superior system and shouldn'y choke on an NG game.

speaking of which, "late February" has come and gone: Where the hell is STREET FIGHTER II? (for xbl) :D

I played through the original this morning-- yep, good ol SFII on the Snes. I was testing games for ebay and decided to beat it with Ken. All in all, it was pretty easy...seeing as though most 3 hit combos dizzy and take 2/3rds energy.

fucking Vega...he's still a bitch with that damn jump kick. got a double perfect on Bison though! :hot:

Some questions about the upcoming Street Fighter Alpha Anthology:

1) The games are arcade perfect, correct, and seem to feature the things that were on the original home versions (like survival, practice, etc?) I know there is no World Tour modes, so I'm keeping my SFA 3 for now, but is it safe to assume I can just dump SFA 1 and 2 for the Saturn since Street Fighter Alpha Anthology for PS2 is going to be the definitive version to get?

2) I heard it has five games... SFA 1 - 3, Pocket Fighter... what's the fifth? Is it SFA 2 Gold where it had Cammy in the Vs mode?

Can't wait for this to come out... hits in a week and only for $29.99 to boot.

Does anyone think that the Darkstalkers collection is ever going to come out over here? It would just give me one more reason to dump all my Darkstalkers games on Saturn / Dreamcast and just get this one definitive collection... hell, I might just do it anyways and import it.

and yeah, alpha 2 gold is the fifth. but you unlock even more versions. there's an extra version each of alpha 2, alpha 2 gold, and alpha 3. and then of course there's the new hyper version.

Question about the import of Alpha Anthology:

When playing Arranged SFA3, what are the options that you pick before you pick your ISM? There are like 4 of them, but they are in japanese writing. One is green, one is blue, one is pink and one is red. I know they aren't the secret ISM's because they're only supposed to be in Hyper, so can someone help me out?

Akuma seems like he may fit into the old man catagory since he is so damn mysteriouse... plus he has white hair streaks in SFIII. Plus the fact that Gen and him are rivals.

That's a quite old video I came by a logn ass time ago, but the guys who made it put some good work into it. Though some parts are cheesey, they do a good job of making it look alot like tekken... props to them for adding the special splash effects when blocking.

Yeah, it sold pretty horribly in Japan, and there's even less of a market for it here, so it'd be stupid to do so.

as far as i know, I need:
--VF4 regular
--T4
--Bloody roar 3 + 4 (just realized how funny that name sounds..)
--MvC 2 (u.s. release)
--Capcom Fighting Evolution
--Soul Calibur 3
--DoA2 hardcore

am i missing anything there?

Yea, you're not missing anything at all with the fighters you're missing, except maybe SC 3. Seriously, don't waste the cash on stuff like CFE or regular VF 4.

Thanks for reminding me I need to pick up CvS 2 and sell my DC version, though.

Yea, that is true. I might just buy one off of Ebay once I get around to selling a ton of my shit, since no GS in a billion mile radius has one.

To think, I used to have a copy and sold it, but now I'm selling most of my DC collection and I might as well go all the way.

You're missing Guilty Gear X2, Onimusha Buraiden, Guilty Gear X, Guilty Gear Isuka, all of the Dragon Ball Z games, KOF: MI, Gundam: Federation Vs. Zeon, Gundam: Zeonic Front, some Gundam SEED game, Street Fighter EX 3, Fighter Maker 2, and all of the Mortal Kombats... though I don't think those qualify as games let alone fighting games.
 
there's one near me with no instructions and the clerk says the disc is scratched. $60 is hard to swallow but if I can get a B2G1 on it with Zelda Collectors edition and something ebay-able, I can cover it.
 
You know Apossum, you were right in your other thread, that the Dreamcast is obsolete... almost every fighter / shmup is available in some form on some other system, as well as a ton of other awesome games for it.

The Saturn is heading in the same direction I believe.

I know this is a bit off topic, but since there are alot of knowledgable import people here... does anyone know if Twinkle Star Sprites was released on Playstation 2? I know they are making a remake, but I can't find word on if the original was on ps2 as well.

I know it's for saturn / dreamcast, but I'd like to get rid of my DC one if possible and go for the PS2 version.
 
you guys have convinced me...after SC3 (which i'll get when i can find it for $10) I don't really need anything else. besides SFA:Anthology of course.

Heads up--- my Korean MvC2 is up for trade. got super lucky today and got the NTSC version almost for free in a very roundabout way. but now I need instructions for it >_<

Roufuss-- yeah, there are a few games that still stand out for both of them (almost worth owning a system for Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes or Project Justice alone) but it seems like the fighting game slack was taken up by the PS2 (at least in Japan...argh)
