Last year, CAGs raised over $49,000 for Penny Arcade's Child's Play charity. This year, I'm setting the target at $50,000.

For every $5 donated via PayPal through the CAG ChipIn system, you will receive one entry into a raffle to win 1 of 2 $500 Amazon gift cards and other great prizes. Every year, the CAG Community donates some really cool and generous prizes and I expect to get some corporate donations too. I expect the prize list to grow and grow until the very end of the fundraiser.

You must donate through the ChipIn system by 12/31/11 or your raffle entry will not register. Just click the "ChipIn" button to donate. Donations are accepted via PayPal and go directly to Child's Play. ChipIn tracks our donations as a group, but the money is immediately deposited into Child's Play's PayPal account and never passes through CAG in any way.

Donated $100. For the past few years, I've donated based on how much CAG has saved me. I cut back on my spending this year, and was going to cut back on my donation too. But then I realized that sick kids don't need any less games this year just because I'm spending less.
 
Seems like a lot of people are thinking, hey this site saves me $$$, let me donate to help some sick kids.

I still remember when the ECA said we were all scumbags for trying to save some money on video games from Amazon.
 
Just made what's probably my last financial donations of the year -- another few bucks to Child's Play, and a few to the local homeless shelter. My girlfriend and I are scheduled to donate blood in a few weeks, so I'm not quite done giving yet :D

Very awesome that you organize this each year, Cheapy.

Just thought about the way a child's face will light up from my donation. It is a much better feeling than spending that money on another backlog-destined game for myself.

I hope other CAGs have the means to donate, too.
 
I just pledged $20, thanks CheapyD for the website and for organizing a great fund raiser! This website has definitely saved me lots of money!!
 
To those wanting to donate, but are tight on money here's a small tip that I do.

Take a week/month and decide not to eat out at all. To make sure you don't fall into eating out due to just being hungry, buy 3 or 4 snacks you keep specifically in your vehicles for when you are hungry. Things like the medium size bags of chips/chexmix/cheezits etc, some granola bars, snack pack or anything like that (think what you could pack in a lunch for a kid).

You don't need a full meal in your car, just enough to snack on to curb your appetite until you get home and have the meal.

Then donate the extra money you save to child's play. You'll be amazed at how much you spend on fast food and how quickly it adds up.

I do this with charities. I don't consider myself to eat out that much, but I can easily get $25-$50 or more a month for our family of 4 to just not eat out. $4 at McDs doesn't sound like much until you start replacing that with $1-$2 home cooked meals.

Kicked in $10, with all the money that CAG has saved me over the year - I wish I could donate more... Well, we'll see what the coming weeks bring as far as commission. Maybe I'll have an opportunity to donate more...

You don't have to send the games anywhere-- not right now, anyway. How it works is that once the raffle is over, you contact the person listed as the winner to tell them they've won, and ask where to ship their prize to. It's sort of like CAG Trading in that respect, in that you're dealing with the winners directly. Hope this makes sense :)

Also, Cheapy will most likely PM you once he's added your prize donation to the list.

Speaking of which, submitted my own prize donation yesterday - it's a set of rare Halo goodies from Halo Fest. This is the third time I've donated prizes to the raffle; it's one of my favorite events at CAG :)

Are we allowed to donate non-game related things? I have a Dragonball Z action figure and a set of Monster cables (both unopened) I'm willing to add to the list.

Yes. Those are general items a CAGer would like. Previously people have donated some pretty weird stuff.
 
Chipped in $20. It's not a lot but hopefully I can do more later. Paypal saved my old apartment address for my shipping address for some reason, which I thought odd.
 
I'm trying to donate but just get errors... when I try to use my paypal it says "Email: Please enter a valid email address. UTF-8 email addresses are not currently supported. Emails must be in the format: [email protected]" My email is correct when I put it in but then when I hit submit it changes it to zacharyv%40gmail.com

So then I decide to put in my CC with out paypal and it says this credit card information can't be used with this type of transaction.. I tried 2 different cards (Amex and Visa)

Tried 2 different browsers... Anyone know how to fix this?
