For the first race, it should be any of the small Loti derivatives, as suggested by Phase... Elise, Vauxhaul VX, or Opel Speedster. I'd like to avoid the Tesla and the Lotus Evora. They both have a huge power advantage over the Elise's and the Evora is actually built on a different frame, so it doesn't really count anyhow. ;)

For the last race, any of the WRC recommended cars should be fine. Don't bother buying one, we'll be using the recommendeds. If you want to practice with the recommendeds, go to Community, select your Lobby, Join it, set the track and then go to the garage and click the recommended tab. There will be three WRC cars sitting there waiting for you. They're all within two points of each other, so it doesn't really matter which one you pick. I highly suggest you turn off all traction assists... You'll probably get a much better time if you can take the turns sideways. It's a rally track, you're supposed to slide! There will be a lot of bumping and banging in this one. While it would be appreciated if you don't deliberately put anyone into a wall, expect to be door-to-door on most of the turns.

Curses, I missed testing! Ive built up a Tesla, so Ill see how close I can get to your times tomorrow.

Thanks for the effort Smthng, I understand if you have a score to settle. I actually found 4.5 seconds by tuning the suspension on the Mini so I am fine with running Eiger as normal. Ill still be off pace as Im running 1:14s, but like last time, Ill be on your heels in case you make any errors.

Also, next time you get a chance, run The Ring periphery and compare it to the one we usually run (north?). You all are right, it is a bit longer, but I think it may actually be faster because it has more high speed turns and a long straight.

Finally, Id prefer a level 21 ticket as I have bad luck with the 1000 tickets. If you want to go ahead an gift, Ill return the favor next time Im on.

Hang on to that Mini... I'm sure we'll run them again.

Lvl 21 should be in your mailbox. A list of possible cars from it is here: http://www.mygranturismo.net/carlist.php?level=21
No need to return the favor unless you have a card for the following:
Audi LeMans Quatro '03, CLK-LM Race Car '98, or the GT Academy version of the GTR Spec-V '09. If you do, DO NOT REQUEST DELIVERY! They are gold!!! Those are three that I don't mind spending the time to duplicate to fill my collection (they're the only ticket cars left that I need). ;)

If I get the time tomorrow or saturday, I'll jump on and run the Tesla with you. Not sure how that's gonna work out though, as I'll have to fight for a TV (at relatives place this weekend). If not, I'll build one and check it, but I'm pretty sure it's going to crush the Elises going up those hills. Remember to test the track on the reverse config, it makes a huge difference.

I just added a 210HP max for the Lotus race. Still race your Tesla's (I have one too, might jump on if someone posts a time) but I would like to see where we can get a good balance between the cars to have some variety.

You are right about the Evora, I was actually thinking of the Europa, which isn't in the game. As for the Tesla, it looks like it has a lot of HP, but its also running off of an inverted power curve and a single gear, so at the same PP I don't think the power will matter much. At 475PP, Im running 1:09s at my best on Eiger Forward and Reverse, so it should close. On reverse I am closer to 1:10 but I imagine part of that is just unfamiliarity.

@Syn - I just saw your post. My exact times in the Tesla were 1:19.782 on Reverse and 1:19.133 on Forward, if you want to check you set-up. I think you can break into the 1:18 with slightly better tuning on the back-end as the Tesla's tail happy nature could bring it around faster on some of the tighter curves. I tried, but couldn't get a good lap because its weight distribution, which gives it the tail happy nature, makes it really unstable with too much oversteer in the suspension.

I may be available tonight for about an hour from 5:45PM PST and Ill have to get back to you about tomorrow. Ill be up for F1 Qualy on Saturday morning, so if you want to run right after that I should be free.

Also, I don't know how well it will work, but I shared my modded Tesla online, so you may be able to run it yourself in the meantime.

I just re-tuned one of my Lotus' from 450pp to 475pp, and I'm averaging 1:07.5. I also borrowed the Tesla from TctclMvPhase and managed around 1:09 flat. I like the idea of the HP limit but the Tesla should be exempt.

Pretty goodchance I won't make it tonight. :whistle2:( if I can get back to my in laws in time, i`ll be there, but its not likely. :whistle2:(

Not that it needs to be mentioned but I'm dreadfully addicted to Disgaea 4 and it looks to continue that way for quite some time.

I might have had an unfair advantage in the Lotus race. When you lifted the HP max I found I had an almost totally upgraded Lotus that I massively reduced power on using the engine power limiter

That's really one aspect that I can't stand. You can completely max out your HP and drop it down to 50% output but retain 90% of your torque rating. It's really broken in that it can make or break an otherwise close race of similarly specced cars if it's the only overpowered & downtweaked car on the track.

As long as the DLC is ~$10 I'm in...anything more and it'll have to go on the back-burner as there is just way too much coming out around then.

Ill probably buy it regardless. Even with all the racing games I play, GT5 is the only one I really go back to on a regular basis. I'd like new tracks but I am most jealous of Forza's Jalopnik car packs. I'd even settle for new events that use more of the tracks in the game, but not the same tracks that get used over and over again.

We actually didn't do the rally track. None of us were really looking forward to it so we decided to wait until you could race with us to endure such madness :D
Red Bull X2010s For All if Vettel Wins 2011 F1 Championship
Isn't Vettel over 100 points ahead of second place?

Looks like free X2010's for everyone.

I don't follow F1 much, but I saw one race with one thing I did not like(please correct me if I'm wrong)

Vettel was leading and his teammate(Webber?) was in second late in the race. Webber was gaining on him quickly and could have possibly passed and beaten Vettel on the last lap. Instead of letting this happen his crew got on the radio and told him to back off and let Vettel win.

Now I think I understand the logic, you don't want two teammates fighting on the last lap where they can both wreck each other, but it seemed more like they were protecting Vettel to ensure he gets as many points as he can.

Correct. Webber was closing and actually ignored the crew chief. He made a charge on the last lap but botched a turn and couldn't close in. He's the "#2" driver sadly, so naturally with Vettel leading they didn't want to risk taking out both cars. One of the reason's I can't believe they OK'd team orders this year...fucking Bernie.

Not only that, but he only needs to win one more point over the second place runner, Jenson Button, and he will have clinched the title. This basically means if he finishes anywhere ahead of Button in the next six races hes won.

So yeah, basically we are all getting X2010s. Maybe we can finally race them!
I got one from the vettel challenge getting bronze. Besides the free one that's most likely the only one I'll ever get
If you run through B-type, the game also gives you one when you hit level 35. Unfortunately, they are all the same version and not the cool prototype or color ones.

As for a race, I would suggest route 7 or high speed ring, as the handling takes some getting used to. If anyone wants to start practicing, I can share one of mine tonight. As the next GP isn't until next weekend, it should be at least two weeks before we can get around to running them.

anyone try out the 3D? If so do you have any recommended settings. I tried it out last night, it was pretty good.. but I think that it may be better if I could get the right settings.

Excellent! So, we'll be doing that tonight, eh? ;)
anyone try out the 3D?
I've used it a few times, but I don't feel it adds anything, so I stopped using it. It's not enough of a "wow" that I want to have it on all the time and it doesn't make seeing the course any easier. I also found it to be incredibly bad on some of the night tracks. I should probably check it out on a snow course.

For a second I thought you were trolling me and just reposting your previous post. Had to look twice and LOL at myself.

I'm going to pass on the races, I'm a little too angry and I'm probably better off not being competitive the rest of the day. Especially with how I feel about boost.

Do you remember if this is the same points we used for the last muscle car races? If so, I don't have to carve out time to build another. No big deal either way, would just be helpful to know.

I honestly can't remember. I want to say it's close, but I usually jump on at 8:40 anyway, to make some modifications and then throw the room up.

I just realized that I can scroll back as well as anyone. ;) Last time we had an American Muscle race, it was 500PP on Laguna Seca. No biggie, it won't take much to bring one of mine up to 600. Catch you in an hour or so!

Syn- Way to keep the sunday night GT5 racing alive. Unfortunately the project that I am working on is on a much needed time crunch, so I can't make it tonight or even the next 2-3 weeks.

Until then, keep up the racing!

I submit exhibit A...
