CAG Gran Turismo 5 [CAG Race Night - Now Sundays at 6PM PST!]

I'm sorry I havent been too active here. Work has been time consuming.

I might be able to get back into next week, but my schedule changes alot.

It is good you guys are still racing!

I honestly didn't mean to hit you in the last race Mad. the braking line backtracked as I entered the turn and at that point I was probably a bit too tired to be racing. Had a blast with the RX-7 though :D

Don't worry about hitting him, he likes it a bit rough...well, that's what the Russian Strippers were saying anyway.....

It and I weren't performing optimally and I don't think you're used to driving that track in the right direction. The RX-7s were about orgasmic as they come, I really want to own one for real one day.

Something is lost in the translation and the driver tends to get abused and beaten before he's allowed to race.

So, I know last night was fun and all, but isn't tonight the official race night? Are we on? I can actually be on time tonight! :)

I'll be on. I don't think we've agreed on a new night yet so I'll definitely be on.

EDIT: I just put the room up.

I have to say, that was made of awesome! Even the go-cart race. :) It would have probably been way better with more peeps, but they were all excellent races. Sorry about the extra 4000 lbs... and the sand. :whistle2:S

Yeah since there were only 3 of us, its not worth making a blog post about, but I have to say if you have a spare few minutes, watch the replays of the Tokyo R246 and Le Mans races. The first three races were crazy rule sets and trying to keep the car on the track in the right direction.

I have to say, I was literally shaking after pulling off that last corner pass to win the Tokyo race.

Sorry about the draft and cutting across both of you on that last lap. I finished last at least but I easily had an extra 10 MPH over you both going into that turn. Was hoping you guys would break a bit late but clearly that didn't happen :p We should definitely add the Calas...skyline to our rotation.

Sorry I havent updated the topic. People have been getting sick at work, so that means I have cover their shift (which has been on tuesday nights).

I work next tuesday, but I'll be off by 9pm PST so mark me late for that race.

If everyone wants a race that night (jan 18th) Then I will update the 1st and 2nd post.

I totally screwed the pooch on that last one at Tokyo. Honestly, I was surprised I managed to hold the lead even that long. ;)

For those that missed it, all the races were excellent, but some in different ways than others.

I hate the karts, but even that was fun. I was amazed that SynGamer didn't just kick the hell out of us on that!

The LeMans race was a blast, but watching the replay was a little disheartening. What started as this...

...became this...

...which rapidly turned into this lovely scene...

While I deny any responsibility for MisterBee following us into that mess, I'm pretty sure I caused both myself and SynGamer to end up there. That wasn't my only mess up either! I had numerous "bonehead maneuvers" in that race. That car needs a lot of tuning before I can be considered safe in it. ;) Speaking of which, if it makes any difference at all, I don't mind taking a loss on that race. I screwed both of you pretty hard a couple times. :S It was still serious fun! :)

So... someone needs to pick an official game night that works for most of us. I'll start the ball rolling. For me Fridays are out, Saturdays and Thursdays aren't great but I might be able to make them. Anything else is cool by me.

I tried to tell Syn he would want one after I loaned it to him....the Citroën C4 WRC ‘08 is the best handling car that I've driven yet. I forget if that Bonus Race was on Trial Mountain or Deep Forest.....either way, that thing was $800k car is a little crazy as a requirement. However, if you get the chance, get it....you will not regret it....just get (at least) the racing intermediate tires.

Just trying to gauge interest for a quick set of 3 races for Sunday(tomorrow) night? 9 or 10 pm EST.

I'm thinking Z4 03', RX-7s(non racing ones) and I'll take a suggestions for a third race as I'm currently drawing blanks.

Z4 '03 315 Max hp, mods allowed, Sports Soft Tires - Tsukuba Circuit
RX-7('93 to '02) 305 Max hp, mods allowed, 1200 weight limit, Sports Soft Tires, non-tuner RX-7s only - Clubman Stage 5 Night
I'm hoping somebody has a suggestion for this race. I've got to go out on a call now and won't be back for a couple of hours.

I'll be on after walking my dog, maybe it'll just be those two races. Go figure. Anybody who doesn't have an RX-7 can use the one available online, it's got 297 HP. Starting at 10 we are.
Just put the room up for anyone that gets on early.
I just did. Got myself all settled in and the room is up. I'll be in My Lounge.

Good racing. Well, I did miss the majority of it. I don't mind winning the races you guys are messing around with. i need the credits. And I get to drive cars above my wallet.

i couldn't connect earlier due to network problems. i tried to change my router settings to nat 2 from 3. i opened the following ports:
tcp - 80, 443, 10070, 10080, 5223
udp - 10070, 3478, 3479, 3658

nothing changed. any advice?

Are you wired or wireless? It makes a difference to be wired. Also what kind of internet do you have?

If everyone is cool with it, I set the next race date Jan 25th.

Get off the wireless if you can. The problem you are most likely having is latency between your PS3 and you wireless router. The lower the percent signal, the less packets that can be sent (your Mbps speed). Anything less than 54 Mbps is just not fast enough for online gaming.

GT5 is a network hog. Try it wired, or try to bring the router closer to the ps3.

My only complaint about the racing is some people need to get a mic set up. Aggressive hard contacts should have some explanation other than silence. That and being able to communicate with everybody, since GT5's voice chat is phenomenal, is just tons more fun.

Also agreed on the mic. It's kind of a neccessity. BTW, I remember someone complaining about the wireless and looking for a wired headset. I'm sure there's better ones out there, but it's hard to argue with the $20 price of the Rocketfish Wired Headset at Best Buy... Links here haven't been working for me, so just search Best Buy's site for "Rocketfish Headset PS3", it'll pop right up. My local store had about 50 of them.

Oh yeah... I could use the Citroen C4 that someone loaned to SynGamer. I've got the rest of the cars available for the soon-to-expire seasonal event (race 3, I think), but I really don't want to fork out for that puppy if I can help it. I don't know if the "share with friends" option works for seasonal events, but mine are all out there if it does. If it doesn't, just PM me and I'll loan one to anyone I've raced with previously (you'll have to remove some of the tuning stuff for the RX7 to get it back under the HP limit).

Syn deciding to dub step in a Calsonic Skyline on Tokyo, aka toke-yo depending on how much he smoked before deciding to pull this one out of his ass.
That car that is right below him? That's me laughing my ass off because he hit the tires so hard he lifted his rear up and over the front of my car and kept on spinning.
From smthng's point of view.
If you click the pictures, it's a link for my file hosting for the full res picture not tweaked by photobucket.

Sexy. I'll definitely get on the PS3 sometime and get some shots from the races.

Going to try to make next Sunday. Just closed our bonus races 4 tonight...fun....need mad or anyone else for a little borderlands in the future as well.

were you guys talking in the races when I was around? I couldn't hear any voice. GT5 does mention that voice will be cut from Nat3, me.

HAHAHAHA, we were specifically trying to talk to you. Now we know you couldn't hear us.

Check your ports and maybe try to port forward. Online gaming on NAT3 is a big no no. Try to configure to NAT2 if you can.

Yes, there was an awful lot of communication on those two races, including the one you started. I figured you weren't receiving voice chat so I messaged you to get out of the race. All of the pick up races that we do on the fly are directed via voice chat unless we do a one-make race off the recommended car list. Other than that you didn't really do anything bothersome, we were just dicking around those last two races.

I have enough bandwidth to probably play a concert in high quality over the mic, voice chat is not an issue whatsoever on my end when I'm hosting.

I know that we're run races recently on Tuesday and on a Sunday... Is anyone running anything, or is GT5 night dieing?

I was going to offer last night to host a set of races for tonight but the Jets/Steelers game was on tonight and just wrapped up. I may have something for Wednesday as my Monday looks to be booked and Tuesday will give me a better idea for Wednesday.

I'm 50/50 on anything tonight...depends if I get DS2 and what the toddler reading backlog is. I think "officially" we should drop it to 3 races and let everyone continue after that if they want to. 5 races gets too long with too much waiting.

I have yet to see anything posted for tonight as far as races and/or cars....could've missed it, but I checked back to page 17....not saying I can read, so feel free to enlighten me....

IF I'm on tonight, it will only be for a few short races. I have to pull an 11 today, tomorrow, and then a 12 Thursday so I won't be staying on late. That said, whatever the races are, I'm looking forward to some fun tonight.

I will not be attending even if I'm online. I've got to be up at 5 am and I'm going to indulge in some mindless ackshun that is Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. Not to mention I've done enough driving these past two days to last me into next week. Tomorrow is going to be no good for me either.

I only put up a date a few weeks back to get some looks at this thread. We should plan for an official race again. I'm pretty much in the same boat as everyone else. Work, backlog and other things are currently piling up.

I should be up for some races... I figure we can pick a couple tracks and a couple recommended cars (and maybe a few shared) so no one has to scramble to get something competitive at the last minute.

Wife commandeered the PS for a movie... should be on around 10:30.

Update: Looks like it's just me, so I'm gonna bail too. Setting up the Bob's for some career building, then I'm off to sleep. Next time!

"We're sitting in the middle of a snow storm and they're telling us it's not snowing. Open a fucking window!"
The weather people suffered an epic fail in NYC. Failure to predict snow as it was falling. I spent roughly an extra 3 hours today just driving carefully in this crap. I wasn't going to even come close to making it.

Just got home from work. Getting food, probably won't be on tonight, though I thought we changed the nights to a different day anyway? :)
