CAG GTAIV Night: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel[ 9/2 @ 10pm EST ]

Remember, there's mid-week GTA tomorrow night! I'm planning to host a game at 10E/7P, but if someone wants to get it started earlier, that's fine.

Word of advice though.....if we do a deathmatch game, be prepared to be run over by me, since that's about the only way I usually get kills anymore. But hey, no one ever said that deathmatch had to be played ONLY with guns, right?;)

Also, can I suggest turning auto aim off for DM/Team DM? It makes it a bit more challenging and doesn't turn it into a respawnfest, where people are dying/respawning every 30 seconds.

BTW, can we get the CAG names put next to the PSN names, since they're not always the same and most of the time I don't remember who I'm playing against. I've deleted many from my PSN friends list lately, but most of them were people who I met in one game and haven't played against lately.

I'll try a few rounds with AA off. Anyone else have strong feelings about AA in general?

Also let me know if there are any specific modes people want to do.

I'll be on tonight! No mode preferences here, Metaly...I'll happily play anything.

I like auto-aim, primarily because I can't hit the broad side of a barn without it.

I'm willing to play without if others have strongly-held opinions on it, though.

I'm the same way actually, but with auto aim off I've switched my tactic to using hit and runs to score kills in deathmatch modes.

It's alot easier than having to try and line up a shot or two, that's for sure.

Plus, with auto aim ON, the deaths happen quicker and it gets frustrating having to respawn after every minute or so of gameplay.

We could always do a bit of 'car jousting' in deathmatch mode, where two players each grab a car and use ONLY the original weapon you're supplied with when you spawn and drive toward one another at full speed firing wildly trying to score a kill.

That was my tactic last night in Team Deathmatch. Of course, it's ALOT more fun if both have grenades. :D

We should definitely do some car jousting with pistols. I'll put one of the DMs in Algonquin so we have some nice, long streets.

I really wish you could shoot the rocket launcher from a car. At least the passenger should be able to.

That would be interesting, to say the least, though I think one of the GTA races during the last CAG night someone wiped me out with an RPG right before the finish line. :bomb: I was NOT a happy camper, but I was laughing hysterically right after that. Unfortunately, I didn't even finish that race, since they put me about 3-6 checkpoints back with no car and no cars spawning.

Usually in Free Mode, I'm flying an Annihilator all over LC and people also do jousting with those. There's about a half dozen or more spots(though I've only found three or four of them myself) to get them on the map, with two or three being on Algonquin and the airport(and the one rooftop near there) being the other ones I know.

We end up jousting with the helis as well once 3-5 of us get them and start flying around. It's hilarious once you clip the back end off the other helis, as they just spin in circles in place.

Great games tonight, especially Bomb da Base with randy's epic drive across the city. And thanks everyone for doing the reboot halfway through. The mics really make the game.

I only saw maybe 2 other CAG's when I left last night, which was right after coming in second in that one race that was 90% newbies/non-CAG's. Then I went back to the Team Deathmatch game I was in earlier.

Rebooting just to get the mics working again seems like a major pain in the ass, which is why I'm without one now, until Sony or R* or whoever fixes the damn issue.

But you guys are saying more people showed up last night finally?

Yes they do.

We should make the reboot a regular thing after they cut out. It's a pain in the ass but the 5 minutes it takes to reboot is a good break from the game and well worth it in the end.

We had six people for the last 45 minutes or so. Also I guess the game forgets the private slot settings after finishing a co-op mission, because that's when all those random people showed up. At first I just thought somebody invited a lot of friends.

Yes, rebooting is a pain, but to me it's worth it because half the fun of GTA online is having a laugh over some huge pileup/explosion/car spinning 180 degrees on the freeway. (That reminds me, I think a rain race is in order.) Don't worry though, if you're not using a headset anyway, you don't have to reboot.

Yes. The game is infinitely better with friendly banter and laughs.

Just start issuing a reboot message when they cut out from now on!

LOL...that was the scenic route! Thought you might want to take in some of the local sights. Driving on the sidewalk over the bridge and doing that flip at the end was awesome. ;)

And, yeah...mics make the game complete. They also make me realize that I swear far more than the average person. I'm OK with collective reboots at the 1-hour mark.

I think I had the voice changer set to lower my voice to that of a demon when I still had my headset. I just don't like the sound of my own voice, plus I'm also one who tends to swear alot usually. That and being a cheap sumbitch that thinks over $5 for a headset is a ripoff are my main reasons I won't buy one.

Who else has actually played on a Team Deathmatch game and had a teammate just stand there and let loose with every weapon they have on your damn car, even while you're honking the horn for them to get in? I haven't seen it in the CAG nights, but I've had at least a half dozen instances where I had teammates trying to kill me via friendly fire.

Of course, I promptly return the favor, by revving a car up on their skull later on in the match.

haha, I forgot about the drive over the bridge with the random car exploding for no reason. Then a second later ours burst into flames from rubbing along the guardrail.

You should've been in the one Team Deathmatch I was in the other night. Talk about glitchy. Almost every car in the game was unable to be used, the drivers in them were immortal(you could shoot them 100 times n they wouldn't die) and there were innumerable peds who were stuck in a loop running away from the mayhem.
haha, I forgot about the drive over the bridge with the random car exploding for no reason. Then a second later ours burst into flames from rubbing along the guardrail.
Hahaha. I figured once we were on the sidewalk it would be clear sailing, and then suddenly stuff is exploding and the car is spinning around and on fire. I couldn't have made up a more appropriate end to that drive.

Requesting a deathmatch every 4 games and at least 2 turf wars.
I usually make races 1 lap unless the track is small.

So depending how many people are talking, there will be a short intermission during tonight's game around 6:50-7 Pacific while people reboot. (Headset non-users can play a 3-minute DM while they wait for people to come back. :)) Then we'll go for another hour or so.

Tonight's forecast: looks like rain!

I'll try and show up tonight, but I hope it doesn't end up like the Weds one, where lots of non-CAG's invaded the games.

If we're going to try the car jousting thing with pistols, might I suggest the airport as the setting for that, since the runways make for tons of free room to move.

As for Deathmatch modes, how about Bohan for those? That's where I usually play with another bunch of CAG's and it's good because there's alot of nice sniping spots in Bohan.:D

BTW, even though I doubt I'll pick one up, Staples has a BlueTooth headset by Jabra this week on sale for $19.99. I figured I'd mention it in case anyone was looking for a cheap BT headset for gaming or whatever.

I'm pretty sure the random people showed up on Wednesday because the game forgot about the private slots setting after our co-op games. I don't expect to be doing much co-op tonight so that shouldn't be a problem.

And yes, we'll try some car jousting at the airport tonight, pistols only. (I hope everyone notices this.)

in cops and crooks just let me drive....please..I'll get us there fast

Also that was cool we hit Metaly's car as the crooks boss got ejected and then Metaly fired over my head with the rocket launcher

Some pretty close C&C games tonight. And hahaha @ everyone trying to pile into that car during the Cannonball Run.

I think we can all agree that kube sucks. :D

What no, he's da best. :applause:

Good games tonight guys. I need to resist the urge to just say screw off on cannonball run games if I'm totally behind and block bridges and just blow things up. Sorry for the assy behavior.

So we doing this on Wednesday?
