CAG Killzone 2 Game Night [Currently Inactive]

I'm not sure if I will be able to make it tomorrow. I have a presentation on Friday that I need to prep for. I may hop on for 1 or 2 games... it depends.
 
I need to buy a router because comcast didn't come through.
I told them about my ps3 but they dropped the ball again. Any advice on buying a router? I just got comcast high speed internet with boost!

find a Linksys WRT54G and install Tomato custom OS
 
Agreed. Linksys WRT54G is the way to go.

I haven't bothered to mess with the OS (maybe one day when I have time), but it's the router to buy fa sho. I think nowadays it's sold as the WRT54G2.
 
I can't believe they're bundling all 3 map packs for $12. Just bought mines a couple weeks ago :wall:

Shoot -- a thunderstorm just rolled in and I don't use the TV for fear of an outage causing damage to my theater system (happened when I was a kid). Hopefully it will pass quickly.
 
Game up! I'll wait for about 20 minutes.

We had a nice 2v2 going on. Great game guys.

Yeah, that was fun. The more people we get the better, since I'm usually distracted have a hard time concentrating on objectives.

Anybody check out the new map pack? Not bad. I wasn't able to find the Flamethrower or Boltgun though (in fact I never even saw anybody with the Boltgun, but I did consistently get roasted with a flamethrower). Suljeva is like a closed-in version of Pyrrhus Rise, while Arctower reminds me of Tharsis Depot.
 
Sorry for not making it last night.

Are we still planning to use the new maps next week? There should be more people who have them now that they released a bundle.
 
Using the new map packs next week sounds great. Should we only use packs 1 and 2 though? There are probably some who haven't picked up the 3rd one yet. If you plan on coming to KZ2 nights, it'd be great if you post here and tell us which packs you have so we don't leave you out by using the ones you don't have.
 
Nice games last night, Invin. I didn't even realize that you added me to your squad (I swear I accept squad invites unconsciously) until I look at the kill tracker and saw your name pop up. Then I looked and saw that I was in a squad, and I was like "WTF", and then I was like "WTF I'm on Invin's squad!"

Then I got killed.
 
I'm pretty sure it added us to the same squad automatically. Sadly, I got disconnected during the arc tower map and missed out on the 5 mission wins trophy. I swear it's almost impossible or it's all luck to get those boltgun and flamethrower trophies. In maybe 6 hrs of gaming, I only picked up the flamethrower twice and boltgun once.
 
I'd love to play this weekend with some peeps. I'm still a noob to KZ2 though, so you'll have to bare with me, but I'm a quick learner!
 
The worse thing about the XP weekend is that everyone was actually trying to win. Usually people run around doing their own thing, but I played so many close games this weekend... and LOST. After all that effort lol. Most nights working that hard would be an easy win. Ah well.

Whats up with the lack of Clan members online? I mean not one other person was on the whole time I played.
 
I was online a lot. People definitely were trying to win. Instead of 32 people focusing on the boltgun/flamethrower, no more than 10 were after it while everyone else focused on missions. It still took a lot of work though. I'm proud to say I have all 84 KZ2 trophies!
 
I was online on Friday night and Sunday morning. It was tough though, my last game I got completed wiped (lost 6-1, I my KDR was 1:2 for the match), which sucked because it was a 30 min-per-match. So I put in all that time only to get nothing out of it.

I'll be playing more this week for sure.

Invin - grats on the trophies man. That's an accomplishment for sure.

I HATE BOTS!!!!!

Why the heck do my team's bots ALWAYS decide to blow up when I am right next to them them? LOL. I need help, do your cloaks set them off or something when they are burning??

I mean, I use them like barrels and wait for enemies to pass near their bots before shooting them sometimes too. But these don't have an enemy taking credit for the kill. Just that I died. Do they take damage when you pass through them/near them? I know they take a LOT of my health when I get to close. A lot for a sniper who needs all the health he can get at least. I run for dear life when I hear that high pitched robo-squeal that warns that they are about to explode now. Though I don't understand it.

Bots hate me. Seriously... I died first by an exploding sentry in a round. It was a bot in the base! I know it was damaged but it seemed to randomly explode. Then next after I spawned, I ran out on the scaffolding on the ISA side in B gultch. An air bot dipped OUT OF THE SKY, going full speed for me. Basically ran me over, and exploded in my face. Never seen them get that low before there.

I've also been hit by my teams anti-air missile while on top of a building. It was the angle I guess, the bot was below and shooting upwards but it missed the air bot completely and smacked me. Took a second as if the game didn't know what to do. I got hit, the character grunted and the screen got red, and the missile like lingered, then... exploded. I died. Not even close to the edge either.

Whoops- mini-rant sorry to write so much. grr!

LOL!! Stay far away from those bots. If you hear an air one around, run for you life! When my teammates' turrets are badly damaged, I usually destroy them. I have to admit though. A LOT of my deaths seem to come from turrets/air bots. The air ones even get me when I'm standing in a room.
 
All of the trophies are earned per round, right? As in, if I need to do 5 of something I need to do it during Body Count, for instance, and if that round ends and Assassination starts the trophy-earning count starts over. Right?

That was what I thought at first, but it turns out all your stats throughout the game count. You could take all 7 rounds to get a single trophy if you want. I don't think it'd be possible to get 20 boltgun kills during 1 mission.

I was thinking about hopping on a little early to set up the game but I'm not sure which of the new maps are good for smaller games. To be honest, I've only gotten a chance to play Arctower so far.

If anyone doesn't have the map packs, you should post so we don't have a game set up that only 2 or 3 people can join!

And hooray, finally my username is fixed! :bouncy:
 
As long as my online doesnt crap on me Im in for tonight but I only got the first map pack but will have the other two next week cause I dont get paid til tomorrow
 
well, i dont have any of the map packs, im considering getting the combo pack with all 3 but would need to find a gameshare. so i guess im out tonight. ill be hangin with a friend tonight anyway so its all good. ill be back next week with normal maps :)

oh and the socom thread thinks they are funny, eco you should add something to the thread title to counter their attack! :D
 
Great game guys. We were beaten pretty bad. It was probably a bad idea to be a sniper on a 2v2. What happened to everyone? Hope the turnout is better next week.

Breaking news: Salton is alive and would've joined tonight but didn't have the new maps!
