Dolphins - 28
Giants - 16
Battle of attrition in the rain at the New Meadowlands. Miami jumped out to an early 14-0 lead thanks to the running of Reggie Bush and Kendall Langford. The big 6'6" 295 defensive end scooped up a Peter Newcomer fumble and rumbled 48 yards with it for the TD. Not to be outdone, on the ensuing kickoff, Giants kick returner, Jerrel Jernigan returned the kick 99 yards to the house. Miami answered back with another long drive, culminating in a 4th and 1 with 1:13 to play in the half. Not taking anything for granted in these condition, the Dolphins again opted for hardnose football, giving the ball to their FB for his second score of the day. The Giants got a field goal in the final seconds and trailed 21-10 at halftime.
The second half was mostly defense, with Miami limiting the Giants to two field goals, pulling them to 21-16. With 3:22 left in the game, the Dolphins got the ball back and began to eat the clock. Though their offense had been stifled most of the 2nd half, Reggie Bush picked up some big yards...even after being injured twice in the game (HE PUT DA TEAM ON HIS BACK!), and Pat Devlin completed a few big first down throws. After the two minute warning, Bush came back into the game and broke off a 34 yard run to put the game out of reach. The Giants tried to rally, but Newcomer was picked off by Karlos Dansby to seal the deal.
GG, LV. I thought for sure you were going to come back when my o-line couldn't block anybody in the 3rd quarter.
