CAG League Sports: Madden 12 "JV League" - We Finished 3 Seasons! Thanks Everybody!!!

I just want to say that I'm definitely here for at least 3 seasons. Doesn't matter if it is two of us and the CPU for the rest of the games, I'm committed.

Also, I agree that a sense of community is important to keeping a good league going. I think using mics and actually talking with opponents helps that.

Update: I have two of the Pro League games tonight, which, as of now, are more important than this league when the times conflict. I hope this league's Chiefs game and Packers game can get fit in tonight.

I hope you can at least leave your team then because I can't get back on my Xbox to boot you. Also, I understand why you feel this way, but if you're going to be a detriment to the league, you shouldn't be here. Just something to think about. I'm not going to tolerate players coming over to this league and flaking out on other members because it's "less important".

I'm definately playing as the Chiefs. And I didn't mean that "less important thing" to sound like it did. I just wanted to let you guys know what was up. Pitfall, I can still sub for the VIkings around 6:45 or 7:45 PST, depending on when I can play my Chiefs game tonight.

I was definately a bit overzealous thinking I could juggle these two leagues and be a habitual subber, the Vikings will have to be placed on my back burner for now.
Just perused the thread. I didn't get a PM. I was awake at that time last night, but not on CAG. I usually go to bed between midnight and 1 A.M. Eastern, but sometimes 11 EST. Lyric, can you play today? I may have my game for the other league going on early evening EST but I'm not 100% sure at this point. I could always play both games back to back.
Yeah man. How does 11 p.m. EST sound?
damailman has been booted (and re-invited). If anybody can sub for this game, feel free. Or, if damailman gets on and can get the game scheduled, obviously, he's free to rejoin his team and do that as well.
but why was i booted in the first place when i replied with a pm yesterday and in an xbox message today????

I have a mic, but I don't wear it because headsets in general give me a headache. If anyone wants me to use it, say something and give me a minute to find it, and I'll put it on.

49ers 34
Giants 17

In a game that can only be described by the Giants as BS, two early fumbles and a pick resulted in a 21-0 lead by the 49ers. Thanks to that, Alex Smith got to rest his throwing arm, throwing only two passes all game. While Ahmad Bradshaw was held to only 28 yards on 12 carries, Eli Manning had a field day, throwing for over 300 yards and was responsible for three scoring drives as the 49ers were unable to shut down the passing game. While Eli made a tremendous effort to turn the game around, giving up the early TDs proved to be too much to overcome.

It was a miscommunication. Password is the same as the league name.
'

but why was i booted in the first place when i replied with a pm yesterday and in an xbox message today????
Because no one knew that actually happened. Your opponent claimed that there had been missed/no contact so the OP just wanted to open things up 'just in case'. It was a good proactive move by the commish based on what information he had.
so whats the league name and password since i have to rejoin smh
You should have an invitation back. If you've been booted, the game won't let you re-join unless you are invited.

If someone can sub before 9:45 EST, let me know on here.

LV, if no one can before then, I'll be on at 9:45, but that is the absolute latest I can start. If it doesn't get played tonight, feel free to sim it, n8.

I'm on now and can play against the Packers or as the Chiefs for the remainder of the night.

X-Box MurdaModeLV just message me and its on.

Ok, I'll be on in a second.
can someone please explain to me why i got booted
You were booted because whitewidow was going on and on about how he's been PM'ing you for 2 days and got no response. I could only assume he was telling the truth. I booted you since the deadline is tonight and at least that way, you playing the game yourself or finding a sub could be done without needing me for something...or so I thought. :headache:
Still no response from the Jets. Am I clear to play a sub? I will be around until 10:30-11pm eastern time tonight.
I would be fine with it, but I'm assuming Aft3rSh0ck is still in the league as the Jets. Problem is, I can't get on my Xbox right now to boot him. damailman, are you paying attention? THIS situation is why you were booted.

I feel like I should just start booting/inviting all members with unplayed games on deadline day. That way, if they actually check in, they can re-up and play their game. And if they don't, we can get a sub in easily without me having to load up the game every time. It's retarded that I can't boot people from the league website though. You'd think that would be a pretty standard "admin" feature.

Well I learned from the other league Aftershock is out of town, and he won't be back. He's moving to Texas and going back to school. It sucks you can't boot him though, and I really hope this doesn't get simmed because it's a big game for the Patriots.

Alright, well I guess we're going to have to sim this one. I posted on here and also messaged Matt on XBL — no response. Onto the next week!

Awesome. Nice of him to let us know in advance so we could plan to have a sub. This easily could have been avoided.

Yeah, seems like you and Matt just couldn't get on the same page. It didn't help that you were missing each other's communication either.

All right, we have advanced to Week 11. I hated to sub those last two games, but it seems like we have a different hold up every week, and we need to start getting these games played on time.

The stats site also appears to be finally working again. We kinda missed out on Week 9 Power Rankings, but I can at least tell you who the players of the week were.

Week 9 Summary

Offensive Player of the Week
Darren McFadden - 23 att, 213 yds, 2 TDs

Defensive Player of the Week
James Laurinaitis - 7 tackles, 1 INT

Week 10 Summary

Power Rankings
1. St. Louis Rams
2. Atlanta Falcons
3. Kansas City Chiefs
4. Philadelphia Eagles
5. New York Jets

Offensive Player of the Week
Frank Gore - 24 att, 206 yds, 4 TDs

Defensive Player of the Week
Quentin Groves - 11 tackles, 1 INT

The deadline for Week 11 is 1/14. Let's not sim any games this week! If you're not going to be available and need a sub, LET US KNOW!

I don't know if this has been mentioned, and it may not even happen, but if two secondary teams somehow get matched up in the playoffs, can we play that if we want?
I don't know if this has been mentioned, and it may not even happen, but if two secondary teams somehow get matched up in the playoffs, can we play that if we want?
I think that sounds reasonable.

I think I already mentioned that I am giving up the Vikings as my secondary team. I played one for pitfall last night because I said I would, but from here on out, I'm just playing with the Chiefs.

I'm sure I will/can sub again in the future. But scheduling 3 games for every Madden week is exhausting, and consists of too many double headers.

Falcons - 20
Titans - 7

A good game between these two teams that was separated really only by some mistakes from the young Jake Locker in the first half. The Titans made some adjustments and really established their potent ground game in the second half, but it was a little too late to mount a comeback, even with an onside kick recovery.

Good game DR, as always.

Edit - NFC South is really kicking some major ass. Everyone is above .500 ball in Week 11. The playoff picture in the NFC is looking pretty wicked actually, as I could see a 10 win team having to miss the playoffs.

Yeah great game. I was close to bringing it back. Locker is so un-accurate. I think I am getting better, although you are obviously the better player.

Do you have any tips based on how I played?

Taken care of.

That leaves us with 3 teams open now. Kinda sucks that one of them is a first place team with a 2 game lead. I don't love the idea of just letting anybody swoop in and take over a first place team this late in the season. I'm open to suggestions for what to do with the Jets though.

You definitely are getting better, and I think you are on my level currently. I PMed you though just in case anything I can offer based off those two games can help. Doubtful, but you never know and I am happy to help anyone.

The next game I have for the 49ers is against the Cardinals, who are open. Anyone want to play for them? I'm available for the rest of the day today, and most of the day tomorrow.

Rams 20
Seahawks 14

Close game here for St. Louis. Workhorse Steven Jackson helped sustain some long drives in the second half to keep the ball away from Seattle. Quintin Mikell had two interceptions for the Rams as well.

Seattle used a lot of hurry-up offense in odd situations to keep the Rams defense tired and on the field. The Seahawks also called a time out at the end of the game as I was kneeling. A little weird, but they ended up getting the ball back with a few seconds left to try some hail marys.

Not sure how late you're going to be up tonight (I know you're on Hawaii time) but I MIGHT be able to play in like an hour or so, depending on how the baby falls back asleep after her bottle. If it's any trouble for you to wait up, don't worry about it because I can't promise anything. But I don't have games for either of my teams this week, so subbing would be a nice change of pace. If not tonight, we could shoot for tomorrow as well...unless someone else available when you're wanting to play. Either way, no big deal. Just putting it out there.

With a score like that, using his timeouts was the right call. Were you in scoring range, and maybe he figured you'd try to score again to put the game out of reach? Then when he saw you taking a knee, he thought "ooh, I can get the ball back"? I can't imagine he just didn't realize he had timeouts to use.

Just logged back on to CAG and saw this. I know I'm going to sleep now though, and I'm pretty sure you've gone to bed long ago. Can try again tomorrow (technically today, but I haven't slept yet).

Yeah, I was in scoring range and had about a 2nd and 2 from about his 28. There was about a minute left on the clock. I kneeled and then he called timeout. On the 3rd and 4, I tried to run for the first, and he stopped me. On 4th and 2, I decided not to go for the field goal.

Only up by 1 score, I think ya should have. I think you went above and beyond for good sportsmanship there. ;)

You "decided not to go for the field goal"? Is that code for "you tried to pick up the first and he stuffed you"? lol. I probably wouldn't have a problem with it from a sportsmanship standpoint (cause I'm sure if you had gotten it, you would have just kneeled again anyway), but that could have really backfired, haha.

Up by only 6, and with him actively trying to get the ball back, I'd definitely take the insurance points. I'm sure you were confident in your defense, but how pissed would you have been if one of his hail mary's got tipped, bounced off of three guys, and then landed in the arms of one of his receivers streaking into the endzone? (happened to me in online ranked).

Well the thing was is that he was letting me bleed the clock without taking timeouts for most of that final drive. I thought he was conceding, so yes, I was trying to be sportsmanlike by not actively trying the score again.

Believe me, I was NOT content with the lead and especially not confident in my defense. They made Tavaris Jackson look like Peyton Manning on the Seahawks' fourth-quarter TD drive.

I screwed up in clock management at the end. I should not have knelt on that 2nd down, but I was so afraid of a fumble (as always, I used Steven Jackson WAY too much). Then, after the third down stop, I decided the extra two or three seconds off the clock (plus a good chance that I would convert) was better than attempting a field goal. The earlier discussions in the thread about missing them psyched me out! LOL

Haha, understandable. Like I said, I don't think it was a sportsmanship issue either way. And him not using his timeouts earlier would have thrown me off too. Some might even argue the possibility of missing the field goal or having it blocked might outweigh the chance of not picking up the first down. Sounds like it made for a pretty good nailbiter though, lol. ;)
Ah, you went for it on 4th..interesting.
Yeah, I did. In hindsight, I should have kicked the field goal. At the time, I decided I was hell-bent on running out the clock.
