You "decided not to go for the field goal"? Is that code for "you tried to pick up the first and he stuffed you"? lol. I probably wouldn't have a problem with it from a sportsmanship standpoint (cause I'm sure if you had gotten it, you would have just kneeled again anyway), but that could have really backfired, haha.
Up by only 6, and with him actively trying to get the ball back, I'd definitely take the insurance points. I'm sure you were confident in your defense, but how pissed would you have been if one of his hail mary's got tipped, bounced off of three guys, and then landed in the arms of one of his receivers streaking into the endzone? (happened to me in online ranked).
Well the thing was is that he was letting me bleed the clock without taking timeouts for most of that final drive. I thought he was conceding, so yes, I was trying to be sportsmanlike by not actively trying the score again.
Believe me, I was NOT content with the lead and especially not confident in my defense. They made Tavaris Jackson look like Peyton Manning on the Seahawks' fourth-quarter TD drive.
I screwed up in clock management at the end. I should not have knelt on that 2nd down, but I was so afraid of a fumble (as always, I used Steven Jackson WAY too much). Then, after the third down stop, I decided the extra two or three seconds off the clock (plus a good chance that I would convert) was better than attempting a field goal. The earlier discussions in the thread about missing them psyched me out! LOL
