Generally speaking if you can kneel to win the game, do so. Especially in a one-score game where a fumble would be killer.

Not the end of the world though.
 
Yea this doesn't seem like a deliberate example of running up the score. Kneeling is the respectable thing to do in those situations, but a lot of people still run the ball with under 2 minutes left even when the other team has no timeouts. I've done it myself and actually scored once I think (I wasn't proud of it and apologized later...don't remember who my opponent was)...but I don't think people do it with the intent of scoring. I don't think you'd expect that with under a minute left you're gonna break off a 50 yard TD run. In my opinion, running it with under 2 minutes left is okay under certain circumstances...but obviously not the epitome of respect. If you're in the red zone and running it with under 2 minutes left, that seems like a more deliberate attempt at running up the score, but when you're in your own territory...it doesn't seem like that was his intent. And if you do run it with under 2 minutes left, you should be killing as much clock as possible in between run plays. It's probably somewhat a mix of carelessness and boredom, cause running the ball for a few yards to kill the clock is a lot less dull than kneeling it.

siradam has been playing with us for a long time and has definitely been respectable so I don't think we need to call him out on something like this. I actually think we should commend him for almost breaking 100 yards rushing in a game...! But it looks like you guys had a good close game, so just put that one play aside and just get ready for the next week. And way to overwork your rookie WR in his first game red worm...he has to learn from the veterans first!
 
I wont commend him for anything. He had a 56 yard run on a play that 100% of nfl coaches would have kneeled out.

if you had just been scored on in 8 seconds and you had the ball vs no timeouts you wouldn't take the knee and let the clock run out. Why would you even run in that situation. I don't find anything at all respectable about that, I know you will just blow this off because you don't think it is a big thing but I'm not going to say "gg" or anything like that.
 
just got home and seeing what the CPU drafted... i'm a bit disappointed. MA or BV... did either of you move whoever was going to the Pats from my team?
 
Yeah I'm pretty sure BV already moved whoever you got in the 1st round over to the Pats, although I'm not exactly sure who it was. I'd definitely be disappointed if I were you too...you only got 1 worthwhile player it seems, sorry man.

And I see where you're coming from red worm...if he is justifying what he did with that kind of faulty reasoning, then I'd probably be more upset in your position too. I don't think the act in itself was very bad but I'd be more at ease if siradam was at least somewhat apologetic about it. Like I said, I was in a very similar situation where I scored a long touchdown run with around a minute left in the 4th quarter instead of kneeling the ball and I immediately felt really bad about it and apologized like 3 times to my opponent after the game. Not saying siradam should feel like he is the scum of the earth...but as long as he understands that kneeling it is the best thing to do in that situation (and hopefully does that from now on), that's good enough for me.

By the way FALCONS...you gotta drop Jacoby Ford and whoever else you might have picked up from the Free Agency.

BV I'm not sure if you promoted me to commissioner again or not, but if you're still gonna be commissioner for the time being...then can you move Jacoby Ford from the Falcons to the Bengals? Or just pass commissioner over and I'll figure out how to do it. Ford is the Bengals' return man so I'm pretty sure he'd notice if he was missing...
 
I (Chargers) got that pick from the Seahawks which I didn't even know about, but there as no Seahawks owner. Luckily, I did want that quarterback since I needed a decent backup. I tend to have a lot of injured players.

I heard people talking and I threw on the headset after struggling to keep up with the text chat via my Xbox controller, but everyone who was in voice chat had signed off except for Fero. It was nice to have a friendly conversation with him after all that went on in the past between us. I mainly wanted to let everyone know that I was present... had a friend over so I didn't get on the headset right away.

My week 1 opponent is the Chiefs. Ramesu is still the owner in game, but the OP says he switched teams. What is the situation there?
 
I actually felt bad about it, really bad.. until i got an immediate message after the score stating "way to not kneel and be a dbag". So. should i be sorry? Absolutely. should i be called a douchebag? i don't think so. Regardless. We've played ATLEAST 6 competitive games(red worm is in my division in league 1) in the last 3 seasons of league 1, and you kicked my ass week 17 when i had just come down with bronchitis.

I'm a grown man. I made a mistake. Sorry.
But i still don't think that name calling is necessary. And THIS is why i didn't immediately get on my knees and beg forgiveness. Had you broached the subject a little differently, we wouldn't be where we are now..

usually when i run the ball. i get stuffed... so you can be sure i wasn't running the ball to score there purposely....i've got 4 last place rushing yard seasons to prove this..

Ramesu is switching to the Eagles...so the Chiefs are unowned as of now unfortunately. Hold off on playing your game (against the CPU) for the next couple days if you can, so we can see if we can get any more people to join the league. If by Wednesday afternoon/night we don't have any takers for the Chiefs, then I think you'll be fine going ahead and playing the CPU.

And fair enough siradam...I think I'm done playing mediator lol. I don't think any ill-feelings will carry on to tomorrow, so I think we're all good.
 
I'm fine with holding off, but Thursday night will probably be occupied by CAG team NHL 11 playoffs. Just wanted to mention that in case someone does take over the team. Also, I mentioned this a while back in the thread for the other league, but I will be on vacation in Mississippi/Louisiana from 2/26-3/12 (2 weeks, Saturday-Saturday) and I won't have any video games. Unfortunately, that means I'll probably miss 3-4 games in each league.
 
I think running the ball is fine in that situation I hate kneeling the ball just as I hate running it sometimes..... step ur defense up and stop it or make him fumble to get the ball back...... complaining about stupid situations is childish and makes it harder on them to run the league..... I think grown ass men playing madden shouldn't need babysitting
 
I have a quick question, what are the rules on a laggy game? Just saying because there was so much lag I couldn't do anything and he scored 21 points on me then it cleared up with like 2min left in the 4th and it was to late to come back.
 
Ur pretty much shit out of luck in my opinion.... gotta do wut u gotta do and work through it cause some games will b laggin more then others...... some people quit and try another day but u can't be almost finished like in. Ur case and then ask to start over........ and never accept a win without asking on here for permission I made that mistake once

If the lag is that bad you don't have to put up with it, you can ask to stop and then try again later or another day. But if you play the whole game laggy without saying anything you're pretty much stuck with the result, sorry.

Man teams are opening up faster than we can fill them!! Is red worm is really quitting? He never indicated he was leaving...unless he just left without saying anything. It's gonna suck if we can't find people to fill up at least some of those CPU spots.

BV it's good that you're still active on the forums cause I tend to wake up pretty late and I'm also busy a lot of the time studying for one of my classes, so I won't be available to address a lot of the questions/issues people bring up on the forums. I can definitely handle the XFN stuff and in-game commissioner duties, but you're probably gonna continue doing the bulk of the forum stuff. But I think that's what you had in mind anyways...so GREAT.

He told me in a PM and he also quit the league in-game, so I guess he means it this time.

Now that we have this many teams open maybe we should consider other options like we discussed the other day.

Sounds good. The biggest thing I need help with is just scheduling and harassing people to play their games, that crap gets tiring.
 
Anyone have any word about Steggy / K1LLSBURY ? Sent him a PM yesterday just saw hasnt been on forums since 2/12 and xbox since 2/9 just wondering if anyone knows whats he up too.
 
I haven't been in-game to check out my rookies, but I see the CPU drafted an 80 OVR HB that with Bradshaw and Jacobs I certainly do not need, so offers are open on him. I'm happy about the MLB though, can certainly use him. (Goff is only 78 or so and was injured at times last year)

I know he was getting married, so he may be on a honeymoon or something. As far as I know he's still in the league though, so let's give it a couple days and if he doesn't show we can have a sub for him.

So MA and I have been discussing how to deal with all the CPU teams we currently have. Hopefully we can bring in a few more players (and maybe some of our former players will get bored and crawl back) but in the meantime...

Is anyone interested on taking on a second team on a full time basis? A few caveats here:

1) It would have to be a team in the opposite conference from you.
2) Obviously no trading with that team.
3) If a new player comes along who wants a team, you've got to give it up. So essentially this is as much a perma-sub thing as anything else.

We're not definitely saying that we're going to do this yet, so don't everyone go posting and claiming teams because I'm going to ignore requests at this point, but please let us know if you'd be interested in taking on a 2nd team.

Sounds good! About the perma subs ill take on any other team i have lots of free time currently so would be pretty easy. Just not sure how someone switches between the teams haha

I added David Anderson back to the Texans roster for you, he was one of the players the CPU dropped for them.

In regards to you only having 3 WR's...it looks like 2 of your WR's from last season were among the 7 lowest rated players on your team that were dropped as a result of the rookie draft. Thanks to the miracle of the Xtremefootball.net site...it appears you had Dorin Dickerson and David Anderson as part of your receiving corps last season. So you can pick one or both of them back up if you want...otherwise you'll have to wait until the first free agency period to sign a new WR.

And as far as the Pats already playing their game...I guess he wasn't aware that we wanted teams to wait until at least Wednesday to play a CPU team so we could see if we'd be able to come up with some new owners. Sorry about that...

Edit: Darn BV already answered cause I was trying to research all that shiz on the XFN site!! However...Dorin Dickerson looks to be a better AND younger WR than Anderson, so I suggest you pick him up instead. Or you could just keep them both if you want...up to you.
 
In regards of waiting until Wednesday to see if teams get filled up so we don't play the CPU (which is a great idea) we need to make sure that whoever takes over a team can play that day or Thursday so we can advance on time.

Also, is it okay that I sign back the seven players I dropped before the draft? I made a list in a notepad file I can show anyone if need be.

nobody owns the Broncos, Ramesu went to the NFC East w/ the Eagles, and Matt Young just finished with the worst record in the league... I think i'm gonna lay claim to the AFC West title now
