CAG Madden League - CAGFL Superbowl I: Browns vs Broncos!

Just want to send out an update. I have the three Red Lights on my system and I will be out of commission for a about a week and a half. Got a coffin box coming and will be sending my system in for repairs.

I see I have no opponent this week so this might be a good thing. I will let you know when I get my 360 back.
 
My system is being sent in for repairs today. I wasn't able to get a hold of TheRock last week. Hopefully, I get the system back soon.
 
Starting to have problems, with my madden disc. It doesn't appear to be my system, because I can play every other game I own. Will keep you updated.
 
Well, looks like I've joined the club, I got the three red lights earlier tonight and she's dead. Customer service told me it would be around a 14 day turnaround until I get my system back so I fully understand if I'm replaced. Sorry guys.
 
I'm not going to replace anyone with system problems, but I think after this week I'm getting rid of other players that haven't played. I'll let this week run through Sunday and then I'll need a few days to restructure the league. I figure about 4-8 people will go.

Are you going to restart a new league or just continue the league and get rid of a few players.

I may keep the win/loss records of the current league, but I'll likely restructure divisions.
 
MS has my 360 now, so hopefully I get it back middle of next week. Not sure if Rock checks this thread or not, but I PMed him about our game after we played our week 3 game and I haven't heard from him.
 
gregthomas77 will now be joining the AFC North so cleaver, thamaster, and flybrione you all have an opponent for some of those games you missed. Also, ruffinra you now have a week 4 opponent. He is currently picking his team and I will update the first posts with info.

As far as inactivity goes so far the only division I'm really having trouble with is the NFC EAST.

I'm not even gonna say it's luck, I beat starmask2k3 (Chargers) 58-55, it was a close game for the most part but at the end an interception won the game for me.
 
mr ryles I'll try and look for you maybe tonight, but definitely tomorrow. I'm pretty sick so if things don't work out don't worry about it as it'll be my fault.

Well I just got hit with some bogus news, MS messed up shipping my coffin box and now I am going to be out probably I estimate until October 19th. I supposed to get the box on Monday. Then 3 days to ship it back. Two days for repairs or to send out a replacement. Then three more days of shipping.

I am so pissed right now!

I might go by a friends house with my profile and play but I will not be officially online for a while.
 
Just wanted to remind everyone that cuts are still likely to be made tonight. It may take a few days after that to get a new Week 5 schedule up. If any of your Week 1-4 opponents are cut don't worry about those games any more.

Okay I've started to organize the front page a bit better with the games everyone has left from previous weeks. Do you guys have any suggestions on how we should move forward? I'm for keeping the win/loss records and trying to make sure everyone has around the same amount of games played by fixing that in the later weeks of the schedule.

I'm thinking that about everyone will make the playoffs anyway except for a few teams so it shouldn't be too big a deal if the schedule is a little off.

I guess we forgot to post, but me and matt got our game in on friday. I won 44-42, I took an early lead 17-0 within the first two minutes of the game. He battled back though and it ended up being close with my field goal at the end giving me the win.
 
Alright cool, everyone will probably have through next week at least to play anyway without even worry about extensions for dead 360s.

Though for everyone without 360 problems I'm probably going to drop more players after next weekend if games aren't played without letting me know why.

The way I figure we'll do this is we'll have 4 or 5more weeks and then we'll have a 12 man possibly double elimination tournament. So if people don't play we'll just get to that sooner. If they play I'll probably restructure the divisions now so that people with fewer games played we'll be in 5 team divisions and those with more will have 4 team divisions. That way everyone has about the same win/loss record at the end and it'll be easier to determine playoff eligibility.
 
Tentatively this is how I'm looking to restructure the divisions. Have any AFC West and NFC West teams played each other yet? How about AFC and NFC East? If not what I want to do is have all the east teams play the other east teams and all the west teams play the other west teams. And maybe if things go good we can have a couple of more games within our own division at the end. I tried to put the people with the most games in divisions with less people so it'll balance out in the end. Also, I put a few guys with low records in the bigger leagues to try and let you get your win/loss records up. Kinda as a thanks for sticking it out in the league.

So if everyone could check over this and let me know if it causes any repeat match ups. That is what I'm trying to avoid. Remember it'll be West vs. West and East vs. East when looking at this to determine your opponents. Don't worry about your division rivals, you should have played them already and a second game will come after the next 4 or 5 weeks if needed.

I'm supposed to play TheRock Week 4 and if I'm reading this right, then I'll eventually play him again in the restructured system since I'm AFC West and he's NFC West.

No worries, I really just like having a set opponent to play weekly anyway.
 
If the schedule stays the way it does and with you not having your 360 anyway don't worry about the Week 4 game. I might not even have us worry about the weeks we're behind on anyway once the Week 5 schedule is up.

Oh, I've looked at the schedule a little better and I see a couple problems like that. I'm not sure if I'll just have some people play each other twice or what if I can't work around it.

Woah that was a fast post. Great game. You've got a really stingy defense. Good playcalling early, too. And I gotta learn how you do your returns. They're incredibly effective. (BTW, where'd you get your gamer pic? I know it's listed under "adidas" on the Xbox site, but I can't find it up anymore. Was it a limited release only?)

I'll get my Week 4 game in soon. TheRock messaged me today. Sorry I couldn't play, but I had to fix my NAT settings as my IP configs got all messed up again. If you see me on tomorrow or I see you, just message so we can get the game in.
 
Cleaver if you can lets try to play by tomorrow, as I don't have work. I should be available about all day, I plan on a full day of xbox 360 tomorrow. :)
 
My trick to returning - on kickoffs it's wise to call a return middle. If the opponent kicks it to either side, run towards the opposite (diagonally) but make sure you take a few turboless steps and then hammer turbo as your blockers are about to engage. Takes some practice but you should get pancakes on the opposite side that you were running to, once you see this just cut back, you'll usually only have one man to juke/beat and then you have running room. If they kickoff middle then you should be able to get to at least the 30, and occasionally break one (use the A juke, not the circles). The return game in 07 in general is soft as heck, depending on what team you have, the special teams are absolutely terrible.

Time to find a new Madden team to play with outside of this league.. that was the first time I'd played with the new Dolphins and they definitely adjusted Culpepper's rating appropriately... lol.

edit: as for my gamer pic, I have absolutely no recollection of how I found it. I just picked it one day and it's been like that ever since. If you tell me where I could go to look for it I will, but as you can tell I'm a total dashboard n00b. I do know that it was free, though, because I would never pay for something like that :)
 
Steve don't worry about Week 4 since you'll play the TheRock soon anyway in the new schedule. I'm not worrying about the past weeks anymore until maybe the end of the season.

Also, DT778 I should be around today if you want to play. I'll keep looking out for you.
 
hey matt i will be able to play on thursday +. Im able to play tomorrow but live will be down and I have to study on wednesday for a test.
