No, not really better. It doesn't matter to me either way. I'll be around tomorrow, so if you're sure you'll be, we can do it then.

But yeah, I'm pretty much over online leagues in general. I mean, running one is what it is. You gotta keep people motivated and wanting to play, that's fine. But it gets harder when you hardly want to play yourself, lol. But like I said, I'll sim this league down to the very last game if I have to. I have this thought in the back of my mind that because of games not being played, nobody will get the trophy for participating in a league though. And that would just be tragically ironic and sum up the entire game.

But this will most likely be my last MLB league anyway. With the move in December and all that stuff going on, I don't see myself being motivated or having the time to commit to it (if I even have reliable internet by that point). But that's all the more reason I'm seriously considering just pre-ordering NHL 11...since it'll be kinda my last online hurrah for awhile, haha.
 
This game is really teh suck. melokeith and I just spent around a hour playing our game and it disconnects with 2 outs in the 9th. It was a hard fought game, good pitching early before my offense woke up late in the game. I was leading 6-0 in with an out left before the game decides that it wasn't worth our effort. The online of this game is just plain bullshit. If offline wasn't so good, I would have traded this game a long time ago.
 
well, madnena took me out behind the woodshed and gave me a whooping...
that is, until we got a traffic delay w/2 outs in the bottom of the 9th with him holding a 6-0 lead... after a minute or so we got the dreaded disconnect notice
Seriously, this game sucks and I should have traded it in when it was worth something.
N8 - the game doesn't show up as counting, so can you please give Mad the "w" - sorry his stats didn't count b/c I sucked big time

Will do. Good job at least trying, guys. I really do appreciate the effort. As I've said from the beginning, it's just unfortunate how much effort it takes to have a good time with this game. It's really incredible how many "gut punches" the game has in it. Even the game you played (which I'm sure you guys enjoyed...maybe keith a little less, haha), just sours completely when it gets dropped and nothing counts.

In your mind, you'll know you played it, but for the record, it will go down as if I just assigned the win to madbst. To think that the game doing that is actually a "fix" of a previous problem truly shows how much work the online portion of The Show needs. They'd probably be better off tearing the whole thing down and starting with a new online structure. Anyway, at least we know this league won't fail for lack of effort.
 
so its just the leagues games that are laggy or disconnect compared to the online quick matches i just picked up the game last week and i have been able to get thru almost every game. I was hoping to join if there enough active people still playin
 
I've heard that bans can go 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 30, 60, or 90 days. And all this (presumably) for reporting false charges! fuck this. Hopefully, these morons in customer service can do something.
 
status check - who is still up for finishing this thing, and who is not?
I can go either way. I believe I've played as many/more games than anyone, but not sure if we'll ever finish at this rate. I know I've lost interest, personally, but can get back into it if folks are still committed to it.

it's my understanding we are finishing this one way or the other, haha. I'm still into it. Can't play today though, my woman has her bridal shower so I'll be moving in gifts (ugh)

as for the league,
I guess I'll limp to the finish with y'all then -
the CAG in me keeps wanting to trade this in toward something else like NBA 2k11 while it still gets something

Yeah, I'm about in the same place as you, Keith. The idea was to continue no matter what..which I'm sure in some form, we will. But after losing 3 of our 6 NL teams, then wildcpac has been away, and then Matt Young had his PSN account banned. That leaves us with ONE NL team (which is mdamore...who I actually haven't seen post in awhile).

It's uncanny that all of the problems are centered around NL teams, but with that many missing, there's been hardly enough people to even complete games. I guess I'm just going to go back to resolving games as soon as they're eligible to be resolved. That's better than just nothing happening. I seriously doubt anyone is going to get the "compete in a league" trophy anyway, so that makes me question the purpose of even continuing. But I guess you finish what you start? ...that's about all I can come up with, lol. Anyone got anything better?

EDIT - Series 3 games officially completed. The only remaining game was between Josh and wildcpac. I couldn't even remember if an attempt had ever been made to play that game, or if wildcpac was gone by the time we got to it. So, I just flipped a coin. Josh got the win. Now, I have to wait a week before I can resolve Series 4 games.

Essentially, we're just weeks behind with deadlines now since not many people played while the deadlines were temporarily not being enforced. The fact that one game can hold up the entire league for a week is maddening. Without people taking initiative and playing multiple games, it will take 13 more weeks to just get to the playoffs. That puts us around the end of November... I can't make it go any faster. The only thing that will is completing weeks before their deadline hits.

Well, I just tried playing a game with Supreme, and it was great until the bottom of the 1st inning, when I started noticing that awful ass stutter/hiccup lag...that's just enough to totally fuck up your timing when trying to pitch (or swing for that matter). Honestly, it could have been doing it from the beginning of the game, but I didn't notice it because I did manage a couple hits in the top half of the first. I got a great rally going in the 4th inning, getting runners to 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Of course this translated to no runs though, as a combination of the stutter lag and "guess pitch painting" limited me to ground balls and weak pop outs.

I was a pretty annoyed after this because the double that Sizemore hit was supposed to be a hit and run...which would have scored Roberts from 1st...but the game didn't register my L2 press. Next inning, more stutter lag, causing my pitches to go nowhere close to where I want them (it was even a little difficult placing the ball marker at times), but Supreme was able to get a few timely hits and score 2 runs. At that point, I told him I'd rather just forfeit the game. This is nothing against him AT ALL. He's a great player and he always plays a very fair game. I'm just at the point with video games where I think about stuff like "Am I enjoying this? No? Then I should go do something else."

And I hope people can understand it's not an "Oh no, I'm losing! This sucks!" thing. I just don't have the patience anymore to tolerate or defend a game that doesn't play right. It's unbelievable in a sport that relies on timing more than any other, how much more laggy this game is than any other. Supreme even mentioned he wouldn't care if everybody decided they wanted to quit the league, haha. Just to make sure, we're not all forcing each other to endure this are we? I mean, I'm still up for trying to play games and have a good time, but if they start lagging like this one did, I'm also fine just taking a loss too because I don't care enough to suffer through it. But it did raise an interesting point. Has anybody had fun in an online game lately?
 
N8 - I'm with you... I feel like it's become a chore. When the game works, it is fun and worth the time investment. That's the exception rather than the rule, though. Most of the time something is wrong with it. I have a decent record going, but could really care less. With the way things have gone, I honestly don't see this thing making it to the finish in one piece. I don't mind sticking it out if most want to keep going, though.

Had a good game going with wildcpac (for me at least). Come 6th inning, I score a few runs to make it 7-2 or something like that and he disconnects when I get a hit. Another game I was winning that disconnects although this time, I'm pretty sure wildcpac disconnected.

Well, the way this game is, I can't really blame anybody for having little patience. If he quit, you'll get the win. No harm done. But it could just as easily be a connection issue. If so, you guys can continue the game where it left off, or he can just take the loss. He can let me know what he wants to do when his ban is lifted.

I was out of town this weekend, but any remaining Series 4 games that haven't been played will be resolved tonight. Gotta keep this shit moving, haha.
 
All right, all Series 4 games have now been resolved. The only game left that actually needed to be played was between Matt and wildcpac. Between wildcpac being gone for 2 weeks and then getting himself banned from CAG again, I really had no choice but to give him the loss here. Also, the game between madbst and melokeith that was played through 2 outs of the 9th inning was awarded to madbst as reported earlier in the thread.

Series 5 games are up next. Since I'm a day behind (sorry guys), the deadline for those will have to be Monday, 8/30 at 11:59 PM EST. At this point, I appreciate anybody who makes an attempt to play a game. I know it hasn't been pretty, but we will get to the finish somehow.

As I said in the Madden thread, tomorrow is up in the air- I won't know till sometime during the day if I can play or not- but Wednesday and Thursday after 4 P.M. Pacific/7 Eastern would work for sure; possibly even earlier. I'll send a PM to mdam0re.

EDIT: He says he wants to "shoot for Thursday".

I'm not even trying to knock the guy. I'll take the free baserunners (he even hit my pitcher last time we played) just as long as none of my players get injured.
 
He didn't disconnect when he played me before, so I don't know about that.

I haven't heard back from him since I responded asking for a time when he said he wanted to "shoot for Thursday". I haven't really been on the computer, though I did see him on PSN last night when I was watching a Blu-ray with friends.

I'll be playing my Madden league game on the 360 in a half hour. Since I haven't heard anything from mdam0re, I will watch the Packers game from 5-8 Eastern. He seems to usually be on late anyway, so hopefully, he will play me tonight.

Yeah, I responded and posted in the thread, and I was waiting for you to get back to me with a time. I scheduled my Madden game for 7 P.M. Eastern.

As I said, I had a Madden game at 7 Eastern, and then I was watching the Packers preseason game. I don't know why you're getting all uppity about it. You never even attempted to communicate about a game despite me posting my schedule weeks ago. I was waiting for you to tell me a time for Thursday... you didn't; my Madden opponent did.

So stop making this a bigger deal than it is. I had nothing bad to say about you before. Do you want to play tomorrow in the late afternoon/early evening hours (Pacific time)? I can't start any later than 6 P.M. Pacific time. I'm working on scheduling a Madden game now. I have time for both tomorrow, but whichever of you gets back to me first will determine at what time I play which game.

I have most of Sunday open if tomorrow doesn't work.

Like I said, I never heard a confirmation on a time, just a day. No need to fight about it.

I won't be getting on the PS3 today unless we confirm a game. I'll probably be playing my Madden league game at 5:15 Pacific time. We can play after that, or otherwise , it'd have to be after the UFC PPV (starts at 7 P.M. and ends at 10 P.M. Pacific)

Tomorrow, I can play any time in the late afternoon (probably 4 P.M. Pacific or so; maybe earlier) through the rest of the evening.

I will send a PM as well.
 
Hoping to play mdam0re between Madden and the UFC PPV. Waiting on confirmation of exact time from Madden opponent, who posted in the thread and seems really keen on playing tonight. mdam0re quickly PMed me back and told me to message him on PSN after my Madden game.
 
I apologize for this time. As I just posted in the Madden thread, I had connection issues with my opponent. We just finished minutes ago. The first time, we played a partial game and lost connection. The second game disconnected shortly after it started, and then we played the game to completion after that.

I'll PM you again, but what times do you work tomorrow and Monday? I don't think I have any obligations, whether it's life or games, tomorrow afternoon and evening, so I hope we can play then. Again, sorry for keeping you waiting tonight.
 
mdam0re PMed me back and said he'd be available sometime between 9-10:30 P.M. Eastern tomorrow. Wrote back; waiting on him to name the time he wants to play. I'll be home then.

Right then... talking to myself again. Once again, I have not heard a response from mdam0re. I did not save the PM I sent to him, but I PMed him a minute or two after making my post last night at 9:49 Eastern time, and then I heard back shortly after, which was when I made my last post. In my response, I asked if that meant he could start at any time in that frame, or he would only be available for those hours.

He hasn't PMed me back, and as I said I would, I have been checking for him. I kept checking on the computer (PSN site) after getting home a couple hours ago, and I just checked the actual system a few minutes ago. It says he's been off for 15 hours.

If he can only play till 10:30 P.M. Eastern, then we have no time. If he can start at that time, then he needs to hurry up and let me know. Yesterday, while it was due to circumstances beyond my control (connection issues on opponent's end/had to restart Madden game) it was still on me that we didn't get to play the game. But other than that, it's mostly been a one way street in regards to trying to get this set up.

I hope mdam0re doesn't go off on me, because it's nothing personal and I like the guy. He was easy to get a hold of before, but I guess now he's either too busy, doesn't care much about the league (most people don't, it seems) or some combination thereof.

I just want to play!!!

EDIT: Hey, a response. Guess he posted while I was typing this out. Took me 10 minutes because I had to double check PMs and stuff.

How can you play tonight after midnight, or tomorrow? You said in your PM that you would only be available till 10:30 Eastern tonight and only before 1 P.M. Eastern tomorrow. I sure as hell can't play that early tomorrow (3 hours earlier here) and I probably won't be on the PlayStation tonight. The only way I'll be on the PS3 is if I hear from you on here that you can play for sure. If you can't get on tonight, you'll have to play tomorrow at a time that's not the morning if you want to get the game in.

I can play tomorrow, but it would have to be around 8 P.M. Eastern or after.

I haven't been given much to work with, since I was off the computer for over an hour before you posted about getting it to work, and then you were only available today till 10 A.M. my time. I can do midnight Eastern as long as you are sure you can play. Let me know.
 
If the game is not underway by 12:20 AM EST, I'm flipping a coin. The difficulty you've had in getting a single game played would be comical if it wasn't so sad. You could have played the actual game in the amount of time that has been spent going back and forth discussing when you both can and cannot play. It's really not this difficult.
