Everyone should make accounts on the ps blogs and post (thoughtful, reasonable) comments there. Maybe we could get this limit down to 3, not 2 systems?
Can't let sony screw us over and all the corporate cheerleaders' comments go, can we?
There's nearly 400 comments and most are not nice

If I was Sony I would have killed off this loophole in the first month that the PS3 came out. People act like Sony is doing them a disservice when really people were clearly taking advantage of a loophole that was never designed to act that way.

I come home and I find this out... This makes me pretty mad. I guess i'll join a longterm group. Also my birthday is on Nov. 17, this new rule starts on the 18th? Damn, this sucks.

Unless they are planning in buying immediately

I think there is some merit to getting 5 good members together and buying what you really want before the 18th and then if one sells they have to provide contact info for the new person?

Anyone?

@WV Matsui, I don't mean to be rude or anything but I think it would be nice if you could cut your posts down. It's a little annoying having to search through the pages and seeing your name appear half of the time. Can you try maybe condensing all those posts in one or maybe not post if your comment doesn't add much?

Let's say you're correct but charging let's say $60 for a disc based digital download minus the case and booklet is injustice I don't care how new the game is. Not to mention the time to takes to download and the huge chunk it takes out of our hdd. This is not the first time they slap us in the face. Taking away backwards compatibilty on slims to eventually start releasing ps2 classics on psn.

you mean short term? Purchases after the 18th can only be shared with one other person.

Well no one is forcing you to buy a digital copy of a game that is more likely to be discounted in disc form.

They didn't "take away" backwards compatibility on Slims either, get your history straight. They removed PS2 BCyears ago on the phat models (and not models that had that feature) and that was because they didn't want to keep producing old components still. If they figured out how to perfectly emulate the PS2 (as patents seem to show them attempting) then it's quite possible they could add it through a fw update.

And your logic is flawed since the PS3 still plays PS1 classics, yet they sell them on PSN as well. If they were only doing it to sell you back the games you want then they could very well have found a way to disable PS1 playback as well.

This really has nothing to do with that, no one who has sold or bought gameshare slots can deny they were taking advantage of a loophole. That's what it was. If anyone really thinks Sony designed those 5 activation slots so people could split the costs of games, they're bullshitting themselves.

Purchases before the 18th will be shareable with 5 systems. Buying everything now will allow them to be shared still.

Yes, so? That has nothing specifically to do with gamesharing, 3 is simply a fairer number than 2 in terms of how many systems a person may have in their household or other location. Not to mention when the Vita comes out, the limit of 2 seems pretty low. A person could have a PSP , PSP Go and Vita but can only access games on 2 of those. Essentially Sony is limiting the amount of systems you can buy. and use at the same time. I doubt many people need to use 5 systems at once, but I think a max of 3 is more reasonable than 2. In terms of gamesharing however, 3 activations would probably seem more reasonable to people here too. I didn't think I needed to explain all this, but whatever...

There needs to be a feedback system that deals exclusively with gameshares. Someone mentioned it to me yesterday but i thought nothing of it, but once this new rule is implemented it is imperative that people have a way of knowing which users are trustworthy.

The problem i have with Sony is the lack of foresight - i mean it is inarguable that we've abused the loophole but to think that Sony didn't consider the possibility of gamesharing on a grand scale is quite ridiculous and to start tinkering with it now is even more ridiculous. This will not only hurt small developers but it will have an adverse effect on revenue unless a more reasonable price point can be reached on a few of the higher priced games and downloadable content. Sometimes i really do question the business acumen of the people at the helm - this new rule will likely cut my PSN spending in half and i know that is the case for a lot of PS3 owners. I love you, Sony, but i don't have to like you right now

i know that, but it wouldnt be "long", now would it?

Sorry Dangkid I'm compelled to respond to Brain...

More like form a group and by a bunch of games that the 5 of you want before Nov 18.

Then establish a system to where if they sell their share they have to provide the new members info so there will be no worries of surprise deactivation.

After Nov 18 it would just be 2 person shares.

Do you somehow think these slots are designed for gamesharing or something? because that's what your posts come off as. Can you really not grasp what I just explained above? Sony designed these slots so you can use your purchased content on YOUR systems. With the new rule, this allows you to use your content on only 2 systems at once, no more. That won't happen for a very long time. As long as there's a physical medium for a console no major company in their right minds will release a major title digitally only. It wouldn't make any financial sense since they make much more by selling them at (or rather to) retailers than they would on PSN.
have you even read SCEA Jack Tretton's declarations in the OP? :roll:l
Yes, years ago. Please show me where he has the final say in these decisions? Hardcore gamesharers recite the quote from Tretton like it's the word of God, it's fucking hilarious shit. I'm sure he regrets saying it now, and I wouldn't even be surprised if he didn't grasp what he was saying completely, or what it would lead to.

Hey guys, this group is filled. I went ahead and created a social group so we can discuss and finalize the list of games we want to pick up.
You have an answer for everything thing! Must be from your "SSJ" powers! Just joking, don't take it the wrong way. :)
lol, I don't even know why I still use this name. I made it like 1996 or something and I just kept using it since even though I'm not a big DBZ fan anymore. So lazy and resistant to change ><

Anyway, I know people are really upset about this and everything, but I realize that this was a loophole we were using and it was a matter of time before Sony put a stop to it (or crippled it at least), so I guess I'm more understanding of the situation.

There had to be a reason why Sony didn't disable it till now. I mean that's 5 years of them leaving a known loophole open. Maybe it just wasn't financially worth it anymore. Or maybe companies like Capcom threatened Sony to pull content or not release future content until they change the gamesharing terms. We all know what Crapcom has done to try and kill gamesharing themselves.

You are obviously against gamesharing and I respect that. For a fact, I know that any type of reasoning whatsoever will not sway you from your position. However, you have to consider that people here won't sway their position either.

That said, I would respectfully request you to just stop posting about your hate to it. It isn't productive at all. This is a gameshare thread and people here just do that. Would you think it is appropriate for anyone to say "Xbox SUCKS" over at the Xbox forum? I thought so.

_______

As for future gamesharing, I've thought of a system that might be useful.

A game would be split between 4, each person paying 25% each. We would treat each group as a LT one where we would create a CAG group to keep in touch. Within the group, you have to decide who gets to ply it first. The selected members would then have a reasonable amount of time (I say minimum 1 month to a maximum of 3) before they turn it over to the other 2 members. The other 2 can play until their hearts' content and sell it to the community for 25% of the price.

In Summary, the first two gets to play the game for 1-3 months and pays a premium of 25% of the retail price for it. They do not get the money back.

The last two members loan their money in the promise of getting the gameshares at some future date. Once they have the share, they can play until whenever and sell it at 25% of the retail to the community. They can get their money back.

The community will get the game much much later and thus, only have to pay 25% of the price.

Well I guess it's time to start getting rid of these slots so here's what I have:

Account 1: Call of Duty Classic
LittleBigPlanet
GTA Lost & the Damned
Black Ops Escalation Map Pack (offer)

Account 2:
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Hydrophobia (PS+)
Costume Quest (PS+)
Resident Evil 1, 2, & 3 (PS+)
PS+ membership *expires 12/26* ($8)

Account 3:
Zen Pinball
Marvel Pinball ($4)

Account 4:
All black Ops Map Packs
Account 5:
Call of Duty Black Ops
(Will only sell 4 & 5 together- $20)

Account 6:
TMNT ($4- no longer sold on psn)

Will make a very fair deal to anyone who wants account 1 and any others!
Does anyone have or know where I can pick up a cheap $20 psn card? might as well use up my paypal funds.
This will not only hurt small developers
It's going to help small developers cause they won't be getting screwed anymore selling five copies for the price of one. I'm sure game publishers have been asking for this move for a long time.

Looking to join/start groups for the following games before the change happens if anyone is interested, only really interested in 2 or more of the following games in each account:
Prince of Persia Trilogy, inFAMOUS Festival of Blood, Limbo, Flower, Dragon Age: Origin, Echochrome 2, Far Cry 2, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Call of Duty: Black Ops (+DLC if possible), PixelJunk Sidescroller, Infamous 2, Crysis & Splinter Cell Trilogy.

Also selling a share of Infamous 2 ($11). SOLD.
