From what I understand, the phantoms are the people who log into the account first to download it, and then they keep the account on their PS3 but never switch back into it. Once the phantoms have finished downloading, the host remotely deactivates the account from the phantoms' PS3's, and that frees up the two slots for the resellers to be able to activate the account on their PS3's.

Six months later, the two remote deactivations become available again (since they can be done once every six months per two slots, so twice every six months-- once per reseller slot), so the resellers can choose to become phantoms themselves by reselling their own slots, getting [at least some of] their money back in the process if someone wants to buy said reseller slot. Resellers can also sell timeshares of their slots, letting people pay a couple of dollars in order to borrow that slot for a week or whatever.

I haven't done a gameshare before, so this is just based on what I've read in this thread. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, please.

Ah, I see... So, if you take a phantom slot the game is always there for you, and you just aren't able to resell, correct?

If I'm understanding correctly, this is true except if you do one of the following:
1. Delete the game (because you won't be able to re-download it if you do)
2. Access the other account on your PS3 after it's been deactivated (because then your PS3 will realize that it's been deactivated, and it will then deactivate the games downloaded with that account)

Thanks, though it's sorta more like welcome back. I just haven't been around since before the rule change... I did have a long term group of my own for just over a year. But yeah, things are pretty different now.
