CAG Socom Thread-SONY SHUTTING DOWN SERVERS AUGUST 31 for S1-CA Tue&Sun10pmEST

Sorry I got off early last night, The sound bug was really irking me + early work in the morning (which you can see I'm doing alot of right now). I still have a lot of catching up to everyone in terms of skill, but I think the limited respawns worked out well.

I played breach for the first time last night, and its definitely more tactical than demolition, but has a much steeper learning curve.
 
are any of you interested in playing some ranked games?
i wouldnt mind trying to get some team strategy going.

How would that work? Would it be all of us on the same team against some unknowns from another clan?

yeah thats about how id imagine it, unless we had enough cags to break into groups.

also the games would be no respawn............

Yeah, I kinda figured that. ;)

As long as headsets are mandatory, people are calling out targets and goals, and the session length isn't crazy long I think I could learn to suck it up.

Or maybe just learn to stay alive. :twoguns:

I just don't want to spend the little free time that I have for gaming sitting on the couch and watching other people play.

I would definitely be up for playing some ranked games, even with just a couple other people I know on the same team for me.

Add my as a friend (BlueScrote850) and If I'm online just shoot me a message and more likely then not I would love to play with teamwork-minded individuals.
 
Fun games last night, although it seemed like I spent more time than usual spectating. Next time I'll make sure to charge my DS.
 
Are these for ranked games only? If they are, I'd say there's a good chance most will be retroactive since aren't stats stored on the SOCOM servers?

I'd guess that it'll probably remember that you have 250 accumulated rifle kills or whatever, but you may have to get X kills in a round post-patch to actually get the trophy.

Ranked games only. I think they are going to reset stats after 1.3 though.

md, smog and I play most every night in ranked games. It's always great when more CAGs are on. Some of the teams out there are really good and work super well together. One of the teams last night used a player as a decoy while another one came around and wiped us out from the side. It's always fun.

Yeah it is always a great time. We could certainly use a few more regulars who are down with ranked games.

Im about to eat and chill for a minute then hop on for the night.

One of the reasons I am holding off playing till after the patch. I still have not touched GTA4 after that patch :bomb:

But good lord the trophies..... :booty:
 
I'll hopefully be able to get on a couple of nights this week/weekend. Haven't played in a few weeks though so I might be kinda rusty.
 
argh when is that patch coming...isn't it supposed to be this week? I've been all but ignoring this game until it actually starts allowing me to play it ffs.
 
The news you have all been waiting for. The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update has been approved and will be released tomorrow, January 9th, at about 5am EST (2am PST, 1000 UTC/GMT, 1900 JST/KST). The SOCOM: Confrontation server will be down for 1 to 2 hours at that time in order to update the server for the new update. Everything should be back up and running at about 7am EST (4am PST, 1200 UTC/GMT, 2100 JST/KST).

In order to resolve incorrect player stats and to correct the stats for the Trophy support, we will be clearing all player statistics with the release of the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update. This will be done when the server is updated.

With the patch coming out tomorrow I'm going to try to start playing this semi-regularly. What do I need to do to get in on the CAG clan?

I figured out the problem on my own without the patch. It turns out the problem with my game was that when i used the data installer to install the game, the data was half-corrupted...i only ever got to see or play three of the maps that were available because the other maps were all corrupted and that's why the game kept booting me out whenever it tried to load those maps. Looking forward to the patch anyway to fix lag and glitches.

And I might stop by for a CAG match some time if everything works like it should from now on.

They just now reset the servers. Hopefully the stat reset follows shortly.

You did alright the other day. There will be a ton of newbs on this weekend since the patch dropped. We will have to do a few ranked games on Sun

Anyway the servers are still down so I am sabout to go back to bed for a while. Ill be on later
 
Did they botch this? I keep getting network initialization failures, which wasn't happening last night when I finally got the game to work...I'm guessing a lot of people know about the update and decided to get on this morning? It doesn't seem like you guys are having this problem though.

The update servers should be good, but the game servers are down for them to wipe the stats.
 
yea i am getting the failures as well i got the same when i bought the game and updated it then and i got a straight line to the net so no wifi issues

I hope to get together with you guys this weekend/Sunday. Unfortunately, I'm always joining pretty late when everone's already gone around 11PM CST. I'll try to make it in earlier this Sunday cause I really want to play with you guys again.

Yeah I meant to post it was back. Im getting on in ten minutes. Stats ARE being recorded now too so I need to get that k:d ratio up
