CAG Socom Thread-SONY SHUTTING DOWN SERVERS AUGUST 31 for S1-CA Tue&Sun10pmEST

I've been thinking about trying SOCOM again but I haven't tried since the servers first got fixed. Obviously I"m behind by a few updates. I don't mind waiting 45 minutes for the download but 4 times in a row when it gets to the end I get an error and it fails. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get this working?

Hmm, what kind of internet setup do you have? (i.e. ISP, router, etc.)
 
on campus housing at York so I don't really have an ISP i can call or anything. I'm wireless, I have a Belkin (801.11g) router. Every other update works, I just did the Singstar one a few days ago, and I haven't had trouble downloading Pulse, just SOCOM.

You did do the installer update that you did with SOCOM right? The one that comes with the disk below it?

Also, it helps to just try again later.
 
pretty sure i did that a while ago. cause i /have/ played SOCOM. it occurs to me to wonder if maybe I deleted it or something. I'll try that and see what happens.

*E* well i guess it was a timing thing. it just finished downloading again right now and went thru and installed and all that jazz. Guess I'm up to date. Just gotta figure out how to join the CAG clan and I'll be all good.

Don't understand the question? Cost like xbl dlc? If I understand your question, than yes/no.

The prices are basically the same for dlc for multiplatform games like
for cod4, except you don't add points to your account, but funds as in dollars.
 
Thanks! What I was asking is if you have to pay for the DLC like on Xbox games.

MS makes developers charge for almost all DLC now. :(
 
You have to pay for the Map Pack but the PS3 does allow for free DLC unlike the 360. Some of the patches you had to download had free DLC in them

Man the old Socoms had Custom taunts where u could put whatever you wanted in there. I wish that was in Confrontation. You should try the dances though. Kill someone and go dance on their body while talking shit! Its pretty funny

Hauppauge HD PVR with my Asus EEE 901. I just used my other old desktop to edit the video with Sony Vegas.

edit: knife fight sounds good, I can for sure at least record that.
 
Hey guys, I just got this game for Xmas and I was wondering how hard it would be to break into it now? I mean is it mainly for hardcore players or are there rooms for noobs like me?

It ain't to hard. There are respawn rooms all the time, you can jump in and
try out all the guns etc.

Learning curve isn't so steep, although people think it is. Our CAG clan is noob friendly lol.
 
There are ranked rooms and unranked rooms. Honestly, it takes a bit of time to get used to the game if you haven't had previous experience. It's all about learning the ins and outs of the maps.

Just practice in the rooms with infinite respawn. The kills and deaths don't count, however you can practice all you want in these.
 
Who knew staying in one room where you have competitive matches
somtimes :D
can be so much fun.

I think I finally found a map where I am consistently good.

Thanks for the replies! If that's the case, then I might have to pop it in and start playing. I'm finally done with school so I should have more time to play these days. I don't know if I'll ever find the time to play consistently in a clan (wish I did though) but I'll certainly try.

Really? I don't know how much I can play at any given time. Is that ok? I hate to be "that guy" who only plays once or twice and everybody gets pissed or something lol. It's happened before :D.

My psn is hnd2glnd if someone can send me a clan invite online. I'll try and play a little tonight in a constant respawn room first before diving head first with you all. I hate to be the one that drags everyone's stats down because I have no clue what I'm doing. Thanks!
