CAGbag: Get your questions answered on CAGcast

Hey guys! Quick Question for Wombat (Look! I am giving u attention *flailing arms with wombat flags* lol). I'm going to be maing a trip down to NYC from Toronto as soon as the snow is gone and I was wondering what good Comicbook shops to visit other than midtown comics since I order from there all the time. In Toronto Comicbook stores are always sold out of stuff (espeically the UDON Street Fighter comics/trades) and I don't want to wait for the Toronto Comic Expo. As well (question for both of you), cool places to eat for someone who never went to NYC. Thanks guys and especially u, Wombat, in advance. *queue marching band with Wombat's face on the drums and banners*

Cheapy, since we know your wife liked the Rez trans vibrator so much, any chance of trying out the Xbox Live community game "Simply Massage" an app that turns your Xbox 360 controller to a massage tool.
Let us know which "game" she enjoys more.

For fair comparison, you have to hook up all four controllers on the 360 version of REZ to get ultimate pleasure.

This question is for Cheapy.

With all the craziness surrounding this week's CAGcast and how Wombat's computer froze at the end of the show, and Cheapy's Facebook status saying that he should just edit it down to a one man podcast, I was wondering what goes into making the CAGcast each week. I'm not very familiar with Skype and it's use to make a fake radio show, so I'm curious how it is edited together.

a question for wombat and cheapy about resident evil 5

since RE5 is now going to be primarily a coop experience, how exactly is that suppost to work? an action RPG isnt really something thats easily played in coop since its going to take maybe 20 hours to complete. if a person quits the game dosent that mean the other player has to wait for the other to return before continuing? or else one'll get ahead and the other is still 2 hours behind therefore having to play it seperately? what about weapons and money? im thinking this isnt going to be a real coop experience but more of a fable 2 gimped type experience where the second player just gets into the game but really dosent matter or gain anything from being the 2nd player. so how do you think the RE5 coop will work?

Dear Cheapy and Wombat,

I was playing Sonic Unleashed with my nephew and I thought the game was ok. However, I was wondering, why since the 16 bits days hasn't there been a Sega/Sonic console game that is on par with a Nintendo/Mario console game?

I cannot remember a Sonic console game over the past few generations that has lived up to the Sonic Genesis era games. Sonic Rush was excellent, but it was for the DS. Is it that difficult to develop a 3D Sonic console game because of the combination of speed and control needed? How can it be that this generation's Cell Processing cannot match the late 80's Blast Processing? Or, is Sonic simply a more fun experience in 2D?

Maybe Sega should just try and create high res, scrolling 2D games for the consoles and leave behind the idea of moving Sonic to a 3D gameplay world. Maybe try something like Capcom did with Street Fighter - a 3D environment with 2D gameplay. What do you think?

Hey Cheapy, just wondering, why is there so many restrictions on the sigs for CAG Newbies, it seems like whatever I try to do, its too big; plus, it won't let me use an image... /endrant

On an old CAGcast, you mentioned that you did not want to continue CAG Shovelware because you did not consider it new content that brought any additional traffic to the site.

My question is - would you ever allow CAGs to submit creative content for the site? I thought Shovelware was a great idea and would love to take a crack at it. I think features such as this DO benefit the site as it gives the community something to talk about and share with their friends around the internets.

Dear Cheapy and Wombat,

I found the first few hours of Mirror's Edge to be very enjoyable, but as the levels went on, the game grew increasingly more frustrating - even to the point where I had to spend more than thirty minutes on one fucking jump. This has totally soured me on the game and I feel bad about it because I enjoyed the first half so immensely. What games have there been that had one part or boss fight that was so unbelievably frustrating that for you that it caused you to despise the game - in particular, one you were enjoying up till that point?

Your fellow New York Jew,

Gideon

Hey

I was just wondering is there any chance of you making those youtube slideshow videos again using audio from the show? I recently rewatched some of them (namely double dragons) and they are funny as hell.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hey CheapyD I just started one of those blogs that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE reads and was wondering if you had any tips for someone just starting out?

Hey Cheapy and Wombat
First off let me just say that I took a leap of faith (Based on Cheapy's opinion) and picked up Saints Row 2 after trading in GTA4 and could not be happier with the decision. Having said that I have a real question for Cheapy, why Robocop? I mean don't get me wrong I love pseudo robot action movies as much as the next guy (no sarcasm) but why?

Love the show keep it up Kambul

Hey Cheapy and Wombat the Great.
For Cheapy, I was wondering if you had thought about weather Tai would have a better childhood in Japan or America.
The other thing was (not sure if you have talked about this or not), why haven't you done any more shovelwares? I really enjoyed them.

Confused about that one Cheapy. How do we know when it is going on?
also, why not have a goodbye speedy charity? Like child's play and give away a prize to a random winner?

This question is for Wombat, but Cheapy can chime in. You guys touched upon game "journalism" in the past two CAGcast. I know Wombat listens to various gaming podcasts and would like to know if he has heard this weeks Joystiq podcast, episode 083? At the 1 hour 7 minute mark they read a listener email from someone who puts into question their claim to being journalist and Chris Grant proceeds by calling him an ignorant moron and defends his self as a journalist. Although Chris Grant shows a lack of restraint and resorts to name calling, I found his reply strong. He used a book called "The Elements of Journalism" and began to state what the book puts forth as key factors of journalism and how Joystiq is in line with all these factors, thus solidifying them as journalist. What do you think about this response?

Cheapy and Wombat,

Hypothetically, if CAG never existed, do you think that gaming blogs and news sites would have nearly as many posts about video game deals as they do now? It's becoming increasingly obvious and more frequent that gaming sites are posting deals that were revealed on CAG. These sites of course do not give credit to their proper source (CAG) and it seems that they are beginning to abuse it.

Cheapy & Wombat

If you were given charge of development for the Xbox720 or the PS4, what would you do differently, what would you add, remove, improve or change about the console? and also, how would you go about marketing this console, such as target audience to make it as successful as possible?

thank you for your time and a great show!

Hey I have a question for CheapyD and Wombat.

Do you ever think that once the economy stabilizes we'll see less sequels and more original IPs as companies start to take risks. Or do you prefer sequels as long as they usually improve the already winning formula and add extra features or improve the graphics.

Out of last year what is your favourite new IP game? And Out of what's coming in 2009 what game that's NOT a sequel are you most excited for?

hey cheapy and wombat

i just wanted to write in to compliment the podcast and site. this has been the first gaming site that i've really enjoyed. i found the cagcast through joystiq and the site through the podcast.

all of these improvements are great. they makes a great site every better. and i would say significantly better.

and the podcast has continued to be great. i agreed with your thoughts on other podcasts last week. i think some of those can be entertaining for a while. but i get tired of them. while the cagcast is able to stay fresh.

thanks

Hey Cheapy and Wombat,

Being in the CAG beta I've noticed that an awards system has been added to the CAG profiles. I have a couple questions about this;

1.) Why did you choose to make this addition?
2.) What kind of awards can we expect to acquire over the coming years?
3.) (similiar to question #2) Will a lot of the awards involve spending money on the site i.e. events like Child's Play Charity?
and
4.) Will awards be displayed under or near our Avatars on the forums?

This is a very cool feature, but dangerous for me considering I can be a bit of an Achievement whore on the 360 and I love CAG so much.

So far I'm lovin' the beta, the additional tabs are absolutely awesome and make everything very easy for navigating the site. Keep up the good work Super Programmer John.

Another quick question.

In light of the Michael Phelps smoking pot thing, Cheapy do you feel far less guilty now that he has come clean and said he smokes marijuana?

Also has Wombat ever smoked the wacky tobacky?

Hey Wombat, you are falling into PETA's trap. I did some freelance web design for them a few years back, and i can tell you everything they do is designed to get free publicity.

They submitted a super bowl ad last year, but that one got rejected as well. They don't have the money for a super bowl ad, they just want the free publicity from being rejected. When i was working for them, their president was making something like 36k per year. I guarantee they will have an ad rejected next year as well.

Oh, and if you were to read this on the cagcast, you would be falling into their trap again :)

Hey, Cheapy and Wombat

I was wondering if you guys have ever traded in a game you regretted later on. If so, what were the games? (I've done this quite often)

Love the show!

-Connor :)

Hey Cheapy,

I love the awards feature implemented on CAG. After going through yours, Wombats, Shipwreck, and Mrs. Shipwreck I notice that none of you have the Childs Play Award. I thought I heard you say you donated and Shipwreck was planning to donate. Is the awards function fully operational? Sorry, I live in Wisconsin and all I have time for is to stalk people....

Cheapy - any chance of some iphone/ipod games talk? You mentioned line rider awhile back then not much.

What do you think of the "premium games" section coming to the app store?

Hi Cheapy,

Will there be some new Your Man In Japan videos in the future? the food you showcased in many of the previous videos looked amazing, and knowing I can't get that type of food where I live, it was nice to see and hear someone talk about it and give it a try.

I'd also like to know if you've tried any more crazy beverages. for example, any new flavors of Pepsi besides the cucumber flavor? Does Japanese beer taste quite a bit different than American beer?

Hey Cheapy,

We all know that you spend the majority of your day at home playing games and caring for Tai, but who was Cheapy before CAG? Take us through what life was like before your e-stardom, such as life after college, what jobs you held down, etc. Did you expect CAG to be as big as it is now, and did you expect to make a living off it?

Hey Cheapy and Wombat this is my first question to you, but I've been listening to the last 6 podcasts and lurking around the site a while. My question is, is there a way for non-donors to join the beta of the new CAG? I wasn't around where donations were being made, but I would love to test out the new features. Great podcast, been listening for very little, but it has grown to be one of my favorites.

Hey Cheapy and Wombat,

So I heard your note about "what you you do to improve the next gen of consoles"

I've always thought that Microsoft made a big mistake by creating the xbox brand in the first place ( xbox is just a terrible name, almost anything would be better ), but I think they should have just bought the Atari trademark and released it as that.

With Microsoft seeing the success of the wii and casual gaming, should they now buy the rights to the Atari name and release it under that name, it has great brand recognition here in the US and it couldn't hurt them overseas either...

Would changing the name now hurt them more than it helped ? I think most people who own the xbox now are a more informed audience anyway who'd know that the next xbox was being released under the atari name... so I doubt they'd lose much dropping the xbox name. Atari have released some awful games lately, but again I think most people who own an xbox would be informed enough to know that there was no longer any connection there, and those who'd get a real buzz that it's an Atari probably wouldn't have played Atari's recent games anyway.

OK, I got my Netflix subscription 3 days prior to the new cagcast but I still got it through the netflix.com/cagcast Ad is that enough for Wombat to loosen his change purse and fork over the extra dollar for the Blue Ray's from netflix?

So Wombat did you have a chance of the play the RE5 demo on PS3? If so, which system do you prefer?

CheapyD, what was your rival fraternity?

Hey Cheapy and Wombat! I'm no cag veteran but I can say that you guys rock my socks! But on to the question. As I said I'm fairly new to cag, so I don't know if maybe this has been answered already but... Who the heck drew the pictures of you two? Personally I'm thinking these drawings kick (cheap) ass and I'm just curious about it because they're all over cag!

Cheapy and wombat. what was your first thought when you first met. like his is pretty tall or he is very short etc.

hey Cheapy and wombat. Love the podcast and the site. My question is for Cheapy, Do you shave your head because you were going/are bald? Or because it's easy? 2nd part, have you ever grown a beard? You gotta balance out the missing hair from your head with facial hair!

And on a side note. I haven't reviewed you on iTunes yet, simply out of pure laziness; but if you give me a beta key I'll go review you straight away.

Keep up the good work!

Hey wombat, I am intrigued about the fact that you were a P.I.M.P. in college. If you were still single today would you still be able to pick up chicks? And if so will you be my wingman at your local drinking establishment when I visit NY this summer? I have a pinstripe suit I wanna try out, peace!

Why can't I d/l the cagcast for personal playback? It says I have no connections if I try to do that!

Also, I was wondering sense I am going to NY soon, where are some of the good places to eat (NYC)?

Hey guys. I was talking with some of my friends the other day about the HBO series "Real Sex" and how it helped us come of age. One of my buddies was telling us about an episode that took a deeper look into the Japanese porn scene. What stood out to him, was that in Japan they blur out the genitals of men and women in there porno videos. Is this true Cheapy D? And if so, why?? I like think of myself as a porn enthusiast and there isn't much that I haven't rubbed one out to, but blurred genitals might be the one thing I couldn't do. ALso, what are some of the other major differences between American and Japanese porn. Thanks again.

Hey guys love the show

Wombat and Cheapy, if you guys could live anywhere in the world besides NY and Japan where do you see yourselves living?

Also have you guys checked out the Windows 7 beta yet? It's a bit late but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Love the show once again

Hey Cheapy and Wombat,
I was listening to a recent CAGCast when you guys were talking about Rock Band. Wombat was saying how he didn't feel any need to purchase Rock Band 2 and he felt he could skip it and pick up Rock Band 3. With Harmonix allowing you to transfer songs from the previous Rock Band into Rock Band 2 for only 5 dollars and no activation code required, what is the incentive to buy a new Rock Band when I can get all of the songs for $5? Do you think Harmonix will keep allowing customers to do this?
If they will allow this, I'm waiting for Rock Band 4 to upgrade from the original and get near 160 songs for $10. Will this affect potential sales if people catch on, or is Rock Band just so big only a few other CAGs and me will actually care about this? What do you guys think?
I heard a woman's skin is very important in Japan. Does your wife do anything to keep hers up to par?
"It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again."

Hey Cheapy, if you ever move back to the states... Will you be buying a "bidet / crazy japanese toilet seat" like you have in Tokyo ?

Im actually thinking about getting one, once I move out of this crummy appartment.

Hey guys,

What do you think the physical appearances of the next generation of consoles will be like? What improvements would you like to see? In addition, how important will physical appearances be in terms of sales for the console? It seems that in countries such as Japan, people tend to lean towards small, slim consoles like the Wii rather than the bulky 360.
