CAGbag: Get your questions answered on CAGcast

Hey Cheapy and wombat would you guys do a live stream of you gaming? it could help spend the word of the site and deals of the week.

Wombat,
Since you're headed to ComicCon (and have been going for so many years), why don't you share your pull list? What are you reading lately?

3 questions:
1) Why no more CAG's on news theme song, I miss it.
2) Is prostitution legal in Japan, I've always heard is was socially acceptable for men to get whores even if they are married, something about it having nothing to do with love.
3) Cheapy you ever go to a Geisha house, they seem like a money pit and kinda stupid.

So now that we've heard some of your college stories, what was your guys' major/minor in college? And what degrees did you ultimately get? I know Wombat got a BA in Film Studies.

WOMBAT WHERE WERE YOU AT COMIC CON :( I DIDNT SEE YOU!!!
Did you check out MadWorld?
what free stuff you got???
i took a bunch of GTA stickers haha

Wombat, why don't you create your own website with a amazon referral program deal, so I can go to your site after I find a Amazon deal on CAG and use your link so you get paid? Cheapy won't mind.

Cheapy and Wombat,
Sorry for beating a dead horse, but are you sure everything is cool between you and the entire Kotaku staff, including Crecente? This last Sunday they made their traditional deals post and went to the length of linking to Cheap College Gamer talking about how there's been so many deals with the 1 year Gold cards for $30.

I made a comment calling them out about it (same username as here) and one of the responders said this Cheap College Gamer site has 25 registered users, only the admin makes posts, and pretty much everything on there is a rip from CAG.

Maybe you need to approach more of the Kotaku staff instead of just Crecente. It just sucks to see all the work you and the users here go unrecognized by the largest gaming blog in the world.

Wombat if you're at an event with some of these guys maybe you could approach them also as Cheapy would only get to see them in person at E3, TGS, and maybe GDC.

hey Wombat, how was NY Comic-Con? Did you find your rare Mighty Muggs? :)

Cheapy, what's with the NXE slowdowns that I've been hearing about?

Hey guys, I have a few questions for this week. First one is for Cheapy. You don't have to answer this one if you don't want to but now that it is tax season I was wondering how you have to pay taxes since your income comes mainly from the site that is based in the us and you get paid in USD? Obvioulsy you have bank accounts in japan and such have to pay taxes there but just curious about how you deal with your main source of income. This question is for you Wombat. With all of your stories you were clearly much more of a pimp in college than Cheapy. How does that make you feel? As always you guys put on a excellent show despite how busy you both are. Keep doing what you do and I hope you two do this till your in your 90s. :p

So Wombat, now that comics reached the end of one event cycle, which was it for you, Secret Invasion, or Final Crisis, or possibly neither.

In the last Cagcast cheapy said he didnt like the Transformers movie, I was just wondering why you didnt like it and what you think could of made it better.

Hey Cheapy, just wondering if you've ever thought about playing basketball. It seems like I'm seeing more of the taller, white, bald, not completely athletic players.

Hey Cheapy,
If you ordered a porno to watch with your wife but accidentally had it ship to your parents house in Florida, what would do you think their reaction would be and what would you say?
P.S. Has this happened before?

This seems highly improbable. How would he accidentally send it too their house in the U.S. when hes in Japan? o.o

This has nothing to do with the CAGcast, but I'd like your guys opinion on this problem I have.
I wanna take this girl to the prom as a friend because her boyfriend doesn't want to take her. Me and her boyfriend are friends so I ask him if it was ok with him, then he decides he wanted to take her, and is upset by the fact that she actually has to decide to go with me or her boyfriend.

What should I do?
(please don't say stick it in her pooper.)

Cheapy,
I have a question for you about 3 on 3 NHL Arcade. I, like you, was skeptical about this game and ended picking it up anyway. While I have to say it is a fun way to burn ten minutes, I can't help but feel kind of cheated a little bit. I have found that this game is hard, as in, I haven't won a game yet on the easy difficulty setting hard. I have usually been pretty good at hockey games, and was surprised to discover that it wasn't my skill level that was hindering me from winning a game. The game doesn't come with a way to see all of the controls. It gives you the basics: shoot, pass, move player, and trick shot, but I recently discovered that the right stick allows you to perform a deke, which the game neglects to tell you. I am sure that there is a turbo button mapped somewhere as well because I always seem to get out skated by the other team when I am on defense. So Cheapy, I was wondering how you feel about this. Shouldn't we, as gamers, be entitled to proper manuals for these downloadable games?
Thanks guys, keep up the great work on the show.
-B-Leg

PS- Cheapy if you do happen to know the rest of the hidden controls, it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me.

CheapyD.
what happened to your bathroom tour video on YouTube? were you embarrassed that there was a video of yourself naked having a bath with your baby on the internets?

Also wombat, it would be awesome if you had a YouTube account.

p.s why does fuck come up every time you type fuck. its fucking annoying, whats the fucking story behind the word fuck or in this case fuck fuck.

thanks to you and wombat for the show.

Cheapy & Wombat,

When Tai and Sabrina become old enough to play video games, are there any specific games you would introduce them to? Will you dig up an old console to show them what gaming was like in the "good ol' days"?

Hey Cheapy and Wombat,
Do you guys have any history of gaming on the PC? Would you consider playing games on the PC now? When my 360 got the RROD, I actually went back to playing PC games. I used to play Counter-Strike religiously before the 360 came along and now I find myself back in front of the monitor playing games like Team Fortress 2. I know both of you have iMacs, as do I (previous gen), but with Boot Camp you can partition your hard drive to install Windows. I think PC gaming is something you guys can strongly reconsider as the graphics may be better, along with the frame rate being smoother, and of course-- games being cheaper (especially with all these great Steam Weekend Sales).

Even with my 360 back, I rarely turn it on.

And since we're in the subject of PCs, hows that Acer Aspire One, Cheapy? Is it collecting dust beside your DSi?

Ok Wombat, question for you this time. As a new homeowner, what was the most shocking thing you encountered in your home purchase/problem after you moved in that you never would have thought of before purchasing a house. I mean besides the problem with your weird AC/Heating things in each room.
This seems highly improbable. How would he accidentally send it too their house in the U.S. when hes in Japan? o.o
Chose the wrong shipping address on PayPal. Cheapy has mentioned numerous times about having things waiting for him in his parent's Florida home, that he has ordered before.

How do you guys feel bout Apple making a true handheld gaming device?
[ I personally would like to see them do it because the iphone accomplishes all that the psp was supposed to be. The only thing that's missing is the dedication to gaming - (hardware - wise) ]

Would the PSP be as pirated if Sony would have made apps (like Apple has for the iphone) for the device?
[looking at psp homebrew, the homebrew community supported the psp, more than Sony did, the homebrew community were making apps for the console, but of course there're those who used the homebrew for piracy]

Cheapy D / Wombat - What genre would you like to see more titles for? And.. is their a particular genre that you feel may be lacking quality titles at this time? [ex. myself, I'd like to see more 2d beat em ups, (Bemups) be released, or re released.]

Hey Cheapy and Wombat! When you guys were dating your current wives, did you tell them you guys were gamers or did you wait until you guys were married? also when you were dating did your girlfriends ever happen to be big time gamers?

Cheapy,

A few months ago, my parents got one of the electronic bidets that are, as you know, common in Japan. Then they got one for my wife and I for Christmas. Though skeptical at first, I had been acquainted with this amazing ass-cleansing technology thanks to your discussion of it on the show, your YouTube video, and some recent news items. We’ve been using it for about a month and a half now and are hooked.

My questions are these: What was your first reaction when confronted with this technology? What about your parents or other Western visitors? When people visit either our bathroom or my parents’, they laugh and look at us like we’re freaks and sometimes refuse to use the toilet.

Cheapy

On Sky channel 516 there is a station called "NHK World TV". A complete channel about japanese culture, life, history, what people think about Japan (living and moving). On average the channel is pretty bad with lame ass acting/shows that try way to hard to impress people.

But this got me thinking; you should get in touch with the channel. You could talking about the move to Japan how it changed your life, what you like/dislike etc etc. You could even talk about your internet space pimpary and share it with the world!

Dear Cheapy,

I was recently listening to the new Rebel FM podcast Episode 5, and one of their guests, I believer her name was "Kat"?, who apparently lived in Japan for some time said that she never played any instrument based music game until recently because it was impossible for her to play music games particularly instrument based ones. She said that it was just to loud and would disturb her neighbors. She cited Guitar Hero as being one of these games, but this seems like a bit of an exaggeration since a plastic guitar on its own really does not make that much noise. Would you say that you agree with her reason for having never played any music game in Japan?

Cheapy,

I was reading a story in today's NY Times about how Sirius/XM is near bankruptcy. It said, among other things, that the company likely will cancel its contract with Stern to try and shore up its finances. Without Stern, what will you listen to during the day?

Hey Cheapy,

You've mentioned on several CAGcasts how excited you get to talk to someone in English. Well, you've got an audience of how-ever-many-thousands of English speakers, at least some of whom have the Skypes. At least some of those Skype capable folks would no doubt be delighted to shoot the shit with you for a few minutes.

Why not have some kind of weekly win-a-chat-with-Cheapy competition? It's a win-win, right?

Dear CheapyD,
I have a suggestion, but since this is the CAGbag, I will put it in question form.

-Have you considered putting comics on the site? I think they would be a great way to attract more people to cheapassgamer.com, and I'm sure the current members would love to read them, too (I know I would, anyway :D). If so, do you have any artists or writers in mind?

Sincerely,
Nebenator

Hey guys

Have you ever thought about adding a 3rd member to the CAG cast, perhaps someone from the UK?
You guys cover everything American and Japanese, how about the european side of things?

a question for both you jigga watt flux capacitors, aka the CAGCAST hosts. What do you guys think will be the next biggest gaming trend to hit the consoles or handhelds? I can personally see the incoming wave of all that Wii Fit garbage but i struggle to find an interesting and new trend that could come to the PS3 OR 360. Do you think that all the good ideas already exist? is the only solution a PS4 or xbox 720?

CheapyD & Wombat,

Do you think the current generation of consoles is destroying the PC genre? It seems a lot of PC gamers (like myself) have gone the way of consoles for gaming now.

I only ask this because the PC section at my local Gamestop keeps shrinking and shrinking every time I go in.

Or do you think PC killed its own market by putting so much copy protection like Securom and DRMs on their games.
I know some games only allow you to install the game only a few times, like Spore, after that, the game becomes a useless coaster. Not to mention PC games have no resale value anymore and Gamestop doesn't even take them as trade-ins anymore.

Do you think consoles are swallowing the PC gaming market? Or do you think PC copy protection is actually driving people away from PC gaming?

I've been listening to the show for a while and wonder if you keep track of how many people actually just click play on the front page? I never download the show and just click play.

Anyone else think that for having 9000 processors or whatever the PS3 takes waaaay too long to download tiny files? Or is that just me?

and speaking of downloads! Now that criterion has made us all pay for some burnout paradise downloadable content, do you think that they're gonna get greedy and stop with the free updates? I hope not!

Cheapy since you're a big fan of Saint's Row 2 do you think you could get someone from Volition to come on and talk about the game or possibly get some news on any DLC?

Hey Cheapy. I was listening to a pocast recently (skeptics guide) where they were talking about an obsession with blood types in Japan. Apparently the Japanese consider blood types to predict personality and abilities and take it very seriously - like horoscopes in the West but more so. Have you ever encountered this and does shima believe in it? Love the show and thanks again for the UK deals RSS feed!

Hey Cheapy and Wombat,
Cheapy, I see that you've bought Street Fighter IV already. What do you think of the game in general, and are there any major issues with lag online?

Hello there CheapyD and Wombat,

I have a couple questions for both of you and here they are:

Have any of you guys played RPG computer games such as RuneScape, World of Warcraft, etc?

Since their are a lot of instrument games (EX, Rock band, Guitar Hero etc.) and they cost a decent amount of money and that too they come out every year, do you believe that these types of games will eventually take over this and the next generation of gaming???

And my last but never least question

How and when did you two first meet? And who's idea was it too start Cheap Ass Gamer??

Thank you, Cheapy and Wombat,

Pavi

Thanks for answering my question Cheapy! BTW my name kube00, its pronounced "cube" like in gamecube. No harm though I alwayse get called kubie on PSN....

Here's another question, have either of you guys ever played. Deus Ex, The conspiracy for pc? If so, what did you think of it? Should there be more games like it, i.e. sci-fi rpg/fps?

And another question:

What are your favorite games on the Dreamcast?

Is there any way a "CAG Only" feature similar to *spoiler* can implemented into the new site system for member only viewing?

There seems to be alot of CAG members who are getting mad about lurkers stealing free posted codes such as 48 hour LIVE trials, 1 months, & 100 points code giveaways.

It would help kill lurking in posts & help to get new members when access to certain content is locked for guests. Plus, for example if you wanted the CAG - Play Insight Survey/ Amazon GC Giveaway contest link to be for members only you could do so only allowing the link to be clickable by site members.

I have a question for Wombat regarding his college days. He's mentioned how much of a pimp he was in college and how he had a different girl every weekend, and I was wondering...how? Obviously he's a huge nerd, and in my case, nerdiness seems to work as a woman repellent. Was he a closet-nerd, never bringing up his nerdiness? What did you say when they asked you your interests? I'm a huge nerd too and it seems like as soon as I bring up my interests, it scares them away. So, how'd you do it, Wombat? Any tips?

Thanks! love the show

Hey Wombat and Cheapy,

I had quick question, do you guy have suggestions on how get make ``good``video game reviews. Meaning like do you have to have a open mind or just follow in the trend of other reviewers? BTW I`m my english is a tad broken.

Keep up the great work . Wombat FTW

This isn't a question, but I was hoping you guys could say happy birthday to Toni, my fiance, on your next episode. If it comes out tomorrow (the 18th), it will be right on her birthday!

Thanks Cheapy and Wombat.

A silver lining for every economic cloud.
Agree or disagree:

1.) Less money floating around these days makes gaming more fun and less bitchy. People who buy games aren't going to be able to just breeze through them, piss & moan about every little thing they don't like, and discard them for their next quick fix. When you have less money to spend you are more appreciative of what you can buy with that money.

2.) With big companies clamping down on their spending, likely limiting their output, it gives smaller developers a chance to jump in and get a foothold in the market with cheaper, unique, independent games.
