Cheapy, I don't think that your argument about buying a game when it comes out(after pirating it) is valid. When a game is just released, you're usually paying a full retail price for it when you pick it up. However, over time the price goes down as the value of the game goes down. As you can see, a game loses its value over time. The reason that you pay $60 for Ninja Gaiden 2 on launch day as opposed to paying $40 six months later is so that you can have the game earlier when it is in high demand. As demand goes down, so does the price. It's a valuable thing to have a game before the release date, because so many people want the game, but have to wait until launch day to buy it. Because demand so high right before launch, the value of the game that you are pirating before launch day is most likely higher than that of a game you can buy legally on the day it comes out. I can maybe understand somebody pirating a game and buying it later for the same price that it was when they pirated it, but otherwise I still believe that pirating is wrong.
And Cheapy, if the interview is a bad interview because it's a train wreck, then the Real World is a bad TV show because it's about people who are train wrecks.
At first I just thought that Denis Dyack was just an outspoken guy, but after seeing more and more of him, it seems like he's just really whiny. If you watch the 1UP Show segment on Too Human, you see him making excuses all the time. What I'm now seeing is a guy who never learned to accept criticism. I really am not trying to bash him, but if he wants me to stop thinking of him as a whiner and complainer, he has got to stop posting on message boards, talking to the gaming press, and just in general not talk to the public. I don't think all game devs should do this, but Denis Dyack needs to let some other guy from SK do the talking.
Love the show, by the way
