Las Vegas (AP) - Cries of "BOOM BITCH!" could be heard throughout the arena on Monday night as I Am DrP1zza finally notched his first victory in CAGFC. After taking a ridiculous beating in his first fight to eventual Heavyweight champion Big Black Smurf, DrP1zza took on another dark skinned foe (what is it with black guys wanting to kick DrP1zza's ass?) in Kimbo Slice.
The fight started out with both fighters circling each other, trying to get a feel for what the other was going to do. Then, the fireworks started. DrP1zza threw a head kick, and Slice immediately responded with a barrage of heavy-handed bombs. Late in the round, Slice rocked P1zza with a vicious hook, and P1zza staggered backward. He managed to stay away from Slice long enough to recover, and then scored a big takedown, allowing him to escape the round.
With all the talk of Slice and P1zza, between rounds, commentators Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan had to pay a visit to the snack bar. Fortunately, both made it back before the bell rang. As the fighters came out for round two, it was clear that Slice did more damage in that opening round. However, both fighters appeared weary. DrP1zza scored another takedown early in the round and quickly gained full mount. Slice gave up his back, and P1zza tried to sink in a rear naked choke. Slice was able to escape though, and both fighters returned to their feet.
Slice again began delivering big punches, rocking DrP1zza once more. But again, with a warrior's spirit, P1zza stayed away and was able to recover. As time ticked away in the round, DrP1zza took Slice down again. He again gained mount, and started to rain punches down. Slice tried to roll out of it, but P1zza denied his attempt. More shots were fired downward to the skull of big Kimbo Slice. Slice wrapped his arms around DrP1zza (fulfilling several of DrP1zza's boyhood fantasies), but P1zza pushed him away and continued to pummel his opponent.
Finally, Slice gave up his back again, and DrP1zza again went for his favorite hold: the rear naked choke! This time he was successful as he made Slice tap out. Following in the footsteps of the immortal Seth Petruzelli, DrP1zza had beaten the Youtube legend. Victory was his! As he rose from the mat, he looked into the camera, raised his hand as though he were going to slap it again. But this time he held back. He then smiled a dopey smile, and simply said "I Am DrP1zza....BOOM BITCH!!!"
DES MOINES, IA (AP) - It may seem like a depressing sight seeing CAGFC rising star, Tyler Wilson, sitting at his home with one leg bandaged and propped up, but when you sit down with the 19 year old fighter, everything is more upbeat. "I had just come back from training in Florida," said Wilson, " and I came home to do more personal training and in the middle of it, I went for a takedown and all of a sudden, I felt this explosive pain in my leg and I went down, and could barely get back up."
That explosive pain he felt was a torn tendon in his left leg. After an MRI was completed, Tyler soon found out he would need to have his leg surgically repaired. "I didn't like knowing that I would be out for awhile, but I really have no one to blame but myself." said Wilson, "I went into that workout with out preparing. I usually play Peggle or Uno beforehand, but I skipped it that time and it proved to be my downfall."
The doctors told him that he would be out for several months, but like many athletes of his caliber, he is rehabbing his leg extra hard to come back early. Wilson spends most of his time training in Cedar Rapids, IA, but recently took a trip to Headhunter Training Camp in Tampa, FL, to train with former CAGFC Heavyweight Champion, Gary Russell. After the Florida training, Russell was quoted saying, "He [Tyler] has much to learn, but I think I can help him become one of the best in CAGFC. I like to think of him as my protege."
Tyler has been upbeat recently and tells us he knows he will come back stronger, faster, and better than ever. "My career has just begun, I had a slip-up and had to forfeit my fight against Jay Gillums, but that's just one loss. I'm going to work hard, come back, and show the world why I am the next CAGFC Heavyweight Champion. I may not be the best in the world but I'll make sure whoever you put me in with will have a fight on their hands, and one day, it will lead me to gold."
