CAGFC (UFC 2009 League) - HW's Only! New Site! Details Inside!

Thanks Regian for sticking around to get that last fight in! I really appreciate it, man. Hope to see you back with another fighter in the future! :)

Woo, top contender status for Gail Pennyfeather! Never doubt a gay black Swedish man in a fight!

EDIT: Just saw the post where cgarb retired. That sucks; we had 2 great fights. Now I will never get a shot at revenge. Man, middleweight's down to only 5 guys. We used to be in the double digits.

Yeah, I know. Ultimate Matt X was asking which division he should create a fighter for next, and at the time, I told him we were pretty balanced, so whichever division he felt comfortable in. Although, now MW seems to be hurting. Although, WW and LW are about the same. Even HW is a bit misleading because 3 fighters are currently sitting.

In my opinion, the competition is just starting to get really good. People who didn't create new fighters or re-do their original ones will probably get left behind, but that's just the evolution of the game. LHW has been really competitive since we started, and HW and WW are really heating up. Somebody has to step up and give Eric Ortiz a test at 185 though. Dude has had the belt for almost 2 months, haha.

EDIT - Oh, and regarding your description of Pennyfeather...never turn your back on him either! ;)

I have no idea how I'll do in my match against Gary's Jason Miller, but I hope to contend for the middleweight belt sooner rather than later. Gary and I could have quite the rivalry, you know, facing each other this week in one class and (presumably) next week in another.

Also, now that the patch is out, I'll do a 3rd career even though I have 80 billion other games I should be playing instead. Now to decide on which guy/class to make. I have a few in mind...

Thanks N8 for the encouragement. I have been thinking pretty hard about it but I guess the final answer will come when its time to pick up madden. I am on a tight budget for the summer so if I dont have the money that I will have to but if I can afford to keep both maybe I will.

As for today, my girl is at some teacher workshop, I dont have work and my week has been hell. I am doing nothing but playing games and watching movies (on my xbox as well) so anytime my opponent is ready he can jump on.

You know the deal Matt. I'm usually up at 10:00 am EST so thats 7:00 your time. I'll be on till about 6:00 today then I go for my run and I'm usually back at around 8 ish.

I've been on for 3 hours. No you.

Hey guys, just posting a reminder that the deadline for your CAGFC10 fights is less than 24 hours away. We've still got 4 fights that need to be completed.

Brandon Haines vs Joseph Garcia (LH)
Michael Klein vs Jeremy Hill (LH)
Jason Miller vs Matt Young (MW)
Daniel Ortiz vs Small Light Smurf (LH Title)

Let's try to get these fights in guys. These are some big match ups that could greatly influence the next card.

Gary and I can't seem to meet up. I was gone all weekend, and since then we haven't been on at the same time. I waited for 3 hours last night at a time he said he'd be on, only to have a message waiting for me today from a short time after I signed off saying he won't be available much today. :whistle2:\

I hope we get this done, because neither of us deserve a forfeit loss.

We will get this done tonight. I sent ya a PM. But if it comes down to it, I'll take the loss gladly. If the damn car wasn't taken up so much of my time, It would be alot easier.

Really enjoyed that fight. was a extremely strategic fight. Felt that I had won it but thats what I get for having it go to the judges

Alright, for some reason my opponent and I just couldnt meet up this week. I was on from about 6:30 until 9pm and I am about to watch a movie and then to bed for work tomorrow.

Dont fret too much because I will just take this time to official retire. N8 thanks for the encouragement but I just cant do it. I only play this game for the league and if I cant meet up with a opponent then I just went a week without even putting it into my disc drive.

Guys, thanks for everything it was a fun ride while it lasted. I am still going to pop in and out of here just to see whats going on.

All right, man. Well, it was good to have you here. Hope you enjoy Madden this year. I tried out the demo earlier and I just wasn't feeling it. For some reason, it didn't feel that different from last year to me (it probably didn't help that the game was in the snow). Glad I'm not bothering with that game this year, haha :)

sood you were on 22 minutes ago. I just got home from work so if you see this, i'll be off and on all night. If you don't want to fight anymore, thats cool though. Just let me know. Sorry we couldn't find each other, just wierd times for us both.

Jason Mayhem Miller is Forfeiting this match. I will have to take him and stick with my HW untill my car is done. Suck but I rather focus on one then just have to deal with two. Once I'm done with the car I will be back in full force.

So, Miller is on hiatus? Is that what you're saying? I'm working on the next card and I want to make sure I'm understanding you right.

I just messaged you back on Live, Gary. You must have signed on right after I got off, because I was playing Fallout until 11 your time. I just saw the message on Xbox.com, but between you being offline since sending it, and that last post, getting the fight done doesn't seem likely. I hope you finish that car soon because (A) you rock and (B) we need middleweights. I guess we at least get to play each other on the upcoming card, though that may not be good for me.

"Its with a heavy heart that I must announce my retirement from CAGFC. I have had highs and lows and felt that I gave all I could to the sport. From my early rivalry with Matt Cracker to my successful title defenses. Id like to thank all the fans for their support but it is time I hang up my gloves." - Michael Klein

Id like to take this oppurtunity to announce the retirement of Michael Klein from the Light Heavyweight division. I really enjoyed playing the light heavyweight division and figured it was time to retire him since he was my first career character ever. I had some good rivalries, fights and even had the belt for a while.

Id now like to introduce my new fighter. The cousin of Michael Klein all the way from Berling, Germany!

Name: Kyler Klein
Weight: 170 (Welterweight)
Height: 5'11
Style: Kickboxing, BJJ
Rate: 92

"I am very excited to see what I can bring to CAGFC against the best fighters in the world. I hope to continue the Klein family legacy and entertain the fans along the way." - Kyler Klein

(Yes I know im a nerd.)

*sigh* I don't mean to be a dick, man, but here we go again. I just posted a couple hours ago that I was starting to work on the next card. I come back to post it, and see one of the fighters I put on it has retired, and been replaced by a new fighter. I don't want to discourage the creation of new fighters at all because I appreciate it, as opposed to just dropping out, and I think it'll extend the life of the game for you. But is there any way you can hold off Michael Klein's retirement by one week?

The dilemma it creates this week is that by dropping Michael Klein, the LH division becomes odd, and forces another fighter to sit. And by adding a WW, that division becomes odd, and forces someone to sit. Seen PM'd me earlier saying he's getting his new TV this week, so he'll be back for CAGFC12, which will even up the LH's again.

And at least with a week's notice, I can plan ahead which WW to sit. I generally like to make sure everybody has a fight, meaning if one person has two fighters and somebody else only has one...the guy with two sits one of his. That way, everybody gets to fight. And no offense, but I really don't want to go back through all of this again at 2:40 in the morning. You'd be doing me a favor by letting Michael Klein fight one last time. Hope you can see where I'm coming from. Thanks.

The CAGFC X results have been finalized. There were 3 fights that didn't get completed and forfeits were handed out accordingly. The biggest of these fights was the Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Daniel Ortiz and Small Light Smurf. Based on effort and availability, I had to give Ortiz a forfeit for that one.

I don't like to have the title change hands as a result of a forfeit (and with SLS retiring anyway, it didn't really matter), but I also felt Ortiz needed some kind of consequence for having to forfeit. The most fair thing I could think of was to strip him of the belt. HOWEVER, I also didn't want to be too harsh, as he's still a top contender and deserves another shot. Therefore, he will face Matt Cracker at CAGFC11, in a battle for the now vacated title.

Look for a special announcement and the card for CAGFC11 tomorrow, after some minor details are worked out. It's going to be a doozy! :)

N8rocker, after this week's card, please put my fighter on hiatus. I'm going to trade in UFC soon because it's worth $33.75 at Gamestop right now with Power Trade plus Edge and I need money to pay for CoD: MW2 Hardened Edition (can't spring $150 for Prestige.)

I may be back later on if I can get UFC for cheap and I'll just restart my fighter at that time as I don't think I'll be able to go through career mode again. I can't justify turning away $34 when I only play this game once per week.

Apparently working on the car and getting a big ass knot in my foot from hitting the engine at least 3 times, I fell asleep so fast I Couldn't recheck the thread. lol. But yes, This is what I'm saying for now.

Hey nate, if you want to give me a week or so, I'm currently developing a welterweight fighter as we speak. I'll try to have him ready ASAP. I'll let you know when he is ready to roll, it won't be long.
Therefore, he will face Matt Cracker at CAGFC11, in a battle for the now vacated title.

Sorry to break it to you but two pages back:

But I must announce my retirement, I traded the game in just a minute ago. I wasn't really playing it except for CAGFC, and I'm not going to stick it out until they fix the online. I hope they'll do so with next years version. Thanks Nate for running this league, you did a great job with lining up all of the cards and because of the league I got more of my moneys worth out of the game.

It's been fun, thanks you guys.

N8rocker, after this week's card, please put my fighter on hiatus.
All right, that's cool. Thanks for the notice.

Ah, god dammit. How did I miss that? I feel like I saw it, but it just didn't register. Well, I guess that makes the Michael Klein retiring point moot. All right. All fucking bets are off. I'll be juggling some spots on the card. Stay tuned.

Nate, after this upcoming card I will be retiring my fighter as well. I don't think I will be playing this much more after Madden comes out. Thanks for all your work on this league. It got me most of the way from NHL 09 to 10. I certainly got my moneys worth on UFC thanks to this league.

All right, after much anticipation, CAGFC is finally making its return to foreign soil! Because of a few passport issues, and Heavyweight Champion Gary Russell receiving a full cavity search due to a "suspicious smell" (as reported by top contender Gail Pennyfeather...who curiously insisted that he be present for the cavity search...), CAGFC11 is getting a bit of a late start. But I'm happy to announce that everything has now been approved. So, put on some ABBA and cover your rectums! We're going to Sweden, ja!

As always, you'll find the card for CAGFC11 in the OP.
Fights will be due by Thursday, August 13th, at 11:59PM EDT

gamcreator/Brandon Haines,
When do you want to do our fight? My copy of UFC is already at Gamestop and I'm going to have to borrow a copy from a friend to get this fight in so I need some advance notice.

Barring any problems with my podcast, I can fight any night after 7 p.m. central except for Sunday. I could also fight anytime on Thursday.

Oh crap, 2 title shots? I knew about the Pennyfeather one only.

Gail Pennyfeather issued a statement today saying that it will be an honor to fight for the title in his native Sweden. Pennyfeather left Sweden to go to Montreal as there were no fighting organizations in his country, so this will be his first professional fight in his home land (not counting, of course, the countless amateur bouts in bath houses nationwide).

I love the banner, by the way.

How come I got the forfiet when my opponent retired himself? And stripped of the belt too? I'm on or my brother is on, or my roomate is on pretty much every day. I don't see how I wasn't making the effort when we talked in PM's and added each other but just couldn't meet each other because of time differences. I even posted in the thread trying to setup the match.

Anyways, I dont care about the record but my brother is pissed that he got a loss for no reason. Especially since soodmeg retired.

Soodmeg retiring is irrelevant. His retirement did not go into effect until the deadline for the fights had passed. This was the sequence of posts in the thread and how they led to my decision.
Pmed my opponent yesterday and got no response. Have been on all day playing Stranglehold and havent seen him.
He sent his first PM on 7/31 (the same day the card was posted), and made the above post on 8/1.
Still havent heard anything from my opponent.
As of August 3rd, when this post was made, he still hadn't gotten a response.
Thanks N8 for the encouragement. I have been thinking pretty hard about it but I guess the final answer will come when its time to pick up madden. On the morning of August 5th, he posted again, to let you know he'd be on all day and would be available to get the fight in.
soodmeg i can play tomorrow after 5pm pst, or right now. let me know
Your first attempt (that I'm aware of) to set the fight up came at 1:26 in the morning...22 hours before the fights were due. You gave him a timeframe of "right now" or 4 hours before the deadline.
Alright, for some reason my opponent and I just couldnt meet up this week. I was on from about 6:30 until 9pm and I am about to watch a movie and then to bed for work tomorrow.

Soodmeg made his final post at 8:45 PM EDT last night. Now, from what I can gather, it seems like the dreaded "can't figure out the difference between Eastern and Pacific time" is what screwed you guys up. You said you wouldn't be available till after 5PM PDT and Soodmeg said he waited from 6:30 to 9PM.

And I'm 99% sure Soodmeg was thinking EDT because I was also on my 360 last night and he sent me a message telling me you were supposed to play at 7. So, that's probably the error in communication.

HOWEVER, I can't ignore the fact that he attempted to get in touch with you from the first day the card was posted, and all you could offer him was a timeframe 4 hours before the deadline. I'm sorry. Call it losing by judges decision, but while you made an effort, I have to say Soodmeg made a bigger one. And retirement or not, he deserved the win there.

The belt being stripped is really just a formality. The more important thing is you have a chance to win it back in this next fight. Use this as a learning experience and make the most of your current opportunity.

Gary, Ortiz- I can play tonight after UFC 101. I can probably play before, but I don't know exactly when as I will be in and out of the house.

Jackie Chan | Nate Lisa | Unanimous Decision (29-28)

Very close fight. Lisa for sure took round one, but Chan barely edged out Lisa in rounds two and three.

Not much to say really but that the fight was back and forth, Lisa having dominance on the feet and Chan earning the points on the ground. Honestly had no idea who was going to win that one, though my heart stopped beating when you had those mounts.

Yeah, really great fight. I think most of your fights go the distance because you just excel at not letting people beat you. I don't know. Maybe I should have been more aggressive, but I just felt like if I was, you were going to make me pay.

I really think my MW is garbage though. It practically does me no good to gain mount when my ground striking is like 70-75. When I created him, I thought I'd be KO'ing people with head kicks and getting submissions. What a dumb idea that was! haha. Anyway, good fight.

Jackie Chan | Nate Lisa | Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Tony Hawk | Brandon Craig | TKO 1:21 Round 3

Traded shots for most of the fight and finally got stunned and pounded for the finish. Good fight Moojuiced.

Heh, seems like everyone hate's their MW guy.

Tony Hawk | Brandon Craig | TKO | 1:21 of Round 3

Back and forth on the standup exchange, but a knee from the Muay Thai clinch rocked Craig, and Chan swung for the fences, forcing Mario Yamasaki to step in to stop the fight.

Good fight man, ate a lot of bombs from you, surprised I didnt at least get rocked.
