If anybody wants to get their games finished just send me a PM here and I'll give you a time I'm free. The IceBurgh, Nerevfan and Amicus33.... typed from next week to the last week of CAGHL. I'm not worried about being rusty going into the playoffs, as I can just play a few online games here and there. Just want to give everyone the chance to get their games out of the way, but I can wait eitherway.
 
Just to remind, tomorrow is the "last day" to get your games in (I know that the play by date has pretty much been done away with, but It would still be cool to get the games in).

The only game that needs to be played this week is Calgary / Atlanta. Also, Anaheim / Atlanta was the only game not played last week, so try not to fall too far behind Sighlintbob.
 
There's three games left in the regular season. Only Nashville and Buffalo have clinched playoff spots, so a lot can happen in the three remaining weeks.

Hey Steve and I played our game and the final buzzer went off with me winning 4-3, then it said there was a network problem and the game wouldn't count. Do we have to play again now?!

It's up to you. The game was completed, so I can just simulate the results, but if you want stats to count and stuff, you'll have to play the game through again. It's really between you two, so whatever you guys choose to do.

I've been trying to get my game in but Sighlintbob's been MIA for a few days. We were trying to get together as of the weekend.

I'm actually anticipating the final two games of the season, I could drop pretty low if I were to lose both. The race for the playoffs is pretty damn interesting thanks to 8 spots, if you only let four people go into the playoffs it would have been pretty damn lame. Good call when you created CAGHL to make it 8.

Yeah, I figured if 16 teams can make the playoffs in the 30 team NHL, it makes sense have the top 8 make the playoffs in a 16 team league.

Also, since Ottawa beat Buffalo 10-9 in what looks like a crazy game, Nashville clinched first place overall, which will make me choking in the playoffs all the more impressive.

Buffalo lost? Well with that crazy game, Silencer now leads the league in goals scored which I held till now throughout the season. I doubt he's going to lose his last two games and give me or Ottawa the chance to take second place though. Speaking of which my last game is against Ottawa, which is why I have a good chance at ending up in fourth place myself when the season ends.

You really think your going to choke in the playoffs? Well I might do the same, heck might not even win a game. I'm very streaky.

yes, ottawa vs buffalo was a crazy game. back and forth, my heart was pumping fast the entire game. couldn't relax at all, cuz before i knew it silencer scored again. no one led by more than 2 goals at any point in the game. and i think after 6-6, the lead was only 1 goal at any point in time.

i'm actually looking forward to my last two games. against thatstoobad and then against monster mack. my first game vs thatstoobad this season ended in an ot lost. which i think i blew a 2 goal lead late in the 3rd. and my first game vs monstermack i also think i lost in ot. and i'm pretty sure that was very exciting as well.

You and ajh I fear the most. Ajh is underated, he was reading me one entire game and couldn't get anything on em. You lost to me but that game was real close and I think in two weeks you'll be getting your revenge if you keep at it. Silencer is very good to and I was lucky to beat him in some in exhibitions. I don't think anyone knows Buffalo's secrets right but we'll see come playoffs.

I did a search for the threads of previous leagues, and found out that in the 2k5 league, I went in at first place and lost in the finals to Silencer. In the 2k6 league, I went into the playoffs third and lost to Silencer in the semi-finals (though he lost in the finals). I'd like to beat him if possible.

Thanks a lot. Trying to turn the attention to me. I like laying low in 2nd place, but now people seem to be gunning for me. Great game Amicus. Our goalies were really sucking it up. Miller gave up at least 3 that just trickled past him.

I think you guys are going to be caught off guard by Shadowcat as well. He always gives me a run for my money. I've honestly been considering trying to position myself so that I miss him in the playoffs.

He messaged me about about our game last week, but never followed up so we could agree on a time.

I'm pretty sure he's a rather busy guy, so hopefully he'll be able to find time to make up the games that he's missed.
 
Yeah, probably. The deadlines will be lenient, since the playoff games will be important to get in, but each series will only be best of 3, so everyone should be able to get them done in a week.

If there's any issues like somone going out of town for a short time, then I'll probably try to accommodate.

Right now it looks like a multiple tie for third, or even second place, is quite possible.

So say for example Silencer somehow loses next week, and I win against Ottawa, or... Ottawa beats me and we're tied. What does 2k look at or how do you look at who takes the certain place? Most goals scored and allowed? What if we both won one game each and we're tied in standings? Just a question, considering the possibilities at the end of this season.

The first tie breaker will be wins. The second tie breaker will be the record of the tied teams against each other. The NHL uses goal differential as a tiebreaker, but I'm not sure if that's fair, since we run into the problem of games not registering (for instance, I have 61 goals for, but I just added it up and I would actually have 73 for and 26 against if all of my games had registered).

I think the tie breaker after the head-to-head record will be total head-to-head score. So if Buffalo is tied with Carolina, and Buffalo won a game 4-2, while Carolina won a game 4-3, Buffalo would win the tie breaker because they outscored Carolina 7-6 total. If anyone has a problem with that, let me know.

Yeah you earned the win. I was lucky to even tie it with that fluke goal at the start, granted alot of my backhanders were hitting posts left and right which made it even more intense for me. Our game was pre-playoffs but it certainly felt like a playoff game. I might come in third (or if a miracle occurs second place) for the season but you certainly deserve my spot with that win.
 
Anyone else having problems getting a game in? Shadowcat and I tried to get our game in last night and after either of us accepted the other players challenge, the game kicked us back to the lobby.

We tried about 10 times total and each rebooted our systems to no avail. Any ideas?

BTW, played my game against Washington today--one game closer to the end of an awful season:

Colorado 7
Washington 1

Finally got some goal-scoring. Good game IceBurgh.

I had that happen once this year, but used the old remove each other from your friends list trick and it worked. One time customer service game me some weird story about security setttings getting out of sync and not letting you play with certain people. Xbox Live is funny in that it will let you play with complete strangers, but not your friends at times. Me and Shadowcat couldn't play hockey or Halo, or any game for that matter until we removed each other from each other's friends list. Always worth a shot.

I think it's 2K's problem because my roommate tried to get into 2K Sports online section and it wouldn't let him saying the 2K server wasn't available. I think they've had issues all weekend. No problem with connection to Live. There are also some scattered posts in the NHL and NBA Online Play forums about connection problems.

Has anyone played a game yesterday or today?

I haven't had a chance to get on and try it out today, but I played a couple games last night before I went out and didn't have any problems.

If you're able to communicate with him, suggest that he try to make up some of his unplayed games. He has something like 5 that need to get done by the end of next weekend.
 
Just to point out, every remaining game must get done by the end of of the day on Sunday. If they're not done, I'll be simulating the rest.

Everyone should really check out the standings on the league site, because the remaining games could end up having a really big impact on where everyone ends up.

Good game Flybrione. Thanks for getting it in on short notice. It looks like I've locked up 2nd place for the third straight year. It will be interesing to see if Shadowcat can win enough games before Sunday to take over the 8th playoff spot.
 
ok I have games with Magiic, SteveMcq, and sighlintbob....I don't think sighlintbob is around...I've tried for weeks to get that game in...I've msg'd Magiic a couple times when I've seen him on...but I'm around all this weekend so pm me here
 
Shadowcat and I still can't connect into a game. Still get to the starting game prompt and then it closes saying game can't start. Shadowcat added me to his friends list and that didn't work either. He has a wireless router with a moderate NAT and he can't figure out how to change it.

Also nerevfan hasn't been on in 8 days and hasn't returned either of my messages I sent him on Live.
 
I wish I had some advice to offer you guys about the NAT thing, but I don't have any idea what that means, so I'm no help at all.

However, you may want to try playing a game outside of the league, just playing against each other in the normal match-making lobby. You won't be able to use the rosters you have in the league, but at least you'll be able to play against each other (maybe).
